This video provides improper advise for pruning mature fruit trees and actually demonstrates absolutely nothing, in terms of branch selection, techniques, tools, ect. ...defeating the whole point of WATCHING. Most of eHow's content is crap.
There are some great fruit tree pruning and cultivation video on You Tube, just keep looking.
@BowHunterSDK I believe 1/3 of all foliage, after the leaves fall or during the dormant stages in winter. I know you can cut more but run the risk of shocking the tree. The best way to think of it is like a pyrimid...you want a leader up top and consecutively longer lower branches to ensure they get sun...she said circular which is correct when the tree has leaves, but bare brances should look more like a wedge.
Great vid! Thanks

By 1/3 do you mean take out 1/3 of the small branches OR do you mean take off 1/3 of each small branch? Thanks.

@BowHunterSDK Take out 1/3 of the number of the small branches, and leaving enough to shield against sunburn, . . .
