that is crazy!! we actually just had a tornado here like 5 minutes. im not sure if it was a real tornado or if there was just sirens.. but i am sistting in my basement. looking for any footage of what might have just happened.. btu tthat is insane!!!
It all seemed so quiet until I saw that funnel! Yikes!! I heard nothing from you until you said,"in the basement, in the basement now". I may have screamed louder than that, but then again, I've yet to see a tornado in my life. This was surrealistically spooky.
So I totally read the title to this thinking it was going to be like everybody else's video and just show wind and rain but when I saw that tornado pop up, it scared the piss outta me. I didn't expect it at all. GREAT footage♥
Incredible footage!!! I have some pretty intense footage but your footage here tops my video (Insane Violent Winds - Labette County, Kansas - July 12, 2010). Wow!!!
@NathanWithrow Thanks Nathan - really love your videos as well - I truly wish I could travel to the storms more, instead of catching verything out of my back door. I regret on this one not panning to the right for a few more seconds to catch the main funnel - but better safe than sorry!
dam that was too close for comfort there !!! we got caught out side before when a funnel cloud came through my back yard F2 watched everthing on pool deck got sucked up into the sky never ever found it ripped trees down there to wow good video though glad you and family where not hurt take care john
Oh My Gosh ! Incredible footage, I can noy believe you were not in basement when u seen that tail dang dang dang I woulod have droped right there.. Awesome footage. Did you have any damage there at your home or around that area . ?? It sounded like your wife did not want to go to the basement..
@ConChaz100 My inexperience really shows here - my family and I had never seen anything like this before to fully grasp the danger that was imminent. We were lucky. My house had only a few shingles damaged, but other houses all around ours got a lot worse. No deaths or injuries, thank goodness.
All the rain around all the houses is rotating at high speed and your still filming next time get in the basement soon as you see a rotating wall cloud i think your family was very lucky that day.
devils advocate: correct me if im wrong, but do you actually have your children look out the window at an UNPREDICTABLE RAIN WRAPPED TORNADO? at close range? its not more than 100 yards away! at least put the kids in the basement if you're going to film it. i know you may think you "know what youre doing" but the erratic motion displayed within that circulation at 0:12 is not a small or weak tornado. It's a sub-vortex of a larger, possibly damaging tornado.YOU SHOULD BE IN THE BASEMENT
I agree completely. I got caught up in the moment. My family was in the living room but not looking out the windows - severe weather doesn't interest them.

that seemed like a tornadic vorticy (which is a small short lived tornado that is usually within strong to violent tornadoes)
