this is great!! I hate it when people belittle what I do. I've been working with horses for almost 10 years now and I'm 14 and people just don't understand the severity of what it is I do. I work with the horses that people are afraid of or have broken bones off of and I love it, so that kind of thing really gets under my skin. Equestrians risk their lives every day, we should get the respect we deserve.

@horsescanter I hope to be able to buy him/her within a year or two because I want to make sure I have enough saved before I can commit myself to my horse. If I do end up getting one I'll let you know.
@DragonFire8745 I leased horses for along tome before i was able to buy my own horse. If its a finacial thing or a time commitment issue its always a great alternative til you can settle down. Thats what I did. Its great because its just like owning a horse except you dont have to do EVERYTHING. You get to ride more then one horse too!

People are different and are attracted to different things in life, and that's why not EVERYONE is an equestrian. If it didn't work for you, at least you know what it feels like. But for those of us who are more passionate about it, it's a whole other world. I have been riding for years, and it IS dangerous to put your safety in the hands of an over half ton animal with a strong fight or flight instinct.
I LOVE this video ,, especially he part where it says " without learing to fall,, you cannot get back up " because i once fell whilst in canter . The horse i ride bucked but then reared and nearly flipped over and when he went back down he put his head down and i front flipped over his head and when he galloped off he gott myy hand :( ever since that day i have laughed when ive fallen off and got straight back up . it has also made me a better rider :D x
I rarely comment on these. The only reason I am is for constructive criticism. I'd love to see this editor mature. Better than average video and outstanding effort, but simpler would have been better. My eyes were pulled in several directions. Too many special effects coming one after another. It was difficult to enjoy the images of the horses' movements or focus on the message.
Think of early 90's Web sites with images popping up and dancing across the screen. We learned clean is better.
Also, I don't mean to encourage any arguments here but whomever is saying horses don't like what they do needs to consider...horses are a 1000 lb+ animal. If they really didn't like being ridden they'd have no diffiiculty in showing it. They are so much bigger and more powerful than us. The trust they have in us is immense.

Some horses want to race, some horses want to jump-- but most importantly, a horse will be willing to ride you to any victory if you treat them with respect, kindness, and confidence. When a horse sees these qualities in you, they will trust you, and be willing to work hard for you in return. They may not excel in the discipline that you choose, but they will try if they feel you are worth trying for.
Very true!! Especialy about confidence. I went to a jumper show yesterday and rode a fat connemara named Emmaus. We only went 2'6" and what was going through my mind was: "We are going to embaress our selves, knock down poles, crash into jumps..."ect.
It was night time. around 7:30pm.. I had never done Jumpers before.
I yelled "C'mon boy! You can do it! Good boy! C'mon Emmaus!!! Let's Go!!" and alota of leg.
He went clean and placed 1st, and best of all, He loved it.

Most people are really nice to their horses, and would do anything for them, and to make sure they're happy and n as little pain as possible. But, there are some people out there who just ride to win, no matter what they have to do to their horses.. which is stupid. in general though, equestrian sports aren't cruel.
Most riders treat their horses like family, they respect them and take great care of them. But there are other riders who treat their horses like dirt and they only ride to win. That's the crule part.
Most horses love what they do or else they woulden't do it :)

@GothicHorse13 sorry i have to disagree. no not all equestrians are,but many dont understand a lot of the truth. things that seem very normal to most people are very painful and not comfortable to the horse.
@horsegirl12341 Before you start talking about cruelty of equestrian sports-go take a look at your own videos. The horse you are riding is swishing her tail vigorously and has her ears pinned straight back almost the entire time. She's obviously not very happy with whatever you're doing with her.

Most individuals treat their horses like their children including myself. There are always a select few that have to ruin the reputation. I know more horse people that spoil their horses rotten than people that don't.
@AngelJadeF i agree. a few years ago, my trainer and her students moved to a new barn because we couldn't stand the management of the place we were at. on the day that we left, we were driving into the ranch to get the horses and we saw is one owner walking his horse and the horse looked very sick, even from a distance. when we went for a closer look the poor thing was skin and bone, was lame and had multiple wounds and a swollen eye. THAT, my friends is cruelty.

@enchantress1113 exactly. i felt the same way. i felt complete, free, and most of all, me. I ment it took me time to decide i wanted it bad, and i would be dedicated, no matter what it took. I have to say that was the best desicion in my life. I dont care if i have to get upp at 2 and go to the barn at 4 to trailer a horse hours away.

When a horse sees these qualities in you, they will trust you, and be willing to work hard for you in return. They may not excel in the discipline that you choose, but they will try if they feel you are worth trying for.

Very true!! Especialy about confidence. I went to a jumper show yesterday and rode a fat connemara named Emmaus. We only went 2'6" and what was going through my mind was: "We are going to embaress our selves, knock down poles, crash into jumps..."ect.
It was night time. around 7:30pm.. I had never done Jumpers before.
I yelled "C'mon boy! You can do it! Good boy! C'mon Emmaus!!! Let's Go!!" and alota of leg.
He went clean and placed 1st, and best of all, He loved it.

@horsegirl12341 it really isn't... it all just depends on the rider, and the horse. Most people are really nice to their horses, and would do anything for them, and to make sure they're happy and n as little pain as possible. But, there are some people out there who just ride to win, no matter what they have to do to their horses.. which is stupid. in general though, equestrian sports aren't cruel.

That's acually not true HorseGirl.
It depends on the rider.
Most riders treat their horses like family, they respect them and take great care of them. But there are other riders who treat their horses like dirt and they only ride to win. That's the crule part.
Most horses love what they do or else they woulden't do it :)
Equestrian sports arn't crule. It's people who make them to be.
I would love to hear why you think their crule :)

@GothicHorse13 sorry i have to disagree. no not all equestrians are,but many dont understand a lot of the truth. things that seem very normal to most people are very painful and not comfortable to the horse.

@horsegirl12341 Before you start talking about cruelty of equestrian sports-go take a look at your own videos. The horse you are riding is swishing her tail vigorously and has her ears pinned straight back almost the entire time. She's obviously not very happy with whatever you're doing with her.

@rhymeswithbam you have no idea what you're talking about. that was a very long time ago and i dont ride that horse anymore. back then i didnt understand anything.simple things like the bit seem ok to people but you can say anything you want but either way the bit does cause a lot of pain even in good hands.

@horsegirl12341 lol okay I'm not going to argue with you. (: But before you start leaving comments about the cruelty of bits, look at your audience. 90% of successful horse people use bits. Look at all the top riders. They use bits.
So basically, believe what you want, but for people like me, and others on here, who REALLY want to get somewhere in our riding-without a bit that's basically impossible. So if you just wanna piddle around on a horse in your backyard-go for it, get no where. (:

@horsegirl12341 I would have to agree with everyone else on this one! Equestrian sports are not cruel certain people are cruel to their horses. Most individuals treat their horses like their children including myself. There are always a select few that have to ruin the reputation. I know more horse people that spoil their horses rotten than people that don't.

@AngelJadeF i agree. a few years ago, my trainer and her students moved to a new barn because we couldn't stand the management of the place we were at. on the day that we left, we were driving into the ranch to get the horses and we saw is one owner walking his horse and the horse looked very sick, even from a distance. when we went for a closer look the poor thing was skin and bone, was lame and had multiple wounds and a swollen eye. THAT, my friends is cruelty.

@enchantress1113 exactly. i felt the same way. i felt complete, free, and most of all, me. I ment it took me time to decide i wanted it bad, and i would be dedicated, no matter what it took. I have to say that was the best desicion in my life. I dont care if i have to get upp at 2 and go to the barn at 4 to trailer a horse hours away.

@Horsecrazyglambert I'm not looking to start a fued or anything.. just curious.. did you ever actually get into horses for a year or so? Because I've been riding for just over a year and it certainly took me some time to actually get into it enough to want to be an equestrian.
