@brownp72 It's called delayed offside. It's still offside. It's just that the ref allows the offensive player to exit the zone. If he doesn't exit, he will be called for offside. At the moment the goal was scored, the player had not left the zone. Example: If it's delayed offside and an offensive player stays in the offensive zone without leaving it for a period of time like 5-10 secs, the ref will just blow it down.

if an offside shot goes on net, it is usually blown down right away. If the shooting player knew it was offside at the judgement of the ref, it would be intentional offsides. There is no delay of game for a goelie refusing to stop the shot, he has no resposibility to do so because it entered the zone illegaly

This could actually classified as Delay of Game. If Hasek had stopped the puck, then the play would have continued because there was no whistle. But since Hasek let it in, the play stopped...

If you think technically, yes, it did delay the game. But the ref would have to be the most idiotic being on the planet to ever give a penalty to a goalie for simply not stopping the puck.... does the goalie on one team get a penalty every time the other team scores? Because letting a shot in delays the game, right?
