  • k. you came now go back to where you came from, to many damn people moving into our town.

  • Is this City interesting ? for a german like me ?

  • I love New Braunfels because it's heart warming

because I love the neighborhoods with small houses

and my dream is to live there when I grow up!

  • I live here and have worked at schlitterbahn for 5 years :) i still love it

  • i live in new braunfels nice place but the kids there are asses

  • i love new braunfels, i wish i lived there

  • OY!!! My old girlfriend lives there. Good thing I didn't marry her. She turned out a bit ugly... not that she was ever nice looking. But she did serve a purpose during that youthful time of my life. I still smile about the Mickey Mouse incident.

  • what is the name of the song?

  • i worked for schlitterbahn last summer ia am an international student from Turkey i like schlitterbahn and mew braunfels people in there r very good i missed there thank u for this video :D (vedat)

  • i hate this place. i live here. its hot, humid, and i work at schlitterbahn and i hate it. tourists keep this place alive.

  • what is the name of the song i love new braunfels but my tia move to Cypress Grove and there place is bored is 10 minuteso f new braunfels

  • Whoo Hoo New Braunfels Rocks

  • Wow haha my sisters car is in the picture of downtown W san antonio st. Its the white ford Explorer. And Just a note that fountain on the plaza has been taken out by some bad driver or another three times that I can remember. Once it was a drunk teenager. dont remember the second time, but the third was an old fart who fell asleep at the wheel. I'm 16 and I wouldn't live anywhere but NB, so Omiof, I agree w/ ya. However I can't say I like Schlitterbahn, lived 4 blcks from Schl wst all my life

  • (9)I can't simply go home and tell myself "This weekend I will go tubing or relax in my yard".

No I will listen to my too close for comfort neighbor mow his lawn or weed eat. While I try to figure out where I can go to escape the noise! I wish that I would have taken more time to enjoy New Braunfels before I grew up and moved away.

Hey I can always drive for 3.5 hours for a little visit.

  • (8)As a kid I used to say "I can't wait to get out of this town", But now I live in a town of almost 200,000. It is a tourist town. Next year when The Dallas Cowboys stadium opens up I am going to have a really tough time getting home from work, it's bad. Enjoy New Braunfels while you can.

  • (7) Now then, for all of you who feel that it is super important to write negative things and turning it into a racial or economical thing, grow up. This could be the reason people don't find you interesting. No one wants or likes to be around a negative know it all nerd.

  • (5)When I tell people (with pride) that I am from NB they tell me how they enjoyed their visit to the cute little town, and how nice the people who live there are.

Although New Braunfels has grown to become a huge tourist site, I always go back every year for Wurstfest, stopping in for my creme puff at Naeglins.

  • (4) Buying penny candy at Pittman's as you said "hi" to the old men drinking their coffee and telling stories, get "Chinese" candy at Keno's, dressing up for the Kindermasken parade and enjoying the Comal County Fair, (biggest county fair in Texas)Cruising down river road, with a carload of friends as the driver decides to turn off the headlights screaming "The goat man is out there".

Man those were the good 'ol days.

  • (3)I miss waiting for your movie to start at the Brauntex, watch the hot rods with their fancy paint jobs cruising by. "Swimmimg" in the now "Preserved" areas of Landa park, Jumping off the rope at Hinman Island (or stinky falls whichever you prefer), going to camp Warnecke to swim, (because the spring fed pool was too cold and the "olympic" pool was closed for repairs). Standing on the dam at Mission Valley Mills and yell a warning to tourist on tubes about the approaching dam.

  • I really miss the days when you could shop at Paul Bruners,or The Hang up, Woolco or Winns. Stop in at Henne's to get a coke at the back of the store, walk by real slow to sneak a peek into the Black cat bar, eat the best Saurbrauten at Krause's Or have a milk shake at the "Ol Bossy, or a cheeseburger at Sip 'N Sup. (2)

  • Love my New Braunels, the town my German ancestors settled 1845 & my husband got here as soon as he could. This video shows just part of the downtown section and a bit of the area across the Comal River. This is where all the tube places are which aren't attractive, and Schlitterbahn.

The area is truly pretty with the Hill Country to the North & West; farming, dry land ranching to the East and South.

I am glad we have kept our "downtown" intact and restored many of the old buildings.

  • My ancestors settled in Neu Mainz/Mentz TX in 1845. I think they passed through New Braunfels on the way. :)

    Maybe they came over together!

  • go UNICORNS.born and rised here its not a small town its really big but you make it seem borin when it not

  • There's that public school education at work. Grammar is a subject in high school by the way.

  • WOW! Great video. I lived and was born in NB I like it! Thanks!

  • I love New Braunfels, I got there almost every year to stay at a Schlitterbahn resort, tons of fun! I'm from Granbury Texas though, both cool towns!

  • Beautiful photos, great transitions, great music...is it one of the McGarrigle sisters singing? I was raised in NB and yes, things have changed, but there is still the small town feel here. You captured it! Please come back and spend more time. You are welcome any time!

  • in New Braunfels there blacks?

  • Yes, there are Blacks. As we were never a town where much cotton was grown back in the early 1900's most African-Americans lived further East of New Braunfels. We do have a diverse group of people. From a few German descendants left and their families, plus Hispanics, Blacks, Asians and you name it. We have them and love them.

  • i dont care wat itz called

  • ha!

  • it's called "town square"

  • The Plaza is what it is called, town square is what the paper sometimes call it. But they are all from another place. The Plaza has a BAND STAND on it. As a member of the Unicorn band I have played on it and even have sung a Christmas Carol on it. Band stands were popular back in early 1900's and we are proud of it. Just been rebuilt to exact specifications of original.

  • u just did down town go to oder places where itz more ghetto

  • I really don't get this fascination with "ghetto." Most towns have what residents call a "bad side." That is a given. I won't just go to the "bad side" because it is bad. I will go wherever there are interesting sights and good food and pleasant people. Even the "ghetto."

  • New Braunfels doesn't have a "ghetto" but with the beautiful Comal River which runs cold and clear through town it is seperated by a bridge. On the side we old folks call Comal Town is where Schlitterbahn and the tube places are. Not the beauty spot of New Braunfels. Still is my town . . .

  • go unicorns!!!!!!

  • hel ya

  • it is not small anymore strandedinar

  • if any of these people actually lived in the west side they would kno its not that bad. i live there. and i can walk the street at night wiothout getting shot. so yeah.

  • The "other side of town" is always bad. Unless you have been there.

  • sorry i ment to put it up

  • ok i live here and wow what a stereotypical image!!!! this place is loud noisy scary in some parts!! why dont you go to the ghetto!!!! West side

  • you just scared it aint that bad unless you white michagine street bitches!!!!!

  • Michagine street bitches. Are the street bitches in Michagine all white?

    Where is Michagine?

Are they the only ones to fear going to NB?

  • Well, it is hard to get past the superficial in a two hour visit. What I saw, I liked. What I liked I photographed.

  • I just bought a new barbecue. It is from Char-Broil, a Silver Smoker. It is a New Braunfels offset smoker. I love it. Great design. I love this thing.

  • nb is my hometown

  • it is not quiet and peaceful at all but i like d schlitterbahn itz fun

  • I grew up in this "small town." I enjoyed the video and the opportunity to see a glimpse of the town I called home for so many years. It was a great place to spend my formidable years.

  • i love this town because is my hometown i luv N.B .

  • Well, i think it was pretty awesome, every single little picture you posted had alot of history behind them...may not be the whole city, but it defanatly is the heart and soul of my home town. Good Job, and im glad you liked it here :-D

  • weird. Its like a promotional video for the town or something. :P We're really not that small... and not that peaceful either... But if the tourists like to see it that way, so be it. More money for the city.

Still, though NB isnt really like that, its a nice vid.

  • hey i went to jail there!

  • I suspect the water park is better.

  • Sure ur not confusing Seguin with NB?

  • Ha New Braunfels is known as a drug town are you kidding???

  • beatiful quiet town.

  • I love new braunfels es muy bonito y su gente es muy amable I am from Veracruz Mexico and I go to traviling in New Braunfels is beautiful I Really love this town

  • Bienvenidos siempre!

  • You have to eat at Clear Springs Cafe next time you visit.

    Great catfish.

  • i live in new braunfels in santa clara street

  • Hello! I liked most of the pictures in this video... and recognized all of them; I live here in New Braunfels. Sadly, however, the town is not all quiet and restful as you portrayed it to be. Unfortunately, many things here are like what happened to me yesterday: I got asked if I knew where to get weed 'around here'. That is not what New Braunfels is like completely, but it exists, reluctantly for the ones who DO care about the town.

It is a small town and I love it all the more for that.

  • i live in NB.

    & i love nb.

    thanks for the post.

  • thank you for posting this. NB means much to me. In 2002 I lost my heart on Stolte Rd, NB. In mid 2006 & often since I've personally visited New Braunfels. It was everything I was told. Landa Park so beautiful, the riverwalk at NB & Gruene which I walked at dusk - the train tooting its horn continually while I was at the park & in the town center - the town bell tolling. You've done great justice to this wonderful town in your photos. Thanks again.

  • Thanks for your comment. The response seems largely positive, which is nice. Actually, this little video has had more comments than any other I have posted. A pleasant surprise.

I hope I can visit New Braunfels again, for a bit more time. It seemed quite pleasant, a town moving into the future and holding to the past. From my limited experience, they seemed to be doing it well.

  • this video sucks this is like just a small part of our NOT A TOWN you want a town go to freakin shiner or san marcous or something 50,000 people live in that town if you think its a small town try walking from the high school to wal mart and then tell me if its a small town BITCH!!!

  • Strangely energetic negative response. I am unsure what the emphasis on size is. I have been in major cities in five countries. I have been in small towns in the same five countries. I tried to enjoy each for itself. I stopped for only a short time in New Braunfels, and I liked what I saw. I made the video to celebrate the experience.

I am sorry I touched some nerve of yours pertaining to towns and their relative sizes. Hope you find a nice place to live.

  • Thanks, for a small glimpse Of my hometown!!!

    Harlan

  • this vidio is not at all what our town is really like... yes i recognize all the stores and stuff but this makes it look like were all a bunch of small town hicks in the middle of nowhere and were not

  • Ew.

    I live here.

    *cries*

This awful town makes me feel so...

    conforming.

    People aren't accepted here.

You have to be the same old nice dressing cattle kid.

    Yay for diversity.

    Too bad it's not here.

  • So freaken true! NB is pretty lame!

  • What are you talking about?A cattle kid? What? If you feel conforming it is your fault. I have lived here for over 65 years, am now 71. And I do not confirm to anyone and am not expected to.

  • Ty Omieof4 Life is what you make of it. My parents moved to NB in 79. So I don't know anythingelse but NB but frankly it was the best move they ever made. Had we stayed in the Midwest maybe we woul dnot be doing as well as we are now. I rememeber when there was nothing outside the Loop or south of 35. The town has grown...practically overnight.

  • I loved it. Was raised in New Braunfels, but moved to California 2 years ago and feeling home sick! You made me feel really happy to see some of what I remember! Thanks

  • Well, it is not the sleepy little town you left. It has swelled to possibly 45,000 people. Many from California... lol I hope you make it back some day to see how it's grown.

  • It is quite possible I will Californicate the area in a few years. My apologies in advance.
