it is about time to hear some of these tunes on Violin and Accordion (even tho I have played guitar for 50 yrs!). I am now playing accordion and looking for such arrangements! Great Work!
@trumpetfish1 - Generally speaking (i'm a guitarist so don't know about accordion specifically) try creating lines with a lot of arpeggios in to link phrases, there's a fair bit of chromaticism. To get more of a gypsy feel, use 6/9 chords instead of major or major seventh chords, and minor 6th instead of minor 7th chords. You can get a good 6th chord feel quite nicely in a solo line by playing around with the arpeggio from the relative minor -
@grfellows continued: e.g If you're playing over a G chord, play an E minor arpeggio and embellish it rhythmically and by adding other notes in to make your solo line (E minor arpeggio contains E G B which are the 6th, root and 3rd of G respectively) - so if you take that arpeggio and play it in triplets in a decending pattern starting on b for example. Try transcribing Django Reinhardt's guitar solo on DInah which is full of these sorts of tricks.
While listening to this beautiful version, I would enjoy playing it. Did you arrange it yourself? If not, could you please tell me where you found the arrangement for violin and accordion?
@guyincognito84 I don't know if you're the only one who thinks that, but all accordionists have to learn to find their way round the bass buttons by feel because you can never see them and looking in a mirror is no help at all! Note He's only using a small area of the buttons, related to the key they are playing in.
I love the way he's watching the fiddler intently all the way through, to make sure his timing and musical expression exactly match hers.
I'm in love with this combination of instruments. I love both violin nad accordion. And this piece is just pure awesomeness. Great job! "Posílám pozdravy" from Czech. :)
Poprostu cos pIęknego takiego duetu nie slyszalem wielkie uznanie ten utwor slucham codziennie jak tylko oko mi sie otworzy i dzien mija mi pozytywnie :) Respect !!! skala od 1*10 moj typ to 11 Pozdrawiam :) AMAZING!!!
As always Eddie, your playing is fantastic! You have a great feel for the accordion and are able to articulate the emotional nuances of the instrument.
You guys are the the Greatest!! Eddie, I am very proud of the manner you interface with the violin and the violin and the accordion are almost as one, You practice a lot, Bravo Bravo

am I the only one who thinks the fact that the accordion player is playing all those tiny buttons without looking is INSANE?
