  • @SubZeroSkyLine You are very mistaken. There are indeed good calories and bad calories. For instance, fructose, along with the calories it contains, is more likely to be processed by the liver into fat; fructose raises blood sugar and increases insulin production which can lead to insulin resistance, which has been directly linked to weight gain. On the other hand, saturated fat, and the calories it contains, is more likely to be broken down and used as energy or nutrition.

And to further the calorie argument, zero calorie diet sodas have been shown to cause more weight gain than calorie-rich non-diet sodas. Have you seen Fat Head? If not, you should watch it right away, you would enjoy it.

  • @OramAndy I watched Fat Head just yesterday! I absolutely loved it. I immediately told other to watch it. I learned so much from it. I have experienced it in the past 2 months myself. I've been eating more fat than ever before, just cut carbs and I've lost 25 lbs in 8 weeks time, without ANY exercise. I'm living proof that calorie in/calorie out is not as simple as it sounds.

In the 6000-person, 60 year ongoing Framingham Heart Study, it has been shown that the people who eat the most fat, cholesterol, and calories are the healthiest. Furthermore, it's spelled "you're", if you're gonna call someone a dumbass, spell stuff correctly and do your research first.

  • @adamdevo People are so misinformed when it comes to weight loss / weight gain. people gain weight because they took in more calories than their body burns up. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. it can either be used or saved as a stored energy form if it was un used ( body fat ). if you create a calorie deficit through either excercise or eating less or a combination of both. weight loss will occur.

  • @SubZeroSkyLine Not all calories put into the body have to be used or stored as fat. Some can go right out the other end. There are people out there who burn half as many calories as they eat, and they are still skinny. It's a LOT more complicated than that. It's what your body decides to DO with the calories that makes the difference. Thus, counting calories has little meaning for weight loss. You can even burn more calories than you're taking in, and not lose fat.

People on the Atkins diet burn more of their calories rather than storing them as fat. Here: "Rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same." That's quoting the results of a study by Princeton University. Even at the same caloric intake, some rats were fatter.

  • @turoniner I have. I lost 55lbs BRAH! I went from rice and tuna and chicken breasts and oatmeal to whole eggs and bacon and grass fed beef. About 60%-70% fat nearly the rest protein. I ate low fat for nearly 20 years, off and on because I got frustrated when it stopped working. Oh and I cut my workouts in half and I am NEVER hungry and I don't crash during the day like I used to. Try it yourself see how it works for you.

  • @turoniner Carbs raise insulin levels which raises body fat percentage. You also have to eat more carbs to be full. Fat signals satiety, or when you're "full". So it's plausible to say that when MloaderGraphics was eating a low fat diet, he was eating more. But eating more does not make you fat. If a high-fat dieter eats twice as much food as a low-fat, high grain dieter, the former will probably be healthier and lighter.

  • @OramAndy Well you made a LOT of leaps. 1) Carbs DO raise insulin levels which raises nutrient UPTAKE. Not necessarily body fat percentage. Just uptake. You could stay at maintenance levels with right caloric balance. 2) It's plausible to say most anything. You could just as plausibly say that on a high fat diet he was eating more 3) A high "grain" dieter could easily be healthier and lighter (with most vegetables, legumes, and whole grains) than a high-fat dieter (bacon, cheese). Sorry, friend.

  • @turoniner There's a guy on here, who was actually directing his comment at you, who has lost 55 lbs by switching off grains and to bacon. There are tons more like him. A person would most likely have to eat more carb-rich food (by weight) to be full than the same person eating fat-rich food. This is because the intake of fat signals your brain that you're full. Fat also takes a while to digest, unlike grains, so you're full for longer. And I am not saying that eating more will make you fat.

  • @adamdevo it's not just about cutting out carbs, it's about REPLACING CARBS WITH FAT. That is what I do and I lose weight like no other. Get YOUR facts straight and pick up a science book. I can eat 1,500 calories of straight carbs and I'll GAIN weight and have 1,500 calories of fat and protein and I'll lose weight. That's just how it works.

  • @Jazzabelle85 actually YOU should read science books you are so ill informed its not funny. 1500 calories from fat is the same as 1500 calories from carbs....you just need to eat more fibre (such as veggies) as this will fill you up more on less calories. I eat over 300g of carbs a day easily and I'm less than 10% bodyfat with NO cardio just weight work. Plus carbs are the best fuel source for exercise. Get off the no-carb bandwagon and start enjoying carbs. Remember: energy in, energy out.

  • @adamdevo i do... pretty much every time i train now i'm running on between 50 and 100g of carbs a day if that, and i'm breaking all my PB's, only a few more weeks and i'll have a 2.5xbw deadlift and 100kg clean, carbs are hardly necessary, ketones would happily replace carbs as an energy source if you were fat dependant (and i mean fat from natural sources) also note the fact the grains, soy and most processed 'foods' can't be properly digested, hence why people take huge dumps, too much waste

People are eating too many refined grains and sugars, which are not natural to the human appetite and do not digest properly, causing high blood sugar due to decreased effectiveness of insulin to break it down. People then overeat to get fuel to their body cells, since insulin can't break down the complex sugars into fuel. Thus people get fat and diabetes.

  • Today's society is fat because they are lazy. The average working individual(at least those I know) eats take out, frozen dinners or processed foods nearly every day. People just refuse to believe(or just don't understand) that if you exercise, eat smaller portions and eat healthy, low salt/low fat meals you'll lose weight and be healthier. Have the occasional snack or higher fat meal. But limit it. Take out? No more than once or twice a month. Veggies should make up half of your plate!

A bowl of shredded wheat for breakfast has as high of a glycemic index as a snickers bar. Both are going to breakdown as sugar in your body.
