  • my hero this speech brings a tear to my eyes i so dearly wish that the republic of India had such leaders to my american friends to those who oppose what bush did you shall one day look back a say the direct oppsite

  • i hear these speeches about how our troops are fighting in Iraq from my teachers when the class is being a bunch of pathetic idiots but really washington does not know what their doing their ruining the country and unfortunately we are on decline this war is nothing but something to keep making money and the best fights ever fought was in world war 2. this is a war full of horrors but also great history.

  • Shut the fuck up about Iraq and enjoy the fucking movie scene. Fuck.....

  • This is a good reminder that the Congress has to declare war.

  • @oak71 against.....?

  • Well besides George Washington FDR is probably the best President we have ever had. Additionally war has no black and white only shades gray. History is written by the victor.

  • By far FDR was the greatest president we have had or will ever have!

  • 3rd best president after Lincoln and Washington

  • "We've been trained to think were Invincible" trained by whom? the Zoo?

  • @cultofmao what?

  • good movie, but historically inaccurate. i used to hate watching this movie for that reason.

  • Yesterday, September 11th, 2001, a date which will live in infamy, the United States of America, was suddenly and deliberately attacked by terrorist forces of the extremist group, al-Qaida...

  • @OleScrubby

And then spent billions killing children in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • @OleScrubby

I had imagined and hoped George W. Bush would be saying something like that after 9/11.

  • @1987AnimeBoy

Are you that confused? George W. Bush stood strong after the 9/11 attacks. You're obviously a Liberal.

  • @OurFuture24 So the only reason Bush stood strong was because he was conservative? How very disengenuous of you.

  • FDR was such a great man, he was dying to come to the aid of my country (his ideological enemy) for the greater good but knew congress would never allow it. Without men like him and Mr Churchill there would be a lot more men like Hitler around to this very day.

  • we learned about this in school . but watever my world history techer said was wrongg.

  • i hate how the declaration of war speech wasnt complety original with the real one

  • The greatest U.S Democrat President in history

  • @sgt365 And he has 4 presidential terms to prove it.

  • @sgt365 Best president, period.

  • war is a thing that cannot be changed or stopped but wat we can change is how it happens this was a suprise to us and we striked back at the heart at full force

  • Dropping those bombs actually saved the lives of millions of Americans and Japanese military and civilians .

  • The day after it was estimated 3000 we didn't know for sure so the movie was just being right on on what happened. And we had to drop those bombs there was a belief that to beat the japs we would literally have to kill every single man woman and child.. and it might have.. the war has already seen more death then any other war in history of man so what were we to do? If we put boots on the ground that would mean millions of Americans and Japanese would die.. its a shitty thing

  • @THEBANKO1 nothing can justify the pearl harbor attack. Japan got what it deserved. You are a fucking idiot.

  • @karate1243 the pc u r using is surely japanese trololololo

  • I think this movie provokes your feelings for nothing.....i mean after all we did nuke the motherfuckers...oh and its 2300 soldiers not 3000.....and its weird how they released this movie in 2001...hmmm....

  • its good hollywood, makes such thankless films.. it rekindles hatred.. sorrow, and neo-sentimentalism, patriotic paternalism.. all for the sake of money. Funny isnt ? in 1853, 4 black steam ships of the US, sailed into tokyo harbor.. by force. Capitalism destoryed, feudal Japan, giving birth to militarism.. then to defeat, then again US occupation, capitalism.. recovery, and now, just like 1923, tokyo earthquake, political discord.. thanks america, gotta love ya.

  • just like john locke from lost. "dont tell me what i cant do!"

  • WHAT A GREAT SCENES:) *tears*

  • A state of War

  • japan sent in waves of planes, and now got waves over their country... theres karma for you

  • @blindskater10101 oh? and what about america that attacked vietnam without provocation? wheres the karma for that? go to hell you racist pig

  • @blindskater10101 3,000 dead in Pearl Harbor, 33,000 dead, on March 11... Vietnam, 58,000 dead Americans, 3 million Vietnamese dead... karma, is just a word.. meaningless, humans, trying to give meaning, to a moment, that deserves none.

  • It is strange how approximately 50 years ago, the Japanese were our enemies. Now, they are one of our greatest allies. How much of this world has changed!

  • it amazes me how people say how horrible it was of japan to attack pearl harbor. first, America was asking for it, they kept saying how invincible they were, they were proved wrong, second how is pearl harbor wrong? it was a military base, that means that it was fair game, unlike the US that dropped nuclear bombs on CIVILIAN city's. people love to bitch about 9/11 but its the same thing that we did to the Japanese, exept this only effects one generation, not like what we did to japan

  • @TheBANKO1 you're a dumb fuck

  • @karate1243 really? why? because i actually use my brain? or because i dont fallow whatever the government tells me?

  • @TheBANKO1

    1. your just an arrogent prick

    2. There is no difference between a civilian and a soldier. Both are capable of murder.

    3. We dont love to bitch about 9/11. That was like a bitch-slap and america, killed the mastermind and threw that bitch in the ocean!

  • @assassin1911kya there is a difference, if a civilian kills a person his a murderer, in the eyes of society.. if a soldier kills a person, be it a soldier or a civilian of the other side, he is known as a hero. that is the recognition of war.. but i assure, such an idealistic presumption, no longer exists in the eyes of those who remain, those same people who lived through the flames of war.

  • @assassin1911kya 1. how am i an arrogent prick? because i refuse to allow other people to do my thinking for me? or because i believe in the fact that history is writin by the victor? 2. im going to disagree. soldiers are trained and told that they might die in battle at any moment. they live each day in the feild knowing that this could be their last day on earth. civilians (especially american ones) believe that since they arent soldiers that the war wont take their lives.

  • @assassin1911kya 3. people still use 9/11 as an excuse to stay in iraq and kill more people. im not saying that 9/11 was a horrible thing that happened. life is precious, whether it is an american or any other human being on this mother earth. what bothers me is people like you who think that you have more rights to live then someone else. what makes you so much better than someone else? is it because your an american? if thats the case then i dont want to ever be calle an "american" agian.

  • @TheBANKO1 Haha you don't nothing about the war in Iraq

  • @TheBANKO1 is not fair game if it was an unprovoked attack without a declaration of war...

  • @Toanly1990 and what exactally is a "declaration of war" is it a peice of paper? is it when that first blow is struck? No, it is when both nations refuse to accept each other. for all intents and purposes america had already declared war on japan. what do you call "embago's"? what about military blockaids? just because we didnt openly attack them doesnt mean we didnt start the war. america is not some hero who comes riding in to save the day. we are a nation motivatd by its own interests.

  • wow the actor playing FDR is really good, his voice is perfect for this speech

  • Amazing.

  • The Roosevelts were the strongest leaders america has ever had, along with Lincoln and Kennedy.

  • @lordxeras I agree, but George Washington has to be on that list as well.

  • @lordxeras Don't forget George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams

  • @xxwaterboy1xx John Adams was a terrible president

  • @joe697 What? He built the US Navy with the "Naval Act of 1794"

  • @lordxeras You might aswell put George Washington on that list. I mean, Ameirca may have not existed if he never helped the colonies during the Revolutionary War.

  • If that speech doesn't send chills down your spine, then you have no spine.

  • "Do not tell me it can't be done!"

That's probably the most badass scene in my opinion.

  • Mein Führer, I can walk!!

  • FDR was a bad president because Glenn Beck says so and he's always 100% right.

  • The standing scene is one of the most powerful scenes in the world. FDR, you're a king among men!

  • roll my eyes... lol

  • 101andrewj fuck you dude...your from Canada...and Canada sucks cock...hope that puts you in your place a little

  • i think this the best speeches ever

i think peeple need to let go off the past tho

  • 69th anniversary today on this date December 7, 2010

    TAPS

  • If only we had someone that strong leading us now.

  • @dsbailey701 John F Kennedy was up there too

  • @dsbailey701

amazing how relevant that cabinet meeting is today isnt it

  • @BENIJARLO It wasn't a cabinet meeting. It was, what we'd call today the National Security Council. The General sitting next to FDR was supposed to be George C, Marshall, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He was responsible for all war strategy. He appointed Eisenhower and MacArthur (with FDR's approval).

  • @MegaObserver1

Thanks for that. Real history beats fiction by far.

  • This is from the Movie Pearl Harbor.

  • FDR was a fucking boss.

  • @rockleetlotus he was "The Boss"....what a baddas!

  • When I saw PH in the theater something happened I had never seen before at any film in any theater I had ever been in. When Voight spoke the words "do not tell me it can't be done" the packed house erupted in applause. Not a single clap spreading virally, I mean a spontaneous thunderclap of deafening applause. This was pre-911, things were different then. But watching that film in that moment there was no Tea Party, no Palin, no division. And that's why this is one of my fav scenes.

  • @Turnback Me too dude. When Voight made that sentence everyone was clapping in the theatre where I was at years ago. This may not the best war movie i've ever seen but it certainly has one of the best scenes out of any movie I have ever seen.

  • 101andrewj Did you ever hear of the Cash and carry policy when the U.S. was supplying Canada and England to fight the war, or the Lend lease Act again when the U.S. was not only supplying them but also loosing american ships and sailors to keep them fighting! Myguss would be, No you did not.

  • i am aware the USA did some things to help canada and britian in the early years of the war... and i am aware that more then a few american ships wer attacked in the antlantic pre pearl harbor... but they could have done so much more... imagine if the USA contributed the exact same devotion to the war in europe in late 1939 as canada and britian did, the USA at the time made up over 50% of all the english empires strength and they put in less then 1% of the effort...

  • fdr was a fuckin pussy, canada was fighting nazi germany for 2 years before fdr declared war on them, even tho america was over 10x the size of canada... if the coward had acted sooner, millions of lifes could have been saved

  • @101andrewj Do research. America didn't just sit and watch it happen. Throughout the war the U.S. gave supplies to the British to defend the Germans and China to defend the Japanese.

  • @InsertName03 research says, battle of britian 1940... 1 out of 7 planes is canadian built and piloted spitfire... this was when britian was under heavy air siege and every single plane was very important.... this was before america officially decided support britian and they had given the british less then 10 pilots and about the same in aircraft... america didnt pull its shit together until 1943, before that they wer a joke

  • @101andrewj we had no reason to before the attacks dumbass.

  • @SirTim123 mabie, to say, prevent the attacks.... your government went and seriously pissed off the empire of japan... and they did it while their military was smaller and weaker then japans... does that sound like a smart move?.... to me it sounds like you got exactly what was commin to you, and without the A BOMB, you wouldnt never defeated them

  • @101andrewj Fuck you...

I...I can't even express how pissed I am at your stupidity...

    Just..shut the fuck up..

  • @WackyMcSpankypants whatever, reality hurts

  • @101andrewj dumb canadian. Canada does not have one significant moment in history other than seth rogen and canadian bacon. Cant trust a country that has more elk then people.

  • example, when canada captured vimy ridge, it was one of the most heavly defended positions in history. after months of british and french failed attempts and over 250 000 casualitys they let the canadians give it a try, 99% of the canadian military had never been in any sort of combat, yet in 4 days the ridge was completly captured by the canadian army. and all this happened while the big tough USA isnt even yet at war, but hey, americans tend to forget history that makes them look like pussys

  • @101andrewj canadians hate america due to the fact america has always outperformed canada, whether it be medical research, advance in techonology and military dominance. And yes, i call it america, due to the fact when anyone ever thinks of this continent, usa comes to mind, not canada.

  • i call USA america, even tho canada and mexico and another 25 countrys are located in america too.. but that dont prove shit. and i dont hate americans because they are better then me or my country, i hate them because they are arrogant, ignorant, and generally uneducated and bias about anything canada related.. do you have any idea how much canada helped out on some of the largest american projects to date, like the manhattan project or moon missions? you prob think it was just americans

  • @101andrewj Canadians are pussys USA USA FUCK YEA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • look up ww1 records and see what the imperial german military commanders thought of canadian soldiers, many high rank germans wer quoted and recorded that the canadians wer the most fierce and dangerous of all english opposition, they even came up with the name storm troopers or Sturmtruppen in german to describe canadian infantry. when a country 1/10th the size of USA is kicking ass against a seriously powerful enemy while USA does NOTHING, it aint pussy its brave usa was the pussy doin nothing

  • @101andrewj Hey retard before you make a statement you should really check your history. FDR wanted to go to war with Germany and Japan long before Pearl Harbor. The American people didn't want to go to war b/c of the great depression and the fact that the had already saved the world once before. You have no place to talk being a Canadian. Yea Canada helped out in WWII but they were just on the side lines cheering while the United States did all the work.

  • @kjjones4 canada was part of the depression too, but that didnt stop us from acting when it was right, and on the sidelines? canada was the largest contributer per capita out of all the allied countrys, and on d-day, canada had its own beachhead, the USA only had 2 beachheads, altho it had over 13x the population of canada, and still canada was the ONLY ALLIED COUNTRY to meet its d-day objectives, and they did it with a tenth of the logistics and support that the americans and british had

  • @101andrewj CANADA SUCKS BRO, FACE THE FACTS

  • @capone50 yeah and america is a awesome wonderland were everything is perfect... fuck you im glad i wasnt born in the USA

  • Comment removed

  • germany fought on more then 2 fronts, against more then 2 superpowers, and america had over 50 million people then germany at the time.. now you are right that the USA fought a 2 front war, but nearly 90% of the USAS warfighting resources wer devoted to japan, very little effort was spent on nazi germany, because the other english countrys, britian australia and canada, + russia wer already fighting germany, i never sayd USA did nothing in ww2, but they wer DEFFENTLY scared of germany 1939-1942

  • Comment removed

  • @kjjones4 america didnt become a powerhouse until late in the second world war... germany sent 4 million troops to russia, at that time the american military didnt even have 1 million people in it.. no shit they wer scared. why do u think the refused to join in the beginning of the war, because they wer strong? im just saying, america didnt really fight a 2 front war. they fought japan, and a little bit of germany, however germany fought the russians and the english, with no help

  • @101andrewj GERMANY FAILED. America became a superpower after WWI. The entire world owed them money which is what sparked the world wide depression. Then you are confused. The one million the US had was their STANDING army. Germany had instituted a draft that's why their military was so large. Once the US did the same no one could match them. I'm still waiting on any historical evidence that the US was scared because one dumb ass in Canada isn't enough

  • @kjjones4 so u think if america had the power they do today they would have still sat out the beginning of the second world war? they sat back and grew stronger while they let their enemys expend their resources and grow weaker.. canada was scared of germany, as was britian and france, but that didnt stop them from instantly declaring war, instead of sitting back for 2 years while the world plummets into despair and war.. you think they wer reluctant to join because what? its not their war?

  • @kjjones4 the historical evidence is: every english country other then the USA was fighting nazi germany for 3 years before america decided to join... even tho america had the same relationship with britian and france as canada had... every single war today that america fights is not their war, and they have no business being there, but that doesnt stop you right... but when a war really needed to be fought, ww1 and ww2, that was your main excuse for doing nothing.. america was a coward

  • Comment removed

  • @kjjones4 man its like arguing with a retard... IT IS POSSIBLE TO WANT TO EXPAND, AND ALSO BE SCARED OF NOT BEING ABLE TO COMPLETE THAT TASK... and for the 10th time, they let japan expand, spead out, and same with germany, and they let china take japans most powerful blows, and they let britian france and russia take germanys, then, when both their enemys had become weaker, they decided to jump into the fight to help sucure their empire... you talk about logic yet seem to have none

  • Comment removed

  • political leaders dont come out to press conferences and say; we are too weak to fight this war... they come out and say its not our war to fight or some shit... again, today if there was a problem like this, would the USA sit it out for a couple years while canada and australia go into total war, no fuckin way, and why, because they are the strongest, and noone can challenge them, but in 1940, germany and japan could of taken them, so they did nothing, and logicly why? because they wer scared

  • @kjjones4 ok sure... you hear of earnest king? he was in charge of the US navy in the atlantic, put there by your beloved FDR... hes the same idiot who refused to adopt the convoy system until 42 because he hated the english even tho canada had been using it successfuly sence 1939, and he was responsible for the successful attacks by german submarines on lone US warships, eisenhower even sayd to FDR " this war will end sooner if someone shoots king" yet he was never relieved of command

  • @101andrewj Now its just sad what does this have to do with our argument...NOTHING. You must be pretty damn stupid this has nothing to do with America being scared to fight. What your you trying to prove..that America had one bad admiral or what ever his rank was. AND YOU STILL HAVE NOT ANSWERED MY QUESTION WHY AMERICA LEAPED INTO ACTION ONCE THEY HAD A REASON TO FIGHT. I HAVE ASKED YOU THIS 3 TIMES NOW AND YOU HAVE NOT ANSWERED IT. ANSWER IT OR I WIN THE ARGUMENT

  • @kjjones4 yeah america wanted to stick to themselfs, until the end of ww2, when their main competitors wer all destroyed, and their strongest allies weakened, they decided to change foriegn policy, because they wer no longer weak and there for no longer scared of defeat if they fight wars... im sick of this arguement, so we will leave it with this fact, canada fought the toughest enemy in modern history for years before america, whatever their motivations, canada stood tall and america didnt

  • @101andrewj stop trying to blow yourself. Canada did nothing until the United States got involved. If you were British I would say yes but your not. There wasn't a major Canadian battle until after the United States got involved. Yea Canada was an important ally but they did not suffer like the British and to say so is an insult. And our main competitors destroyed..Hear of the USSR. Were was Canada when the USA was squaring of with the Russians?

  • america was never at war with the russians, it was just bullshit showboating abd canada declared war in 1939, and fought much earlier like in the battle of britian early 1940, look this up. 1 out of 8 planes in the sky is canadian built and piloted spitfire... if u kno anything about this battle you would know it was probably the most important in all of britians history, and every single plane was of major importance... this is a battle that britian barly won, there was less then 20 US pilots

  • @101andrewj America fought the Russians indirectly up until the 90's. I have never read once that Canada side "hey we've got your back" or "If you go to war with them you go to war with us." We were on the brink of war numerous times. Then you bringing up Canada's contribution in the battle of Britain is a joke. The British only recognize 83 Canadian pilots hahaha. We'll call it 112 cuz that's the highest number Ive seen. That is 3rd behind Poland and New Zealand!!! Continued

  • @101andrewj WOW and 23 Canadian's Died!! What a huge contribution, you guys saved the world!!! This is a joke right. The US lost more lives sending supplies over to Britain so that they could fight. Like I said Canada wasn't in a Major battle until after the US got involved and it is evident from these statistics. Your argument is pathetic

  • @kjjones4

Actually Russia lost many more lives then the U.S.. Of all the Allied Forces it was Russia by far. Not that I'm trying to defend or patronize them, I hated the U.S.S.R. but I''m just telling you the truth.

  • @101andrewj Do you realize that Britain and France joined the war in 1939 because German was invading their allied countries in Europe? That was on the same land as France and Britain so they had no choice. Canada joined because they belonged to Britain. The USA didn't join the war until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because before that, they really had no reason to join. Their homeland wasn't threatened by Germany. I acknowledge the fact that Canada did do a lot, please get your facts straight.

  • @101andrewj And also, if you were the president of a country still recovering from a economic depression, would you not be scared of a multi-million man strong military of a country that dominates half of Europe? I can't believe that there are ignorant people like you in the world that can make stereotypes of more than 300 million people based on something like this. "Arrogant, ignorant, and biased"? Really? There are people like that all over the world. INCLUDING Canada.

  • @meequalssmart canada suffered the same if not worse from the great depression... i understand not wanting to get involved in the war, but look at america today, they get involved in every war... but when they wernt the toughest, they wernt so quick to join, if america had stood beside france and britian in the beginning hitler may have never done anything and ww2 MIGHT have been stopped or atleast been half as bad...

  • @101andrewj it wasnt our business untill europe proved to be to weak to hold back a vastly out numbered enemy. also japan attacked, which ment war with japan and its allies, including germany.

  • @kjjones4 "of course im scared you think im reluctant because im happy" -FDR

  • Comment removed

  • @101andrewj Maybe you guys can't read up in Canada but you need to reread my points on this page because you don't answer any of them. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE POINT. All you can say is that if America was so strong why didn't they fight. I have provided you numerous reason but you only have one. Unless you can come up with something stop embarrassing your country

  • @101andrewj Maybe you guys can't read up in Canada but you need to reread my points on this page because you don't answer any of them. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE POINT. All you can say is that if America was so strong why didn't they fight. I have provided you numerous reason but you only have one. Unless you can come up with something stop embarrassing your country. Come on give me something you gave me a quote. That is it. IT TOOK ME TWO SECONDS TO FIND ONE THAT CONTRADICTED IT. STEP YOUR GAME UP

  • @kjjones4 cont the canadians fought to the last man, less then 5 canadians survived the attack on hong kong, and they inflicted over 30 000 casualties on the japs... all this while the USA is literally running the opposite direction, in FEAR of a japanese invasion... im sure you also know that every single german or japanese born citizen in america was illegally put in jail out of FEAR... of course USA was scared alot, so was every other country at war with the axis.. now stfu

  • @101andrewj lol. Call the Axis weakly? Yeah, that why the German trapped the majority of the UK forces in their homeland. Or push through Western USSR all to the gate of Moscow. The Japanese with their advanced naval wipe out any British resistances in the Pacific. Face it. Even Stalin himself confessed without US industrial might might. The Allies would be defeated. US bombers took out most of the German industries. As well finishing off the Japanese fleet by itself.

  • @916ppl We took by Burma and Malaya from Jap Navy and Army forces, and the British industry was the one that built the ships, tanks, planes, and guns for the Commonwealth nations, and many for the US and Russians also. It was mainly Bomber Command that crippled German industry, the Damnbusters, heavyraids, Mosquito attacks etc.

  • @stig781 What? You need to research again. US alone was producing 45% of the world arms and two out of every three ships floating belong to USN in WW2. The USSAF took the heavy damage for the RAF. The USSAF B-17 and B-24 had to fly into Germany during day time without fighter escorts for two years straight. While the RAF operated during night time which limit the threat of enemy fighters and AA. Also, the British wasn't alone in Burma. Several Chinese divisions took part in securing Burma.

  • @101andrewj Ok where to begin in your flawed argument. First Pearl Harbor was on Dec. 7th Dumb ass. Now the beginning of your argument says that the US made a calculated choice to let Pearl Harbor happen and let our enemies grow weaker. Now that has NOTHING to do with the US being scared to fight a war. Also on Dec 7th the Japanese attacked the Philippines and every American there fought to the death. Does that sound like people afraid to fight? Continued

  • @kjjones4 dec 8th is when the japs attacked south asia, dec 7 was pearl harbor, it happened on the opposite side of the international date line, so altho the attacks wer occuring about the same time, it was actually on the same day, and i am aware of what the americans did on the phillipines, the difference is, they wernt abandoned there by the canadian fleet

  • @101andrewj Now arresting hundreds of American Japanese families wasn't the best day in American history but that has NOTHING TO DO WITH AMERICA BEING SCARED TO FIGHT THE JAPANESE IN A WAR. That is not fear that is paranoia. Apparently Canadians don't know English. All your examples are DURING the war. Give me an example BEFORE the war. Do i have to spell it out for you fucking dumb ass. AND YET AGAIN YOU HAVE FAILED TO ANSWER WHY AMERICANS WERE READY TO FIGHT ONCE THEY HAD A REASON!!!!

  • the answer is, america let the oil embargo weaken japans reserves, limiting its navys range for attack, and america let germany invade most of europe and spread themselfs thin before they decided to act on them, as for them jumping into action after pearl, i think FDR knu about pearl, after all on the day of the attack, all of americas aircraft carriers wer " out to sea " which is very rare considering america was at war with nobody at time time and they cost millions a hour to run, CONT

  • cont, and if america lost these carriers at pearl, they would have lost pacific war 100%, so my bet it was a projected target and a cold and caculated decision by FDR to gain public war support... so like i sayd, america sat back and built up their forces while they let their enemys grow weaker, and let their weaker allies take the front of the axis attacks, and when they finally jumped in, the germans and japs had wasted their energy so to say,

  • @kjjones4 same thing happened with 911, america wanted to expand its empire...but its gotta have a reason to do it, and something to motivate american civilians to go and kill other people... america occupyed like 50 countrys after ww2, canada just helped beat the nazis and went back home... i dont know how many times i can say it, there is no historical quote where a american says, WE ARE SCARED, its just clearly evident because of their actions

  • @101andrewj Well if you can't prove it I win. I've backed up my point and you can't seem to find any conclusive evidence to deny it. Nice try once again Canada comes after America. Now your stupidity is evident in thinking that America stayed in Europe to expand it empire. Britain and France also stayed in Europe to maintain stability and to keep the Russians from spreading communism. Clearly you are an idiot if you can not see this. Every historian agrees with this Continued

  • so america didnt stay for their empire? , howcome there is still 50 000+ american troops stationed in germany and japan, even tho both countrys are official allies now... canada is not in iraq at all, but we did decide to help america in afghanistan, and its not to make a empire, its to help our allies and get some experience.. the proof is, for america being scared, is their lack of declaring war for years, today would they wait 3 years, no, because they are too powerful, 1940 different story

  • @101andrewj Lancasters! Not mostly US bombers you obnoxious troll.

  • @101andrewj Then if you think that America went to Afghanistan to expand its empire then i really pity your life. Have fun cleaning up garbage on the side of the road. You know Canada is one of our allies that has troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. I guess Canada is looking to get some territory in the middle east. You must not be a very well educated person because every point you make can easily be taken apart. Not one has stumped me in disproving. I can see why Canada is so shitty.

  • @101andrewj Oh and you just admitted America wasn't scared to fight the Japaneses. If we wanted to expand our Empire and were looking for a reason then clearly we were not scared of them. Wow thank you for giving me the win. Sorry but you can't have it both ways either we wanted to expand our empire by defeating Japan and Germany or we were scared to fight them in the first place. Thank you dumb ass

  • @101andrewj Easy. One, the British and French, both severe weaken by WW2, want several American divisions in Western Germany to ensure that the Soviet remain in Eastern Europe. Britain and France, though allied with Germany, did not want to see it rise back to power and pressure the US to maintain troop there to deteriorate any extreme German's act. Japan is similar as well. However, I do agree US do not need the bases anymore considering USSR is gone and Germany along with Japan are now allies.

  • another ex, dec 8th 1941, the japanese attack pearl harbor and then half of the south pacific, the canadians agreed 2 months earlier to help defend hong kong island, and a couple thousand went their to support the couple thousand british troops already there. they wer protected by the american navy, after pearl, the american navy flee back to hawaii and left nearly 10 000 canadians and british and australians on hong kong island, wer they squared off against 100 000+ japanese invasion force cont

  • @kjjones4 why is it impossible to expand and be scared? like i sayd, ameria was scared, but they wanted to expand, so they cut japans oil, let japan expand over half the world, then they fought them in a less concentrated form, so they had less to be scared of

  • @101andrewj I guess logic isn't something that value up in Canada. You say America was looking to pick a fight with Japan and Germany. But they where also terrified to fight them. Those are polar opposite points of view buddy. Only to a schizophrenic would that make sense. You don't pick fight with someone your scared of plan and simple. I guess some town in Canada is missing their retard

  • @kjjones4 how many americans got killed or hurt fighting in world war 2? what fuckin leader would not be scared of inflicting that much damage on his people, even if there is a good reason to fight, like defeating evil or expanding control of a empire, it doesnt mean that america wasnt scared, leaders are their to lead, not to scare the public, im sure you know alot of truth about america that would never be sayd out of a leaders mouth, but that doesnt make it any less true does it

  • @101andrewj hahaha now this is hilarious first you talk about be scared to stand up and fight a war and now your changing your argument to being scared to complete a task. Make up your mind. You call Americans coward when they clearly wanted to fight once they were pissed off enough. And also those wars you mentioned were a change in foreign policy. Maybe you've heard of the Truman Doctrine. At that point in American History we wanted to keep to ourselves. Maybe you should do a little research

  • @kjjones4 alright you win, america wasnt scared, they are never scared, they are the toughest and bravest country to ever exist, and they just sat out the beginning of the 2 most important wars in history for fun, just to see how many people can die before they decide to join in and save the world, because you know, you cant go to war if its not your fight, unless you count korea, vietnam, bosnia, iraq, afghanistan and every other war that the americans had no problem fighting right away

  • "Yesterday, December 7th, 1941,a date which shall live in infamy, the United States of America was suddenly and delibirately attacked by naval and air forces by the Empire of Japan."

  • "Yesterday, December 7th, 1941,a date which shall live in infamy, the United States was unexpectedly and delibirately attacked our naval forces in Hawaii."

  • FDR was the best President of All time. He deserves to be on Mount Rushmore. Seriously. Pulled us out of the Great Depression, and led the United States for 4/5ths of the deadliest conflict of all time.

  • @oTRAGICo Actually, WWII got America out of the depression. Yes, FDR helped a lot, don't get me wrong. But after the war Europe was devastated for obvious reasons and Asia was devastated as well.

  • did FDR really stand up? Is there any proof of this? Or was it just for effect?

  • @quicksketch90 I dont know if he did in that particular instance but he COULD stand up, he wore 10 pounds of solid steel leg braces on each leg, he suffered almost total paralysis when he first fell ill in 1929, then he fought to regain use of his upper body. But his legs were forever lost to him. He taught himself through excruciatingly painful exercise and self discipline to stand and even walk a few feet by twisting his torso. At the time the media and public didnt know he was disabled.

  • @timewarlord The media often was aware of his disability, but they chose not to report it. They basically had an agreement with the administration - something today's media would never do. There were a few articles displaying his full disability in magazines and even a few political attacks about his infirmity, but the public didn't care. They knew he was a great man.

  • @klw7789 Thanks I never knew that, If only the modern media could have the dignity and respect of the news men of those times.

  • @SaberOtaku true but it was very inspiring.

  • in looking at this it seems to me that the only way out of this economic hell hole is another war. not one of these limited ones where we'll use only about 100,000 troops. But full blown, all out war were it requires more workers in factories, more soldiers, more of everything except nukes. looking at it WWII brought us out of economic depression and one would bring us out now. it's probably the only way since no one in the government can come up with ideas that will help us.

  • @BEW560 where are those killer robots when you need them?

  • @BEW560 WWII brought us out of economic depression because it destroyed every other industrial power on Earth and gave us about ten years of no competition.

  • As Roosevelt waited and waited Japan's Attack, he was pleased at the news of Pearl Harbor Attack. Because he knew that the Attack would make him a hero.

  • FDR was one of the greatest presidents of USA. For a long time I didn't understand, that after his 12 years of presidency, why did write the 22th Amendment, which prohibits the president to run for a 3rd term....

Than I think of George W. Bush... and I realise they're right.

  • "THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN THIER RIGHTEOUS MIGHT WILL WIN THRU TO ABSOLUTE VICTORY". 2010 THE NEW WAR ON THE ECONOMY. ITS TIME TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK BECAUSE IT STILL BELONGS TO US!!!!!!!!

  • I WISH FDR WAS ALIVE NOW TO GUIDE US IN THESE TIMES!!!!

  • FDR is fucking hero in thise conutry will live right now he was the man!

  • Obama would apologize to the Japanese and tell everyone to be tolerant to the Japs. HA def not a FDR

  • The man was essentially a dictator. No man has dismembered the constitution more than Mr. Roosevelt. The New Deal myth will live on until we have become a more enlightened people. I commend him though on his leadership through the war.

  • @Ipetratz Dictator just like, Bush Sr, Bush, Reagan, and Nixon :D

  • Jon Voight is number one!!

  • This was a time when Democrats had a backbone.

  • @megaplexnews Well we didn't really have a pair of legs :D

  • FDR, easily the greatest leader in history, he took a nation writhering in the great depression and turned it into the greatest superpower of the world.

  • @Falcon764 World War II is the only reason the Depression ended. Im not saying FDR was a bad president, but he certainly had nothing to do with ending the depression. Before WW2 jobs were scarce. After Pearl Harbor, war supplies need to be made and therefor millions of factory jobs were created overnight.

  • @oTRAGICo that depends on how you look at it, i mean without him the depression would of been far worse that it was
