<3 my mum had a watch with mother VHS and I used to love watching this as a kid, I am going to be 20 later this year and I hope when I am old enough and have children of my own they too can watch gems like these and enjoy them
They used to play this all the time on Nick Jr when I was little and I adored it. I hate the new CGI version; it's rubbish! Ahh, I love getting all nostalgic for the stuff from my childhood, I might only be sixteen but time really does go too quickly...
Do any of you remember The Railway Children with Jean Anderson as the mother, with that beautiful Grieg music for the introduction and closing? Our lives were so different then.
Amazing flashback! It is 1963 and I am 3 years old, sitting two feet away from our fuzzy black and white television totally transfixed by what I am watching.
And I can comprehend, just a little what my children see in Teletubbies and In the Night Garden
@dsteamer100 You're just 3 years older than me as I was born in 63 :-). I can also remember Andy Pandy on our old B/W tv. These were innocent days but it makes me sick how some people try to attach 'unhealthy' connotations to kids tv programmes such as these
I had never heard of Andy Pandy until a friend who is a Scotsman - and lives in Edinborough (spelling?) - told us about watching the program on television when he was a boy. He mentioned Andy Pandy with strings so, dense me, didn't realize he meant they are puppets. LOL. They are cute here. - Paula
Well of course you'd think it scary because you are of a different generation.I guess you'd be scared to go 100 yards from home without your mother holding your hand
Brings back so many good memories , things were so much easy back then , kids appreciated the simpler things in life , too many kids today (including mine) are too spoilt for their own good and appreciate nothing , they seem to skip childhood and grow up too quickly getting everything on a silver platter................
aw, come on.. it's not that bad she sings for like 5 seconds! haha. too young to remember this on tv but my dad kept these watch with mother vids i watched all the time =] woop
i remember trying to guess what the letters would be as the boxes turned....obviously very young as not realised they always spelt andy pandy!! well, I was 3 in 1963
Admittedly it transported me back to the early 60's sitting in front of the steam telly - I can even smell the valves warming up I swear it....but hang on! Innocent days? well we probably were but what about Andy, Teddy and Looby Lou going off to bed together in that basket - a wild wickery threesome.
I am in my 50's and was pre-school when I first this, it was about toys that moved on their own, that got my attention...I just loved it
My kids watched a muppet film over and over again.. Andy Pandy creaters, must have known how children like to keep seeing the same thing over and over, so 26 episodes would have probably been more than enough...*L*
I never liked this as a child, it confused me. Andy Pandy was dressed like a girl and acted like one but had a boys name. Confusing..it still is. What sort of role model was this supposed to be to young children.
It wasn't supposed to be ANY sort of role model - it was supposed to be a puppet show for kids, which is what is was!!! What's your views on Punch & Judy, then? I bet you think Punch should've undergone anger management courses and Judy should've taken self-defense classes...."role model" - do the world a favour and GET A LIFE!!
@gspete1340 punch and judy shows trivialize a serious issue, domestic violence. andy pandy on the other hand portrays the innocence and purity of childhood. they may be puppets but a deeper meaning is apparent to intelligent people such as myself.
@mitzi7416 Er . . .what you on about, it's just a bleeding kiddie’s program not The Times Crossword puzzle. Deeper meaning my arse! Next thing you'll be telling us that the Wombles represent the convoluted dilection of an esoteric parabola created to remonstrate our magnanimous British approbations. I tell you sir or madam, your sardonic psychobabble is endemic to what Godless heathens like yourself use to destabilise our country. Je vous souhaite bonne journée Monsieur, bonne journée! :o)o:
Because around 1957/58 Britain was awash with American TV shows which brought about a change in the accent and the way the Brits used slang. Not only that there was also mass immigration from Carribean countries that shaped the dialect
was that sandra kerr, the brilliant voice of madalene the rag dol ,even though shes a folk singer.?

It's tragic. The same thing happened to "Mamby Pamby" and that old "foolscap", then we discovered it was actually an MP in the corner.
