  • too good to be true..very very good, i feeling a very happy memory CONGRATULATIONS

  • If you are from the 70s ,you know that MFSB SOUND!

  • This album was produced in part by Norman Harris, whose contribution to the Philly Sound is exhaustive. The majority of songs on their album

'It's Rough Out Here' were arranged by him as well,in addition to Philly stalwarts Ron Kersey, and Ron Baker

  • This Lead Singer is so versatile.I have this album and always thought 2 different singers shared on this song!He changes his voice very well till its hard to tell the differrence!!

  • you are absolutely right. The lead singer of this song is (was) Henry A. Channelle III. He is deceased. He and I were frends since we were about 5 years old. I know and went to school with all of them. I still see the other three on rare occasions. They still live in Durham, NC and I live in Chesapeake, VA and visit family in Durham about every couple of months.

  • Thanx so much for the info!I guess there were so many great groups back then ,it was hard for any group to be the top dog!Did this guy always sing growing up?What year did he die? With the right promotion and the right people ,these guys could have become legends!

  • You're welcome. Yes, for as long as I can remember, he sang. In fact, when we were about 12, he and I sang gospel with a community male chorus. When we got into Jr. High School (9th grade) we began looking for people to form singing groups. The groups began to do some performing in talent shows and the like when we were sophomores. The Modulations were called " The Pimps " and I sang with a 5 man acapella group called " The Exotics " with my twin brother. I believe Henry died in 2005

  • this is one of my biggest question how come beside soul train alot of groups weren't in front of a camera do you know if they got more footage of them somewhere--see there was alot of harmony groups that was on show with cameras, but what happen with the jerry blavet show--mike douglas show--see i know other groups perform on those shows and when you try to contact certain information they say that no longer in print

  • i haven't been able to find anything else on the modulations except what here on youtube. I've been out of the loop as far as soul, r&b harmony groups from North Carolina for quite awhile. I spent 25 years in the military and don't live in NC anymore. At any rate, thanks for dropping me a line. Take care.

  • makes you wonder right ? And I AM from that era.You also gotta remmeber Dinah Shore also! She was big on Black RB GROUPS back then and at least featured one everyweek on her show! The TEMPS ECT! Also Merv Griffin had a lot of acts on his show! He also gave Don Cornelious his stage for the night so Don could be allowed to the the Soultrain Awards.I think the FIRST award shows were on Merv Griffins Show.He would present the mike to Don AND KINDLY walk off the stage .Great Man!

  • (2nd reply) I attend the memorial service as did them remaining members of the Modulations along with my mother, two sisters and three brothers. Henry died of cancer.

You're right they could become legends. They all were good human beings as well as outstanding singers.
