  • Murray Perahia definitely has a more "objective" approach to Schubert than Schiff.

  • @formerlyaskeptic1 I disagree with that, but I think its a good thing that Perahia is more 'subjective', if that's the word, than Schiff. Look at the way for example he brings out the conversational element of the contrasting 'B' sections - something that one now notices is missing in Scgiff and Brendel for ecample.

  • Like Schubert himself: Brilliant!

  • Who cares who is who? The music is simply divine! I can´t even imagine a human playing it.

  • i dont know who plays this, but Brendel plays Schubert excellent. really.

  • Upon second listening of this piece I've completely changed my mind. Take two: this performance is actually a bit ungentle and emotionally a bit uninvolved. At times he slurs certain notes with the pedal so important moments of clarity are lost.

  • Murray Perahia seems to have a sense of poise or balance (I guess a sense of elegance) and maintains clean lines but, for me at least, stays on the side of understatement (conservative with his dynamics). There is something hypnotic about his preference for softness/subtlety though, rather than high contrast. I just wish oftentimes he'd give more umpff at critical moments maybe that's just me

  • Yes indeed, it's Murray Perahia ;-)

  • Brendel yhea

  • It's not Brendel either ;-)

  • 0.27----0.31 definitively not horowitz .
