i personally think it wasnt well received because nothing was at stake, in the end SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! prof X is still alive, the cure wears off on magneto, phoenix used no fire and her death was corny, cyclops died off screen ONLY because the actor was away, angel was a waste even tho he looked cool plus this was the end of the trilogy. i could say more but i'll end with saying magneto moving the bridge cancels out a few of those bad points

1)Cyclops had to die due to the fact that James Marsden was also shooting for Superman Returns and coudlnt do both movies

Cyclops is one of the leaders of the X-Men and he got killed while having little involvement in the movies. WHAT THE FUCK? Even if he had to do Superman, they didn't need to kill off a leader. The Professor didn't even need to have a proposed death scene. Ratner and his obsession with Wolvie. He's cool, but damn let the other characters have some development. It's just a big fuck you to everything from the comics. I look at the movie as a stand alone. X2 needs a sequel. Did look good though....

I agree, the movie was a massive f-you to the fans of the (film) series. Christopher Columbus came in, made it all fluffy, and it lacked the darkness that the Bryan Singer movies possessed (not that Singer is without blame. After all, he abandoned the series to direct that shite Superman movie). Also, the vaccine was a classic gyp. The first movie established that the powers were the result of evolution, and were part of the mutants' genetics. THERE IS NO WAY TO VACCINATE AGAINST GENETICS.

Actually, blame Fox instead of Bryan Singer. He was going to come back to finish his Trilogy the right way, but Fox rushed the movie and fired him because they wanted to beat Spiderman 3 to the box office.

I thought X3 was actually the more comic-bookish of the trilogy. A real tribute to the over-the-top stylization of the entire set. I suppose, that is why many people didn't like it.
