That's cool, but it's not a bowline. Those who say it's a bowline are showing me they don't know their basic knots.

That is an angler's loop.

that knot is called an anglers loop. The difference between that, and a bowline is that the anglers loop can only be sliped over something. It can not be tied around something. but that was fast. can you flip a cleat hitch? Or tie an actual bowline in under three seconds?

I just timed myself in about 2.5 seconds. The technique is the same as in the following video. The video is a bit hard to follow though. Should have had the camera behind him.
