  • What is the relation between CFM capability and reservoir size?

All of your compressors are around 1.5CFM or less - which is much less than most air tools require, ie: impacts, ratchets, drills, etc.

The compressor will never be able to keep up with even intermittent use.

    Thanks for any info.

  • @Imahab First, all pneumatic tools (ie: impact wrench in our video) are not created equally. A properly torqued wheel can easily be removed. The lugs on the truck in the video were torqued properly to 85-90 ft. lbs before removing the lugs. A lower-rated impact wrench for CFM will always work best for mobile applications. That said, since the reservoir is small (2-gallons) and the impact wrench needs are smaller than a larger tool, enough CFM is provided to remove lugs.

  • @Imahab The compressors seen in this video provide 2.54 CFM @ 0 PSI. They are installed with a tank that holds 150 PSI at shutoff, controlled by a fixed pressure switch. Due to the speed and high pressure ability of the system, the system is able to replenish its air capacity quickly, providing for short (if any) intervals of down time while performing various tasks. Again, every air tool consumes air differently, and the shop tools you use, may not be the best for use in an onboard air system.

  • To those who don't really get the use of mobile pneumatics: This type of system is great for roadside repairs, helping out other motorists or swapping to a spare when you're off road.

  • now do the other 3 rims....

  • @nuclearthreat545 Sure... if needed. We show one wheel's lugs being removed, since only one wheel at a time would need to be removed - unless the vehicle was on a lift.
