If a Republican President had done what OBama has done, the press would be beating him up everyday. I responded. Asking Judd Gregg to be your token Republican is not reaching out. He changed his mind when he realized that he would not have any voice in anything. Romney or Thompson would have been good. However the issues are more important than the face. Issues like prolife, pro-marriage, border security, illegal aliens, fair tax, and smaller government would have been overwhelmingly supported. Instead, the media pushed McCain on the party, who has never been a conservative. He betrayed the party several times on important issues like campaign financing and blocking judges.
I will attempt it when I lose, but so far, you have not made your case.

1) Make the board secure. (Doable)
2) Round up illegals and deport them. (Doable)
3) Prison time for ANYONE who knowingly hires an illegal alien. (Doable)
4) Change the law so that if you are born in this country to illegals, YOU ARE NOT LEGAL.
5) Remove Federal funding from any program, including schools and states, that knowingly harbors or services illegal aliens.
These alone would have been enough!

Why do we need to state explicitly that it's actually their policies we want to fail? Politicians are elected on policy proposals. What if they are bad policies? Should we hope the politician succeeds but that his policies fail? Does it make any sense for Republicans to say, "I do want Obama to succeed, just not at implementing his policies,"? How do you separate the politician's success or failure from the success or failure of his policies? People who advocate bad policies should fail.

At the same time, China buys American govt bonds in order to keep its currency low. The chinese ability to maintain this house of cards is limited. Quite frankly, the lack of basing arguments, beliefs, goals, and agendas off of evidence instead of ideology is why I left the Republican party years ago. Hell, I was raised in a christian, conservative, MILITARY family that wouldn't vote democrat EVER, but after the way I saw Bush treat the environment and handle 911/Iraq, I started breaking free of my upbringing. Yea, I've heard of the Bush tax cuts. Those were the biggest tax cuts in history if I recall, but it only cut taxes to corporations that want to move outside of the United States. Oddly enough, right after this was passed Halliburton moved outside of the US and now stations itself in Dubai. Halliburton, by the way, had Dick Cheney as a CEO, was the largest US Army contractor until very very recently, was paid lucrative sums of money to "rebuild" Iraq where it "lost" tens of billions in tax money

I used to be a Republican until 2004. Obama has been in office for a little over a month. I am not a Democrat either but I am not completely happy with Democrats either. But we are in the worst economic crisis ever in my lifetime. I am giving Obama the benefit of the doubt until I have reason not to. We have to be smart about the facts. I have heard Cenk state both sides of the issue. I don't like Repub. simply because they are too corporate and don't give a fuck about everyday Americans.

Most of them don't realize they are just being led around by "the message wars" to support policies that cut them off at the knees every time. They are being taught a form of non-debate by abrasive pundits who embody their fantasy of shouting away their frustrations brought on by the lost opportunity (courtesy of Reagan).
