Radetzky March, Op. 228, is a march composed by Johann Strauss Sr. in 1848. It was dedicated to the Austrian Field Marshal Joseph Radetzky von Radetz, and became quite a popular march among soldiers. When it was first played, in front of Austrian officers in attendance, they promptly clapped and stomped their feet when they heard the chorus. [wikipedia]
we traditionally have had this concert transmited on National TV since times immemorial, somehow it has become a part of our New Years Day family lunch gathering, giving us the comfort of family harmony and hope for better life and luck every 1 st of January each year, thank you Austria for being part of your joy...

today was the first time since like 6 years that i slept too long and missed the concert. i always get up, no matter how tired or exhausted i am, to see the Radetzky March... cant believe i missed it.. so thanks for uploading! :)
@spinachetowack ..Here's news for you. we don't like that "pop crap" here in the USA either. If it wasn't for the kids buying that stuff, it would die out and go away. Incidentally, one of your fellow countrymen, Orlik1946 posts some great music on YouTube. You should investigate it. There is one march in particular that is a favorite of mine...it's "Marsz Rzeczpospolita".....a Polish march...one of the best I've heard.
@spinachetowack no- you can watch it here in the US too. i wtch this every year with my family. Granted, we're European, but they do show it on American TV too. In fact, this is Austrian- its the Vienna Philharmonic- they ave one of the best orchestras in the worl- and the top ballet dancers inthe world, after Russia, of course.
It's the Shaikha of Qatar, Mozah Bint Nasser al-Missned
She and her husband, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Than, the Emir of the State of Qatar, had been the official guests of the Austrian President to the Vienna Philharmonic New Years Concert 2011.
