This is put in place so that players are not violently smashed into the boards without the other player making an attempt at the puck. Tucker's sole goal was to smash Sami as hard as he could, he didnt give a fuck about the puck. Not to mention if you pause it at 0:09 you can clearly see both Tucker's feet r off the ice. My favorite is when Darcy Tucker goes at it with NY Rangers Sean Avery #16...those guys hate each other's guts, but Avery goes out of his way to get Tucker to act violent towards him...which makes Sean Avery so entertaining.

not to mention Sami never touches the puck with his skates, he is trying to stop the puck along the boards but he never gets a chance because he gets plowed first. I am a Tucker hater because of how he plays. He is dirty and basically useless unless on the doorstep on PPs....

It was clean. In the same way you can't purposely touch a puck because you'll void the icing call, you also can't just not touch the puck because you're going to get rocked. that being said.

Ironic you hate people who think they know it all when in fact your definition of boarding is inaccurate. This is straight from the rule book: The foul of 'boarding', defined as "check[ing] an opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to be thrown violently in the boards" by the NHL Rulebook. Does not have to be from behind at all, maybe by your house league rules but not NHL. Ive played hockey my whole life so relax, I do know what im talking about. It wasnt clean, thats my only point.

you just proved my point?! you have to be thrown into the boards, where in this video to you see him thrown into the boards? kapanen was riding the boards and got crushed... by your logic any time a big hit is put on some one along the boards that it is a penalty? I think you just dont understand the rule.. The penalty is in the game so situations can be avoided such as when there is seperation between the player being hit and the boards because usually the player will go head first into them

Dude the rest of the rule states that a player cannot use the boards to aid him in making physical contact with a player if he is not attempting to win the puck. This is put in place so that players are not violently smashed into the boards without the other player making an attempt at the puck. Tucker's sole goal was to smash Sami as hard as he could, he didnt give a fuck about the puck. Not to mention if you pause it at 0:09 you can clearly see both Tucker's feet r off the ice. Charge anyone?

I didnt think it was boarding either until my buddy who is a ref pointed it out to me that you cant use the boards to ur advantage if you are hitting someone.....but I gotta admit, most of my comments are more directed towards my hate of darcy tucker as a player and not the hit LOL

and about that video, this was after Bell destroys the clown with a gorgeous hit, then Heatley KICKS Tucker, so Tucker says watch your knees, he fucking kicked him. Heatley deserved to be in his own passengers seat after that.

If you think that a puck touching the skate of an opponent for half a second is considering "playing the puck" then you are honestly dumber than I had previously thought. Not to mention, how about you look up the definition of boarding. This hit was as far from clean as you could get...but you should expect nothing less from the dirtbag tucker. many times if the player has the puck just in his skates, it is legal to hit them, he actually made intentional contact with it

Boarding is a penalty that is called whenever one player viciously body checks an opposing player into the boards in a potentially dangerous manner. Even if the check appears to be legal, meaning that the offending player properly executed the body check, it can possibly be called a boarding penalty if the referee deems it necessary.

I love the Flyers and Sami and hate darcy tucker. even when i was watching this i knoew it was a clean hit. maybe not by the new rules but it was at the time. didnt matter though, he got to the bench and the we won the series. Kapenen had the heart of a hockey play that, with the way the game is played now, you will probably never see again.

so that's the last shift of Leafs playoff hockey ever since? They are the only original 6 not in this year. I'd stick the Original 6 in their own conference bracket so there's a guaranteed O6 team in the Stanley Cup finals. Or stick TOR back in the Norris with the DET and CHI, haven't been the same since.
