It's a pretty even match all around. Good race all in all. The 300 Driver probably didn't start off in first, could have already had his engine a little warmer (srt8's tend to have heat fits). The ZR1 held the track record before the ACR did. The ZR1 is more economical to drive on the street, if you knew what streetable meant you'd understand that.

the srt10 ram does have a more powerful motor except its heavier and less aerodynamic than the charger there is the whole power to weight ratio thing going on.
Just a side note, the viper motor started with an 8.0L until 2003 which in 2003 they came out with the 8.3L, They didnt have an 8.4 liter motor til 2008. The ram srt10 was out 2004-2006 which had the 8.3l v10, not the 8.4 L .... but youre right about the bad driver ..... that guy sucked ....

Grand National does not beat my SRT-10,I run mid-high 12's stock..(my track in sea level = quick track) A stock GNX are the same times for a QuadCab Ram srt-10 13.30's 1/4 both have tire spinning at the start..We have a bone stock 5,000 mile GNX,and a regular Grand National wont even come close,though a fast car..But GM's 6 shooter sounds like crap,at least a V-10 under full throttle,idle sounds like a V-8...

What happened to the saying No replacement for displacement?? The Zr1 proved that wrong, with 2.2L less. The ZR1 also has 2 fewer cylinders and is A LOT more streetable than the Viper.
For 20K more than a regular vette you're getting a pure luxury racecar.
GM hasn't had to worry about outrunning the Viper...The public has spoken and buys several thousand more vettes annually than Vipers.

Funny how it's been used in the past (almost) 15 years of Vettes, 4 years in the Camaro and Firebird, 3 years in the GTO, still being used in the Holdens and Vauxhalls, now used in the 2010 Camaro. A variation of the LS series is used in the V8 GM trucks, etc etc etc.

So actually Mopar HAS outsold GM in terms of Hemi to LS motors.
Its also funny to note that Hemi motors are STILL banned by Nascar because GM and Ford couldn't and still cannot beat that motor.

They charge $30K more for a higher hp motor, a carbon fiber body, a better suspension system (one that you don't have to get out of the car and pretty much have a pit crew to adjust the settings like the viper), etc.

Secondly, the "hemi" ford used was an aftermarket part. It wasn't even stock.

They always outperform the Vette except for one that has a supercharger on it which effectively maxes out their hp limit whereas on a Viper you can add twin turbos and beat a Veyron to 200mph without the fear of it blowing it up. Putting that much boost on a V8 w/ WAY less moving inertia would destroy the vette.

Any one can handle a car where you barely turn to get onto a 40 degree bank and let the back complete the turn, the only skill required is making sure you don't bump into other cars. Whereas with funny cars you accelerate from 0-100 mph in .75 seconds, have to control tire shake, keep the car straight, etc.

The only computer part about the driving in the Vette is the in the MSRC suspension setup.
The Corvette is more streetable. How is it not??? It gets better fuel economy, has a series of engine that's known for it's reliability, has cheaper replacement parts, etc.
And people who drive Vipers are better drivers than Vette drivers??? Wtf...That's like saying that an apple is the exact same thing as a tree. It depends entirely on skill level.

Really, the only electronic thing on a Vette is MSRC? I am pretty sure it has traciton control, stability control, and ABS. The first two are to aid drivers that have no true skill.
If you dont have those aids that mean you have to be a GOOD driver to drive without them, meaning Viper drivers are better drivers.

Traction control is used in a majority of vehicles today as a safety option for people who opt to drive in rough weather...Take both the Vette and the Viper into snowy or icy weather and see which one lasts the longest without losing control.
That doesn't mean Viper drivers are the better drivers, have you noticed how whenever someone races a car, they turn TCS off?? I know anyone who races in any form that doesn't TSC off before they race.

Funny, because I don't remember any of the muscle cars in the 70's which were rear wheel drive and some had 426 Hemis had any sort of traction control. So you can drive without some stupid traction control just fine in the winter.
Pff, I'd like to see a Corvette owner turn that off and see how it handles. A Viper still outhandles the Corvette whether its on or not. Meaning Dodge made a GREAT suspension that needs no computer.

Anyone dicussing about BIG modern muscle cars should know that there is an unbroken record on which a Viper lost a race against an F1 Viper jet by just a couple of milliseconds. No other car manufacturer has broken that record. Ram SRT-10 (Viper engine) holds a record for being the fastest pickup available. Besides performance, Chevrolet is a brand that everyone likes and owning a Dodge is a matter of showing everyone your tastes are different

Just a side note, the viper motor started with an 8.0L until 2003 which in 2003 they came out with the 8.3L, They didnt have an 8.4 liter motor til 2008. The ram srt10 was out 2004-2006 which had the 8.3l v10, not the 8.4 L .... but youre right about the bad driver ..... that guy sucked ....

Grand National does not beat my SRT-10,I run mid-high 12's stock..(my track in sea level = quick track) A stock GNX are the same times for a QuadCab Ram srt-10 13.30's 1/4 both have tire spinning at the start..We have a bone stock 5,000 mile GNX,and a regular Grand National wont even come close,though a fast car..But GM's 6 shooter sounds like crap,at least a V-10 under full throttle,idle sounds like a V-8...
