  • Simply beautiful. Usually I frown down upon adaptations of classics like these, but this one had a lot of heart and spirit to it. Thanks for posting.

  • As a young boy of about 10 through about 12 years old(1961 - 1963), I was fortunate to have had singing lessons with Ann Ziegler in Johannesburg So. Africa. Webster Booth would often come in and they would sing together to illustrate a point. You would not believe how hard it is to sing like that. She was a very nice and patient teacher. Only fond memories

  • Thank you for your comment. I also had lessons with Anne and Webster at the same time as you and was Webster's accompanist when Anne was away and I remember playing for you! Happy memories!

  • One of the songs they taught me was "Oh for the wings of a Dove" (a hard song to sing with lots of hich "C's"). Another was Silent Night in German! "Gutten Arben Gott Nacht" (spelling)

  • I particularly remember you singing "Die Roos"!

  • Do you have a recording date for this lovely , lovely song ?.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the song but I'm afraid I don't know the exact date of the recording. I imagine it was recorded some time in the late forties. The record number of this 12" 78rpm is HMV C3460.

  • @duettists I have since found out that this song was recorded in 1945.
