I just got this car, and I love it. Its got pep, it's smooth, the steering and brakes are sensitive, and it gets good gas mileage. Couldn't ask for more for my very first car. I love the iPod capability too.
Now I know the trunk doesnt "spring open" my uncle has one and ive noticed it just pops up, but that dumb broad in the video isnt even pushing the trunk button on the key fob! keep pressin that door unlock button and hope for that trunk to open lol

I bought a 2011 Ford Focus SEL Sedan, test drove it at 130 km, no problems. Great on gas, looks nice, gotta love the sync as it makes everything handsfree. I also test drove a 2011 Ford Fiesta, man is it ever tiny & I didn't feel safe in it at all. The salesman was telling me he hasnt sold even one yet!! My focus is black with the chrome package & it looks really nice. A lot cheaper than Civic, Cruze & Fiesta. I got a great deal as I had bought a 2010 Ford F150 from the same dealer 7 months ago.
I bought a pre-owned 2009 SE almost a month ago and I love it! The gas mileage is probably the best thing about this car. I really feel the difference from my previous vehicle, a Mazda Tribute. The Focus handles REALLY nicely, although it is quite noisy but nothing a little music can't cover up. It really does have a good acceleration and the trunk space is quite large. I am very pleased with my purchased.
I have almost 200k on my 92 Ford Ranger, I had tranmission problems start around 170k, my water pump ended up going out, the whole truck when to shit, transmission kept slipping and it's a automatic. Then I replaced the water pump and it ran like fucking new, not a single problem. I expect to get another 100k at the least out of it..
I own a 2010 SES, and love it! , better than any other auto maker in the same class, I have a 22 foot ladder in it (the kind that folds up), and the other brands could not fit it. I drive 6,000 miles a month and the gas mileage is great! I know the new own is coming out soon, but being a owner of the current one, I think it does not get enough good marks and gets over looked since this will be the last year for it. I love SYNC, I have a 140 gig portable hard drive connected to the USB.
@geek77rus saying how something looks is a subjective arguement. Facts are facts, and Ford is more dependable than the other brands, and it offers things that no one else does......period. Those are tyhe facts, no matter how you "feel" about it.
@hdsred what are the things that Ford has that other brands don´t? I cannot think of anything. Here in Europe Ford is known for consuming oil in Diesel engines, and for being far from competitive in economy (mileage) numbers. Even so, I think that previous Focus is cool. But this one is simply weird.
If you want something special for this money - get a used BMW.
I keep seeing people from other countries complain about the car... this isn;t exact and American dream car... I think its great for the price, though I always prefer at lear 2 more liters in an engine, preferably 3 more. It's a good buy.
I've owned my 09 for 10k miles so far, and I've driven it through literally everything; snowstorms, windstorms, heavy rain and bright sunny days. Its a solid car, and the styling grows on you. Besides, I got such a good deal for it brand new that I really could care less. But I actually enjoy driving it and making the tires squeal, even if it is labeled as 'slow' and 'econobox' the thing has some character. It's own personality really.
@uncoverbrother Ok but not ever one likes the look of the Fiesta. which is why the have this look for the Focus, the Taurus, and Fusion. Ford for the North American market is thinking about what we like. In Europe well they make cars in a different look for them. Two different markets were people like different looks.

well that's why its your (personal) opinion but if you drive and see the euro focus in the flesh you will change your mind. There's a lot the american market doesn't tell you and its that mostt economic american vehicles have to be produced on such a high scale that quality is compromised and to avoid overcrowding the vehicles are made to last a certain amount of years per user.......european cars are built to last.......at least 10 years or more. Euro quality is just better, hands down
the euro focus is way better i think its retarded ford thought nobody would want the rs. after they discontinued the svt we never got a high performance version. the svt was the closest the thing to the rs for North America . we wont get a rs until after 2011 that's just lame.

Their parts are made badly in Mexico unlike other car brand parts. Not to mention, I have family who works at the Toyota plant as managers and workers who actually put the vehivles together in Georgetown, KY and they refuse to buy a Toyota or Lexus because of how they are built and their safety.
@EpiDemic117 Well for one example Toyota Tacomas are made in Tijuana, Mexico. I can give you more if you'd like. And actually two of them own Ford's, one drives a Cadillac and one owns a Lincoln. These cars are just as expensive as Toyota's. Not to mention if Toyota's are such great vehicles then why have there been close to 20 million recalls? No other car brand has nearly been recalled that much. Not to mention Ford has passed Toyota in reliability. So, your point is?

I have an '09 Focus SES for a service loaner right now and it's terrible. The interior is appallingly cheap, it's slow, it's loud, and the 4-speed auto absolutely sucks. As for the "sporty" steering and suspension...what a joke. My Volkswagen Rabbit would kick this thing's ass all over the place. Do yourself a favor, whoever is considering a Focus, and don't buy one.
I got a chance to drive a 2009 Focus with 3,000 miles on it 8 months ago and was VERY IMPRESSED with how well the car handles. I had just driven a Corolla (nice car too!), and this is no BS: the Ford Focus HANDLES better. Period. I'd buy the Ford over the Toyota after knowing how each drives. My only gripe with the Focus is that it needs to be a better looking car, but that still wouldn't stop me from getting one. Oh, and the car has PLENTY of adequate power....the naysayers are full of it.
It's a newest car I've ever driven, but it sucks! It doesn't have any torque at all. My saturn drives nice and is wider and more stable on the road. I paid 4000 for saturn ... I bet this ford is 3 times more expensive ... oh .. and the steering wheel doesn't go down far enough and the head rests are not really rests 'cause they push your head forward
Why is this car still been made, I think it's about 10 years old the basic platform, even here in Mexico we have the European platform and it is much better than the US version, funnily enough I think the US focus, is made in Mexico. And the Mexican focus is made in Spain.
I'd rather have the Kia Forte. Sexier sedan. Sportier coupe. Better mileage with more HP from its 2.0L and an optional 2.4L. The Focus seems rather dated and bland in comparison.

For the same price range you can afford a rare double wishbone suspension that is in the rear of the Honda Civic. If you are not a gear head, you won't mind missing the double wishbone but I suggest you test the handling on cars with double wishbone set ups.
The Focus SEL has voice activated Sync sounds excellent to me. Just say the name of the artist when you have thousands on your Ipod and it plays? Seriously? Or voice activated Bluetooth. Mine has heated leather seats, ambient lighting with 8 colors, 6 disc with sub in the back (thats SOME of the features)... around 38 mpg avg. Hmmm, yeah its not the best looking car, but where do you spend most of your time?
the thing about the focus,civic,corolla is that the focus looks more manly the civic looks more flashy and the corolla looks more simple but id rather drive the civic or corolla cause of reliability

I just bought a '10 Focus Coupe SE that's loaded... I never thought I would buy an American made "car" - truck, yes. So far so good - I really do like this car a lot! The ride is very nice for a car this size, it takes the bumps and pot holes like a much more expensive car. The engine is a bit noisy when you rev it - but it's quite other wise. I'm a huge Toyota fan - but I gotta give Ford props on this one! It looks like the American Auto makers are FINALLY catching up!!

Im not going to lie...I wasnt very impressed when I first got my 2010 Focus....but I was dead wrong. This car is amazing!!! The car is so much fun to drive and if you were like me watching this video wondering if you would like it, you will.

@gardnerbm I havnt seen any one lease a car in years - you can buy one for around that much a month or less if you get longer payments... as for the transaxle - you can get manual or automatic transaxle in any trim focus as of 2009 so im sure its true this year too.

well that's why its your (personal) opinion but if you drive and see the euro focus in the flesh you will change your mind. There's a lot the american market doesn't tell you and its that mostt economic american vehicles have to be produced on such a high scale that quality is compromised and to avoid overcrowding the vehicles are made to last a certain amount of years per user.......european cars are built to last.......at least 10 years or more. Euro quality is just better, hands down

the euro focus is way better i think its retarded ford thought nobody would want the rs. after they discontinued the svt we never got a high performance version. the svt was the closest the thing to the rs for North America . we wont get a rs until after 2011 that's just lame.

@Lexlus42 Honey, Toyota and Lexus are about as bad as you can get. They have had almost 20 million vehicles recalled within the past year. Their parts are made badly in Mexico unlike other car brand parts. Not to mention, I have family who works at the Toyota plant as managers and workers who actually put the vehivles together in Georgetown, KY and they refuse to buy a Toyota or Lexus because of how they are built and their safety.

@EpiDemic117 Well for one example Toyota Tacomas are made in Tijuana, Mexico. I can give you more if you'd like. And actually two of them own Ford's, one drives a Cadillac and one owns a Lincoln. These cars are just as expensive as Toyota's. Not to mention if Toyota's are such great vehicles then why have there been close to 20 million recalls? No other car brand has nearly been recalled that much. Not to mention Ford has passed Toyota in reliability. So, your point is?

I have an '09 Focus SES for a service loaner right now and it's terrible. The interior is appallingly cheap, it's slow, it's loud, and the 4-speed auto absolutely sucks. As for the "sporty" steering and suspension...what a joke. My Volkswagen Rabbit would kick this thing's ass all over the place. Do yourself a favor, whoever is considering a Focus, and don't buy one.

I got a chance to drive a 2009 Focus with 3,000 miles on it 8 months ago and was VERY IMPRESSED with how well the car handles. I had just driven a Corolla (nice car too!), and this is no BS: the Ford Focus HANDLES better. Period. I'd buy the Ford over the Toyota after knowing how each drives. My only gripe with the Focus is that it needs to be a better looking car, but that still wouldn't stop me from getting one. Oh, and the car has PLENTY of adequate power....the naysayers are full of it.

It's a newest car I've ever driven, but it sucks! It doesn't have any torque at all. My saturn drives nice and is wider and more stable on the road. I paid 4000 for saturn ... I bet this ford is 3 times more expensive ... oh .. and the steering wheel doesn't go down far enough and the head rests are not really rests 'cause they push your head forward

Why is this car still been made, I think it's about 10 years old the basic platform, even here in Mexico we have the European platform and it is much better than the US version, funnily enough I think the US focus, is made in Mexico. And the Mexican focus is made in Spain.

I'd rather have the Kia Forte. Sexier sedan. Sportier coupe. Better mileage with more HP from its 2.0L and an optional 2.4L. The Focus seems rather dated and bland in comparison.

For the same price range you can afford a rare double wishbone suspension that is in the rear of the Honda Civic. If you are not a gear head, you won't mind missing the double wishbone but I suggest you test the handling on cars with double wishbone set ups.

The Focus SEL has voice activated Sync sounds excellent to me. Just say the name of the artist when you have thousands on your Ipod and it plays? Seriously? Or voice activated Bluetooth. Mine has heated leather seats, ambient lighting with 8 colors, 6 disc with sub in the back (thats SOME of the features)... around 38 mpg avg. Hmmm, yeah its not the best looking car, but where do you spend most of your time?

I just bought a '10 Focus Coupe SE that's loaded... I never thought I would buy an American made "car" - truck, yes. So far so good - I really do like this car a lot! The ride is very nice for a car this size, it takes the bumps and pot holes like a much more expensive car. The engine is a bit noisy when you rev it - but it's quite other wise. I'm a huge Toyota fan - but I gotta give Ford props on this one! It looks like the American Auto makers are FINALLY catching up!!

Can anyone tell me why you'd want to buy any Ford cars, knowing that Ford is in the hole for $4 billion in their enormous pension fund? Guess where they will get the money from? That's right! We, as customers or taxpayers, will have to pay part of their 4 big ones, that will eventually to towards feeding Ford's fat retirees, who probably retired from making all those very nice Pintos and Escorts.
