  • THIS VIDEO HELPED ME DEVELOP A MORE INTENSE RELATIONSHIP WITH MY CROWN VIC.!!!

  • I HAVE A '99 CROWN VIC, I HAD THE IDLER AND TENSIONER PULLEYS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE WATER PUMP AND THERMOSTAT,BUT IT STILL RUNS A LIL' HOT WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE PROBLEM??? Directed to--->TOWRECKER.

  • @DARIUSSR612 check cooling fan operation , they are prone to die , and unless you really let these cars idle a bunch , you don't notice it really , and if it is dead , it could be the fan motor, relay , temp sensor , you just have to jump in and test some stuff, thats all ...also check that the radiator , and the a/c condenser are not full of bugs and shit , that will restrict air flow and cause it too !

  • @towrecker I just had the A/C compressor replaced and the fan DOES come on and I flushed the radiator on 02-27-10 (last night). and used some "Mendtite" sealer in the radiator just in case the gaskets (Head) had a crack. I had a freeeze plug issue that i hadn't replaced yet,but I know that the upper hose IS suppose to have pressure while the car is running, but any help IS appreciated!!

  • @DARIUSSR612 when the ac is not on I bet the fan don't run , check that out , it is oh so common on these , and if you have a blown head gasket and keep running it , you will be buying a head , if not an engine , these do not like to get hot , one good over heat , and your done ! the factory long life coolant , the gold stuff will curdle up like rotten milk when you and anything to it like sealers , you have been warned ...

  • Greatly appreciate this video

  • @XWarrior920x your welcome , be sure and subscribe to this and my other channel "beltstowing" you will before long know how to fix just about anything , and get some laughs too :)

  • Great Video. My Ford has 85k miles on it and still quiet but nice to know how to do this. question....do you still run 5w20 in the higher mileage 4.6L or high mileage oil that's like 5w30 weight? I cant find 5w20 high mileage round here not sure if its made even Thanks. and also for them rainy days use rainx on the windshield. worth its weight in gold.

  • @indystang I run 5w20 motorcraft oil still yet at 155k on this one , the last 4.6 exploded on the interstate at 513k on the clock , and yes ran the same oil in it too , high mileage is snake oil , changing your oil every 3k is the key to engine life !

  • Good video. Just a heads up to anyone with an older Vic. I have a 95 and this video got me going on the right path but there's a few differences. On the older Vics the idler pulley is smooth with no grooves and it's up near the alternator. Also, you have to use a 1/2 inch ratchet and the hole is in the middle of the idler arm. On the older Vics you just remove the belt from the alternator and let it hang freely. Either way the procedure is easy and my car isn't squealing anymore.

  • great video looking for this all day, I think the Idler in no good on my truck because I have put on 3 belts and they have burned off, changing my alternator as well and will change Idler, hopefully belts don't burn off any more. And yes it was making a nasty squeaky sound had no Idea where is was coming from now I know Thank you. With your knowledge why do you think my compressor belt is burning off, I know Idler is no good any other reason you might think. Thank you.

  • @mikeaa000 take the belt off , and spin everything by hand , the crank pulley is the only one that should not move freely , something is very tight , or froze up for sure !

  • @towrecker The AC compressor is not moving freely, it was froze put a little of wd40 moves now but still does not move freely sound dry and crackly, I guess gong to buy new one job just got bigger lol.

  • @mikeaa000 does the center of the a/c clutch turn , does the ac work ? you might get by with getting a second hand clutch from the bone yard , the whole compressor is like $250+ install + gas ...ect

  • @towrecker turns really bad and ac does not work compressor looks really rusted and dry, do I need to connect the ac compressor, could I just cancel it and get a small belt that connects to crank and Idler. Thanks for all your help.

  • @mikeaa000 maybe , you will just have to try and retry till you find one that fits ...

  • thanks for all help.

  • @mikeaa000 watch this video youtube(dot)com/watch?v=c18mcIEv6ks it shows how a stiff alternator can smoke a belt off , will help you understand what is going on with yours , yes thats a chevy , but same thing really , just looks diff lol

  • good video nice job

  • Hi, I just had my crown victoria belt broke and I have the new belt, but I would like to know what is the tool that you used to pull the tension.. please!!

  • @enogarolli just a standard 3/8 drive ratchet with or without an extension is all you need , it fits in the square hole on the tension arm ...

  • This just made my life easier.

My '01 started chirping a while ago and now I know what to do.

    Thanks!

  • 222 views and im watching a damn 45 second commercial. nice youtube.

  • @shadooky they place those on 1080p hd videos , but would you rather see whats going on , or half see it ? I spend hours on just one video , filming , editing , and uploading in hd , for you the viewers benefit , most like it , sorry

  • @towrecker I thought they usually gauge advertisement placement and length by views, that was my point, haha. I like the video, well done, Im replacing mine next week.

Comment wasnt a stab at you at all.

  • @shadooky I know it has something to do with file size too ...I am no expert though lol

  • Next week : How to flush your coolant!

  • @Jmodderator actually that was back in the summer , never videoed lol

  • Monkey Piss LOL, use it all the time! Just throw the old parts on the ground, I do the same, sometimes they roll over the hill Good vid!

  • @More350Power dang , you have a hill !! I have to pick my crap up :(,,,

  • @towrecker Got lots of hills, too many! Round objects roll places never to be found like pulleys, rims etc LOL

  • @More350Power lol that would be great for used tires lol

  • Nice "how-to" video. I'd like to mention that it's a good idea to spin the other driven accessories when the belt is loose. Quite often I find more things grinding away.

  • @hopper1 true , true , but this was an already checked part before the video , never really thought about that , I should have included that in it I guess lol

  • @towrecker Sometimes you have to be careful with the wording when doing vids like this. Some numbskull will be hearing a noise on his Crown Vic, replace the idler "just like you said to in the video and it didn't fix the problem" and you'll have a pissed off viewer on your hands. Trust me, I've been there. That's why I try not to do the "how to" stuff. BTW, I love the Towmater identity crisis video :)

  • @hopper1 I guess thats true , but they can't get a refund on free lol and ole towmater just got in the spare parts bin again lol

  • that's what's wrong with my ram now. I thought the altenator bearing was going i guess it was the pully. it came apart. this is easy compared to implementing an ad code?

  • @MrBlueroads damn I so forgot about that ...FUC.....

  • Good old panther piss

  • I like those gates tensioners/ pulleys They hold up well. AND are still made in the USA.

  • @ghtowagon yup they do , and as far as parts us, and candian parts are all thats worth bolting on really lol

  • @towrecker I also have a bunch of old bearings that are still good. I re grease them (Pry the seals off slowly, they come off easy) , press the old out and the used bearing in to fix problems with idlers. I'm cheap! Usually every American car uses the same size sealed bearings.

  • @ghtowagon you are right , most of them are just dry , but heck for what the pulley cost , it was not worth the time for me really to even fool with it lol , if it was over 20 bucks I would have , I am just a half cheap ass lol

  • In broadcast television we call it Macro focus for close up's, and many of the consumer or prosumer DV cameras have kind of like a built in one when in auto focus. I like the Sony DCR-TRV30 Mini DV for my personal stuff, but in the professional world I like my Ikegami.

  • @AtlantaMobileProd that cam is basic , but I got one today that has it , got a $1200 cam for a 100 bucks , and it's not hot lol

  • How much miles do you have on this vehicle?

  • @SolonicToyota1991 12?,??? just broken in lol

  • @towrecker What? 120,000? Was this Police car used hard?

  • @SolonicToyota1991 yup , and no , this one was a prisoner hwy transport unit

  • that monkey piss is good stuff i use it all the time

  • @EricTehRedneck but damn it stinks lol

  • @towrecker yep my garage is attached to my house so every time i use the crap it stinks up my whole house

  • @EricTehRedneck yup, but whats worse is sprat the door latch in your car with it lol , stinks for weeks lol

  • I got lucky last year I had to replace the belt on my 92 explorer and it was cheap.I didn't have to replace anything else .Though it is a 6 cyl and yours is the 351 v8.Lol on the monkey piss, can't say I have heard it called that but it works. We use castle products here and they sell a product called "thrust" same as pb blaster basicly.

  • @delmontcrusier thats a 4.6 lol 281cid and pb blaster , thats monkey piss lol

  • nice how many ks on this car?

  • @lawsy29 12?,??? , she is just starting to purr lol

  • @towrecker lol cool

  • would be a good time to change the belt if it needed it.

  • @thestuffz thats a dayco with only about 5k on it , it is in great shape , but yup if it needed it lol ...and a belt change takes like 3 min from hood open to shut lol
