Why don't they just automate the equipment itself instead of building an entire humanoid robot? That's what mythbusters would do.

wait, what? they are short on workforce which is why they are building robots. If they had 1 billion plus in workforce like china then there is no need but japan have less than 60 million active workforce. That is incredibly low for the third largest economy in the world.
