Let us have a youtube contest. Maybe at the end of every two months. People submit their best video three weeks before the judging, and everyone that entered the contest votes on it, by private mail, but they have to vote for someone besides themselves. I say, limit the number of poets to one hundred, then top three might get another vote. What do you think? David Randall Curtis could be the hub, or promoter, he's basically interacted with every good poet on here. Just a suggestion.
I pay reading fees if the press is small, but part of it is that I usually get real feedback on rejections from small presses. I don't ever pay to enter contests, because they rarely even notifiy you that you're rejected--much less give feedback.
I lean towards what you are saying as well. I have actually had some success with contests in the last year but I still only enter like 2 or 3 a year :)
