  • As far as I'm concerned, the Judeo-Christian God is real and He gives me judgement/discernment. I don't intend to foist my opinion on others. The fact is I know He's real.People who believe in evolution are liable to espouse a lot of ideologies that clash directly with my sense of reality and ethics, eg. The existence of aliens, the idea of catagorically ethical and innate homosexuality, malthusianism, communism, nihilism, anarchism transhumanism, etc etc. I say go for it, but it won't end happily

  • @pollychocker sigh...

  • @pollychocker You do know that evolution has been completely proven right?

  • That's nice to know...

  • This is a masterpiece! Well-balanced, impartial, all-inclusive, expansive and ultimately optimistic! Brilliant work! All credit goes to Frank Theys, the creator of this film, of course.

I admit I was getting worried in the beginning of the vid with the focus on the wonders of a new techno-world (that's what they said in the 50's), but the inclusion of the spiritual & mystical aspects of science & human evolution were more uplifting.

Personally Im a Buddhist so the last part is the best.

  • @MauiSkyWatcher How do you, as a Buddhist , justify yourself as being worthy to be in Gods presence?

  • @imbiased The question sounds like a challenge. Justification is not required. Worthy or not, I am always in the presence of god. All life is sacred, including mine.

Buddhists don't reinforce the neurotic concepts of original sin, guilt, and repentance. We believe in original goodness - alaya - the fundamental state of existence which is benevolent. It is learning to live with your own sanity, trusting in the basic abundance and generosity of the Universe. Not saying it's easy - but possible.

  • @MauiSkyWatcher not a challenge, just an honest question. I am not very knowledgeable about the beliefs of a Buddhist. So is Buhdha the creator of us? If not, who is? Are we not ultimately accountable for our actions by the creator? Surely you would agree that we are born with some sense of right and wrong?

  • @imbiased Well, Im not an expert scholar on these subjects either, I defer to my innate sense of intuition on these matters. A buddhist would say, stop asking so many questions and just listen. You know, the old saying: Praying is talking to God, Meditation is Listening.

Of course there is a sense of morality in most functional adults. But right and wrong can change with time and place and circumstance. The basic precept remains: First Do No Harm.

  • @imbiased On the subject of creation - we are ALL creators, creating our own reality. We are responsible for the power of our own actions, words, and even intentions. Buddhism trains the mind to focus on positive manifestation, while releasing negative thoughts, "For with our thoughts, we make the world." Literally.

Also consider the animal kindom and the "lilies of the field". They feel no need for justification or repentance. They are simply doing god's work without malice or regret.

  • @MauiSkyWatcher So if we create the world with our thoughts, from whose thought did we come from? "lilies of the field" and animals are corrupted with sin as we are. The truth is we have a creator. Through visions of God and things not yet happened, spoken word, literal parables and the recording of these things for the rest of us, God has revealed himself. If you do not seek God, the creator of all, with an honest and open heart, he will not reveal himself to you.

  • @imbiased How are plants and animals corrupted with sin? And even if they are, they are still worthy of all the abundance of earth and sky. The sun shines equally on all, does it not? (At least it used to before global weather modification programs contaminated our atmosphere with aerosol particulates)

Buddhists seek god too - the experience of a higher awareness that is available to all. This awareness of soul or the unity of all life is not given a limited personality, thats all.

  • @MauiSkyWatcher typo, plants and animals are NOT corrupted as we are. What limited personality are you referring to? Our minds are finite, which makes our experiences limited. The only thing that is capable of breaking the bounds of our minds is the creator. Gods mercy, love for man and grace are what man should seek if he wished to break the limits of the mind. Without a relationship with our creator we are destined to remain lost.

  • @imbiased Umm, okay. Can we both be right?

  • @MauiSkyWatcher No. God has made it clear through his prophets whose words have not failed, there is only one way to the heavenly father, that is through the Messiah Jesus. Now stop and take a pause ... If you truly seek enlightenment, take 2 minutes out of your life (or however long it takes) to clear your mind, open your heart and ask the one and only true God to reveal himself to you and convict your heart to do his will. Ask him to enter your life and show you the truth.

  • @imbiased Sorry. I tried, I really did, I studied the Bible from the Hebrew for years, waited for the moment of "salvation" that never came, and went on to study all the major religions from the original sacred texts. I now believe that no one can hand you your belief system - you have to create your own, bit by bit. I respect all spiritual beliefs, but I have a problem with any belief system that leaves anyone out, or condemns those who believe differently. I think even Jesus would agree.

  • @MauiSkyWatcher There is no "moment of salvation" that you experience that I am familiar with. Salvation is necessary because, as I am sure you will agree, none of us are perfect except he who created us. How can you justify being in the presence of the creator? How? Salvation is not earned. You receive salvation by acknowledging God and the sacrifice HE made for your sins. Because ONLY a perfect sacrifice is good enough to redeem us to a perfect God. After all, what do we have to offer God?

  • Great info, thanks for sharing.

  • @TheRickCarterChannel Thanks for watching.

  • A look at the disturbing new and rapidly advancing technologies.

    Questions:

    - Will we create a superior Artificial Intelligence that wipes us out?

    - Will we instead become "god-like" immortal trans-humans that transcend the human race as we know it ... and even death?

    - Will these "advancements in technology" be perceived as a new stage in "human evolution"?

    - Will these "advancements in technology" become a false messiah with promises of living forever?
