this song makes me so sad, my papaw passed away and wanted this song played with his family in the room only, my dad, my papaws only child, played it for him, and gave my papaw 1 cigaret and lighter, he said thats all he needs, i miss my papaw very much he died at the age of 65, very young if you ask me, i have never seen my dad cry until that day.

That was a great video, and that mouse learned quick, each run through the maze took less time. You did a really nice job on the maze, too, inventive use of an old game table. Sorry about your mouse, though.

We tried a similar experiment with rats using mazes made of PVC pipe, it was fun.

Yeah, it was problematic! :0D Especially when the boys got lazy and just decided to sit down and rest for a bit. The girls were less likely to just sit down and not bother.

Yeah ive got a feeling the light would make them more likely to keep moving to the end, i think darkness provokes a slumber and it would be very dark in the pvc pipes.

Well, not really. :0) Rats are nocturnal and they aren't like iguanas, who will go to sleep almost immediately in the dark. And rats don't see very well anyway, so they don't rely on their vision so much. Whether it was dark in the pipes or not wouldn't matter to the rats. It was just a pain for us not knowing where they were or how far from the end they were. We put treats at the end of the maze to motivate them, but once they were full, the boys wouldn't bother.

Things in the real world are different from cartoons.

Just for the record, I would know what mice or rats eat, I have rats for pets, and have had mice for pets. Feeding them cheese will be more likely to make them sick than putting one in a fooseball table under glass for thirty or so seconds.

The mouse uses this structure to remember locations in the maze and to navigate to the food. The same (homologous) structure exists in humans, and has been found to be significantly larger in London taxi drivers than the average person.
