I finally got around to read this. I regret it completely.
I dropped Batman after #666. Don't get me wrong, Morrison can do an amazing Superman but as far as Batman goes, Morrison simply fucked up everything.
And don't get me started on Final Crisis, which was also a clusterfuck.
Sigh.... I wish they would simply keep Morrison writing stuff that is out of continuity, he normally does his better job when he doesn't have to worry about continuity.
@PWlukersrocks Bruce Wayne is stuck in time, Dick Grayson is Batman, and Damien (Wayne's son) is Robin. "Batman and Robin" is a definite comic book pick up. Totally worth checking out.
i dont realy read alot of the batmna comics iv prob maby read like 10 but not a big fan of batman has a son or that its with talia or that he becomes batman
666 was just a once off future issue. 667 just continued with the normal timeline, but Morrison has been leaking little bits and pieces from 666 into his bat stories; clues as to how 666 would come about I guess.
This all makes my head spin. I dont know what to believe about batman anymore, its all so messed up and crazy, I will never be able to follow it all. Which continuity am I supposed to follow? I dont know I give up trying to figure it out.
Yeh it was pretty crazy, and went into Final Crisis. I'm buying the Final Crisis trade today, so I'll EVENTUALLY do another recap. It's quite a task, but a bunch of people have requested it so it will happen.
i just got back from wondercon and i spoke up to the heads at DC. i asked what the hells happening and they said well have to wait and see, and Tim doesn't think batman is dead he wants proof. and is going to find out.
After re-reading the R.I.P. storyline, everything is actually pretty clear. I have no interest in this 'battle for the cowl' thing though. Seems like its just marking time til Morrison & Quitely take over 'Batman & Robin'.
Wait wtf is going on??? first i heard batman diied in final crisis, then in issue 666 it features damian as batman in the future, then it says batman has goin insane and missing then i heard batman died in a helicopter crash while fighting doctor hurt?????/ WHAT SI GOING ON??????
You see? Oh, and when Darkseid killed batman batman played a trick on him! It was a clone batman! Then Superman came and killed Darkseid once and for all! So that proves it; knowledge can make you immortal, and that's why batman's immortal! He beat up superman.
true and this is DC almost everyone comes back from the dead, but even if Batman did really die I would mind if Dick aka Nightwing was the "New Batman"
and ultimatespiderslayer I can also see Tim as the New Batman but the thing is I think Tim should stay as Robin or become Red Robin or Nightwing cause to me I thing Tim did more with the Robin name than Dick has ever done, dont get me wrong Dick made his name with Robin and Started it to, but again I believe Tim did more and should be more than a sidekick to and become some thing more like nightwing
The leader of the Black Glove is Bruce Wayne. He suffers from a dual personalities... good Bruce is the man that became Batman, while bad Bruce has been kept at bay all these years, but is now being released by The Black Glove. The Joker is Bruce's long lost brother. Their father Thomas Wayne was everything the police file said about him, and was responsible for creating Bruce's dual personality syndrome and also for creating The Joker.
No I don't think Bruce is the Black Glove. I think Jezebel Jet is the Black Glove. I only think that though from observations I have made reading Batman R.I.P. I also don't think that the Joker is Bruce's brother. I only say that because I see that as bad writing.
Hey you also forgot about the Jokers new "transformation", other than that. Thats what that issue was about. The Joker shedding his "old skin". Excellent re-cap though!
Thanks for the break down. Those issues don't really sound like theier that good, though. And does Kubert just wait for Jim Lee to finish a book so he can take it over, or what?
I heard some crazy shit in that issue... (among other things) something like Batman's father is still alive, and his mom was cheating on his dad and his dad "set up" the whole murder thing the night he (Batman) lost his parents... and crazy stuff about Alfred. ;;>_>
The whole arc is almost finished, and when it is I will post another one of these vids all about it. Hopefully it will make more sense for you then :)
So I think the hints about who is going to replace batman are really saying batman isnt going to die. The whole "I AM BATMAN" thing with Nightwing, Robin, Jason Todd and Hush all being touted. The exact same way that Steel, The Eradicator, Cyborg Superman and Superboy were all touted as "I AM THE REAL SUPERMAN"
Are the crossovers for Batman R.I.P. important to the main storyline of Batman? I'm talking about the Robin, Nightwing, Detective Comics, Batman and the Outsiders issues. Should I read them?
I've only been reading the Detective and Outsiders crossovers, just because I was already reading them anyway. They don't seem very crucial to the whole R.I.P. storyline yet, but I can't say for sure if they won't be in the future. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to cross over directly anyway.
'Zur-En-Arrh' is the trigger phrase that is making Bats think he is Batman from another planet.... I think. It's a tie-in to some Batman story I never read from a loooong time ago. The 'floating pig' is a recurring character that Bruce saw when he was in his crazy meditation in a cage thing, which is linked to his insaneness at the moment. I think that's all correct, but who knows what's going to happen other than Morrison. It's pretty freaking sweet though.
Thanks for the catch up but the end of 678 confused me a bit. Who is the batman of Zur-En-Arrh, and why is there a pig floating behind him? I'm confused. =\
It's been said that he won't, but who knows?? Maybe Bruce Wayne will stop being Batman for a bit, or perhaps he'll end up being some other character for a while. I really have no idea. This one is hard to predict, which is part of the attraction to it.
Nice recap but you should have gone into a bit of detail about the Island of Mr.Mayhew and Batman of the World story because it introduced the Black Glove who are there to basically ruin Batman's life. Good stuff though, and Batman RIP rules thus far. Grant Morrison really is an insane genius.
seems like this series is finally really coming together. is dr. hurt the black glove or is it thomas wayne? red herring? perhaps. in morrison's comic-con interview he discusses some huge upcoming changes in the series, and he doesn't seem the one to bluff.
nice i buy the comics but i dont read them, just package and hang them on my wall. i buy the novels to read but i dont wanna break the spin if i scan lol. but yea i probubly will start scanning since your video makes it look worth the cause
Heh cool. It totally is. I think issue 199 or 200 of Wizard magazine had a scanner in it that was really big and designed for comic scanning, so that there isn't to much bending.
Nice recap but i would of went more in depth with 667-669 on the island, since they are hunted there by the Black Glove and those heroes are all kind of wannabe batmen and it's ties in with RIP.
