I've been watching old episodes of Scrubs recently and I watched this episode and then I watched the one in season three where Cox wants to get promoted and asks for Jordan's help and the way he and Kelso are back then to here is completely different.

he was the interim chief of medicine at the end of season 7, then dr maddox was chief for the first few episodes of season 8. since she was outed, there hadn't been anyone acting as chief
