  • Hart Fisher is so awesome, damn Springer scumbag

  • dat enthusiastic black woman

  • we can do what ever we want! she cant stop a comic book from being published! i support the comic book all the way

  • hart owns obama there

  • All these black people fighting a comic...

It's officially fucked up if Jesse Jackson got in the mix.

    But he's not so eh

  • I don't even get the upstirr myself haha Am I psycho now?

  • SO MUCH IGNORANCE. Wow.

  • Wow, Hart is verbally tearing everyone apart in every interview i've seen thus far.

  • perhaps back then there was a lot less tolerance than there is now, but I think no matter what those comics are just comics at the end of the day. They talk about children being damaged & influenced by things like that and similar, but how many young girls pick up magazines with some pop star whore painted over the cover & try to imitate, disrespect themselves just because its in them I could use a million other examples. As for those offended, simply ignore it! Duh. Oh, and I <3 Jerry Springer!

  • The girls at 0:40 and 1:32 are so pretty... they look like they're right out of the 80s/90s. I miss the old days...

  • This world is so ignorant, they are all blind, and the same. You did nothing wrong at all. You're just illustrating a story, you didn't write it. It's based on facts.

  • its pathetic once again jerry springer staing we may find what hes writing is absolutley repugnanat...has jerry ever seen his show ,WHAT HYPOCRITS

  • honestley how can they talk about him doing a comic book, when they do glorify murders in other magazines feeding of the frenzy and fear of otheers ,also the family members of dahmers victims why arnt they screaming at ppl magazine or fox news for saying things over and over and pover again.

  • People have a right to write stories. It's done all the time. And reality and real events are always the source for ideas in stories, even fictional and fantastical ones. It's called art and imagination - FREE THOUGHT. If you rad People magazine and in doing so you imagine this or that about what you are reading, then you can write it down for someone who may be interested - and this is all about being human and THINKING.

  • black people are so thick in the head anyway i would totally spend $100 for one of them comics

  • ill buy them fuckin fags stop crying we have rights to read and learn about serial killer no matter wat they say free richard rameriez if u dont wanna read them to bad some one eles will

  • these fuckers just want money off it. by going on tv and doing alll this jizz their just publicizing the book its been i dont know how manny years since this but i wanna buy this book now

  • I don't see whats the big deal I mean it's just a comic book. If you don't like it then don't talk about it.

  • I don't see the wronging in publishing a comic about a serial killing....Seriously?

  • Hart is speaking some sense....if it's in mags...then why can't it be in a comic nor card nor movies? They're trying to get a point across...why should you ban them? Yeah...how many people have died for god and how many movies have there been made about that...I feel pysically ill about this subject...you know...I can't watch any more...

  • Hart Fisher has the right to publish anything he chooses as does everyone else. If you don't like it, then don't pick it up to read it.

  • "The right of these families to the pursuit of happiness"

you have that right. Don't read the fucking book, lady.

  • pfft ha ha here in america. One thing i learned is the country I am living in is much more free than america! I live in Holland. U can do everything here! The land of freedom, my ass!

  • What gets lost in all this is whether or not the graphic novel was any good, if the writing and artwork were up to par. More than likely, as with 95% of what's out there, it probably wasn't.

Graphic novels have a long way to go before being considered more than just kids' fare - and I'm guessing this book didn't help that cause any. If The Monster of Florence comic is any indication, then this was probably just the same: oversensationalized DC/Eisner knockoff with hamfisted writing.

  • Hamfisted writing? Nahhhh, it was pretty straight forward prose illustrated by a newspaper illustrator who disappeared when things hit the fan.

Is it a great comic? No, I don't think it's that great. Was it a DC/Eisner knock off? It would have been better if we'd had Eisner style art.

The book was good enough to be burned by the 2nd largest distributor in the biz, 1,500 copies destroyed and their paying customers stiffed...

More to this story than you think...

  • Eh, given what graphic novels were released during the early half of the 90's, which for the most part were pretty predictable story-wise and rushed art-wise, it's a hard sell to convince folks that one lone US graphic novel at that time - based on the exploits of a serial killer - was the stand out exception.

Keep in mind, that's based on the biography-turned-comics from that time, a'la The Dead Kennedys bio, or the Il Mostro issue cited earlier.

But hats off - good response.

  • Jerry should go back to this line of hosting. His show now is pathetic.

  • he looks like Jeffrey Dahmer the long hair boy it's why his fascinating by him

  • some crazy shit, lol

  • and like i said i can not even begin 2 magine how the families and friends of he vicims are feelng and ging through i cant even begin how it feels if a friendor a family member was a victim of such a vial act, however, i cant help but be open minded and see the other side

sorry if i have offended anyone with my comments but this is my opinion

    take care

    god bless

    'k'

  • i have written 2 some people on death row ( am not going 2 mention who they are) and we talk bout music and art and books, and ventually they tell me bout their lives and what they did..... i just believe different to everyone else...........i cant say i hate people like dahmer because i dont know them personally i only know what they have done and i feel like i cannot judge them based on what they did

  • this is my view and i am aware that probably alot ov people are going 2 disagree with me here..

ppl like dahmer aint evil or anything like that!........i do not agree with what they (being killers) do and i do not even want to think about anything happening 2 myfamiy i just couldnt imagine it!!! its damn right vial!! but ppl like dahmer are still human and people who call em evil ony back up THEIR view on how they feel the people in tho world are!

  • We are afraid of who we are and who we may become, we don't like the the truth. We are ignorant and selfish. we are blind sheep, if you read this and get mad then your might need to open your eyes too.

  • I thought the guest and audience of Jerry Springer was all interbreed rednecks. Guess I'm wrong.

However, while I find the publicans despicable, we do have freedom of speech and their should be no law preventing them from doing what their doing.

  • "it's cowardless"

    ha, smooth...

  • Why did people not come out and speak against the books, literature, novels and case studies that have been written on Dahmer? I mean the idea of a comic books seemed to let people believe that he was writing a satire on the very character of Jeffrey Dahmer. If he had written a novel about this, he wouldn't have been noticed. Somehow when it is visual people attack it more. I applaud his decision to highlight what a sicko this guy is, Dahmer that is, not Fisher.

  • They were seeking a smaller target to set a legal precedent before they went after the bigger book publishers and movie studios. Their case was VERY shaky and I kicked their asses in court. They chose the WRONG publisher to fuck with.

  • I don't believe in censorship. Yeah I agree with you. If someone doesn't like the comic, don't buy it. Freedom of speech to all. But my god. You type like a 13 year old. You could tried being a little bit tactful to the victims family instead of razing them on stage. It wasn't necessary to say "they're hurting themselves" because their loved ones were butchered and tortured, right?

  • Hhahahaha, like a 13 year old? Damn, that really hurt my XL ego...

Why try being tactful to people that are threatening me. What you don't see on tv is the threats against me that happened during the breaks, and this was our 3rd go around, they knew exactly what was coming. Don't take these folks off the hook they put themselves on. If you get in the ring, you better be ready to have your bell rung.

  • It's not your fault. I mean understand they were hurt because their loved ones were butchered, tortured & killed. You always said focus on logic & not emotion; you can prove your point calmly. Maybe I'm dense, I don't know. Maybe they assumed you were glamorizing Dahmer & defaming the victims? That's why they're mad? Back then society thought comics were kids, that's why your work controversial back then?

  • Oh! No no! :) I don't want to bash your ego or your feelings. I just feel that they should of talked to you instead of scold at you.

  • No problem.

Their church rep, Al, called me on the phone to ask me to stop, we had a long talk about how I emphasized with their position, but I wasn't going to stop publishing my book. This was followed by a stream of profanity from the priest. Nice. Then they came at me with the ambulance chasing lawyer and sued me for money. They wanted to ban the book and take any money from it's publication. They weren't innocents. The whole thing was sad.

  • Whoa! I guess you're right. Threatening you, a priest cussing at you, asking for money, protesting in front of a camera, etc. I don't agree with that. These people really don't seem very innocent to me anymore. Thank you for telling me your side of the story.

  • Yeh, I agree, if people don't want to read them then don't. There are books out there that are worse than these and kids can easily get their hands on them too. Censorship is just stupid, authors should be able to express themselves.

  • dude these people are wack! i sometimes wish i could be flat out ignorant. censorship is ignorance, the truth hurts when you have the mind span of a bag of dog shit. let's just censor the world, all people could get together and get rusty old spoons and one at a time pop out each other's eyes.... or better yet get pictures of the 700 club cast staple them to our eyelids.

  • That's exactly what those uber right wing christian fanatics want. You read Matt T's article about going undercover at a Christian sleep away camp? Fuck anything you've heard about Satanism, this just flat out scared me. It was in Rolling Stone a couple months back. Freaky shit.

  • That article got my stones curling up. I agree, way more of a threat than any Satanist... Wolves in sheeps clothing...

  • when you think about it, he's not the problem, it's the media who capitalizes on sensationalism. Graphic Novels are not intended to be funny and he has as much a right publish as anyone else. Granted, noone under 17 should be allowed to get their hands on them. But that's like saying anyone shouldn't get their hands on porn.

  • Censor every thing. censor the bible.

  • Banning books is abhoreent. However, Hart Fisher and his poorly concealed lip sores need to be dismissed. Bleh. His long, wavy blond hair is so fucking ill. He's a waste of good fat.

  • Poorly concealed lip sores? Try facial disfigurement from electrical burns suffered as a baby.

  • You make some very valid points here hart.Enjoyed watching you on sally aswell. Are your comics still available 2 buy?? P.s dnt take any notice of drowninvisible,i didnt notice any sores or burns on ur face.your nice eyes are 2 much of a distraction;)

  • Jerry has a point there in the first :10 seconds of the clip. There are many, many, and many books about killers, rapists, kidnappers, etc.

  • i think the people are just pissed off because if they caught they're kids reading your stuff they wouldn't know what to say to them, so they just choose to get it banned.

  • why the fuck do ppl seem to hate fredom of press when uts gone theyll be sry

  • I agree with you 100%

  • It's for adults, if you dont want to read it then dont.

  • It definitely showed that you prepared. Couldn't help but notice that as soon as those "good and decent folk" ran out of cliches to spew...they just started over again! You did yourself proud.

  • wow....i just stumbled upon you by accident. its good to see some intellect on a bullshit talk show finally. and look what jerry does now...ironically he probably makes more money showing (possibly staged) results of generations of inbreeding than he ever did writing speeches for political puppets. hats off to you, hart, scotland loves ya!

  • Thank you sir, I appreciate it. When we were preparing for these appearances my team and I treated these situations as verbal street fights and prepared as such for them.

  • quite right as well man, it's like a feeding frenzy on these kinds of shows though isn't it? i find it scary (yet all too familiar) that people blindly refuse to listen/understand another person's argument then constantly accuse that other person of being unreasonable. it looks like a witch hunt, and it is. humanity is hella strange.
