To all Americans and Europeans clicking into this song by chance, this is typical Aussie Oi Oi Oi song. Light-hearted, easy going, laid-back, happy-go-lucky, plenty of Bundy beer but most importantly no arse/tit flashing like Gaga or a black rapper intervening in the middle of the song like today's "Baby" or "Price Tag".
I just wanted to say, I was never a fan of Australian Crawl, but when he brought this song out, I instantly liked. I put it in the same mould as Tim Finn's 'Hit the Road Running', I think is the name of the song, both classics. Awesome song James.
Mate... the good ol' Bundy Rum features in this clip! Yeah I bought the Cassette album that this song is on, as I couldn't afford a CD player at the time! Simple great music in those days.
This one takes me back to when I was 13. One of those great songs which was flogged to death on radio playlists at the time and then permanently discarded forever after but once I got the best of CD was taken straight back to a song I'd forgotten about. Jim is a legend.
There was an attempt a couple of years ago to release a definitive Australian Crawl / James Reyne DVD with all the music videos. However, a "rights dispute" between certain music companies saw it shelved permanently. As a consequence of this nonsense, fans are left antagonised and artists are deprived of income from potential sales.
How typical :-{ Hopefully James will get some flow on sales / legit downloads as a result of 1st time potential fans stumblin' across this classic material ;-)
I always play this song on the tape deck when I'm driving to the coast and back. I love it.

Instead of the Enigma code during WWII, they should have used Reynesie!

i've seen James in concert a few times and he always used to replace "batphone" with "shoephone" .....tribute to get smart I guess

LOVE it. Learned the song & album when I lived in Australia in 1989. Thanks for the memories!

Always a favourite.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't James Reyne become a big hit in South America, especially Brazil, during this phase in his career?
