  • Liza Minnelli and Ronnie Spector did background vocals for this one.

  • @IsabellaGothly Thank you very much for yr response, too late but from my heart.....many kisses.

  • That's kind of ironic considering that's when they were the most famous.

  • Is that true Liza Minelli take a part on this song ??? what am I gonna do ??? gonna do...gonna do..... ??? I really do not know....

  • @MarKemps

Yes, as well as the Pointer Sisters, and Ronnie Spector.

  • I'd never seen this. Thanks for posting it.

  • The second line "these gold lame jeans". Is he referring to those terrible shiny pants from then? Could someone explain this to me, perhaps it is a language problem. Danke.

  • I wish he'd go back to making stuff like this... 70'S Alice is easily my favorite! :)

  • Wow, I was 22 years old when this came out.

  • I'm into the '50s Rockn'Roll but I really like this one... ;O)

  • Wanting to drop the theatrics? That would be like asking Steve Jobs to drop the i prefix on everything: i.e. brand identity.

  • alice always has some excellent backing vocals.

  • This has go to be the last video with the original band (all 5 of them) I was surprised when I read that Bob Greene book at the time "Billion Dollar Babies" & how some of the members were jealous of Alice's attention, but I could understand their point of view too, they all paid their dues to get where they were, & now Alice is the only one in the band getting attention, saw them at Maple Leaf Gardens on that last tour with the priginal band.

  • they should have had times when alice left the stage and the other members could do individual solos kind of like kiss did.

  • This was not good at all. Last stuff from the original group. mike bruce could not stand the direction the music was taking and that bothered him more than anything else.

  • That's Liza Minelli singing at the end.

When I listened to this when I was a teenager I thought times sucked. How'd I know they'd suck more now?

  • Nope. Pointer Sisters. they were in adjacent studio during recording. Bob Ezrin's idea to have em join in.

  • Liza is on the song at the end. Along with Ronnie Spector and the Pointer Sisters. I had the album on vinyl as a teenager.

  • Isnt liza on the greatest hits cover sketch?

  • I've never really seen the album cover for the Greatest Hits. I'm an Alice Cooper purist. I wasn't into the him once the original band split. I only saw him once for the "Welcome to My Nightmare" tour. It just didn't seem right without the rest of the original line-up.

  • one of the cons in this vid has the paper Bogie mask, I think its same face as album cover. Various '30s-40s celeb cameo's on it as I recall.

I'll have too look for it now.

  • @t00LuBe Really? wow, really sux that Liza Minelli is credited with background vocals on the album insert then. Ronnie Spector & Pointer Sisters are listed as well. Alice said it was her in his book Golf Monster, but I guess you know better.

  • Yeah, me too. Hearing this again 35 years later it is surprisingly fresh and uncluttered.

  • Some True fans out there... Who bought the orig. Billion Dollar Babies album in '73' and what color (or picture) was on the record lable?

  • I bought the 8 track in '73, so I can't answer...but now you have my curiosity! What was on the label?

  • This is probably the last video that the original A.C. group did, by Muscle Of Love & that Bob Greene Book "Billion Dollar Babies" they were getting pissed of (Except for Dennis & Glen) that the lead singer, Alice, was getting all the attention & press.

  • Yeah, I talk and talk and forget the essential by the way : Teenage Lament '74 really is an excellent song. Cute video, too. Oh and my short last comment was for you, LuneyTune 72, while the longer one was for standall67.

  • Iv been in to Alice over 35 years and never seen this video before, thanks,

  • I'm 43 and still sing this song everyday! This is my "Smell Like a Teen Spirit" :)

Thanks Alice for all these years of great music and great shows! Keep on shockin', Coop!!

  • alice coopers greatest is one of the most awesome best ofs ever

  • Thanks for the vid dude. This is cool! Muscle of love. My favorite albums are of course Love it and killers. Those are such underrated great albums. Billion Dollar Babies is a total creep show. I have all originals on vinyl. When Alice went solo i started to lose a little interest but he still pulled it off.

  • Funny vid. What's it got to do with the song, though?

  • What do most music videos have to do with the song??? Check out the music video for "I Believe In A Thing Called Love."

  • Thanks for posting this video. - : )

  • Coop fan of over 35 yrs, this is a real gem, thanks...

  • This song definitely isn't his darker or heavier shit..

Most 70's videos American made always look low budget even ones made in the 90's look low budget. You at a 60s video of Hendrix or early 70s elton john or black sabbath european made and production seems clearer all the time...Whats with that?

  • It depends if you are talking about black and white videos or not. The reason this is lacking quality is because color was still new and also it was most likely recorded on old TV with some shitty VHS recorder. On top of that this video wasn't that famous so it wasn't remastered like the Sabbath or Hendrix videos. It's luckily this footage even exists. Also yes Muscle of Love was a reason the band broke up cus it drew away from Alice's image and the band's identity. The break up had other reason

  • Like 'nvmbrsdoom5' said below, huge thumbs up to you for posting this, you just made my week. I've only seen a still pic. from this vid. before, never the vid. itself. It's pretty choppy here and the song was edited but still a pretty cool vid.

  • Well that's 70s TV quality for you. The original quality of this (the TV version) couldn't have been much better, also YouTube destroys the quality of old footage (my copy looks better).

  • my bad..had read of the numbers years ago in a bio of the band. Thanx !

  • IF you are ever able to FIND the vinyl of "Prettys for you" or "Easy Action" snatch those puppies up !! they are the

original first 2 albums from "the Alice Cooper group" Only 9,000 each of the originals was pressed and are in excistance..(8,998 now, as i have both I bought at K-mart when iwas 14 ! haha)

  • I don't know where you got that number but there are more. There are multiple pressings. If you want the one that really matters/the most expensive one, then you have to get the Straight label copy (yellow and purple logo on record that says "Straight." It was Frank Zappa's record label company to which he signed the band before anyone else.

  • on e-bay for about 40.00

  • someone probably mentioned, but a little known fact is Lisa Menelli (if that's spelled right) is singing backing vocals for this track.

  • OMG. I've never seen this, didn't even realise it existed. Huge thumbs up to you for posting this, you just made my week.

The original Alice Cooper band are/were just fantastic. "Teenage Lament '74" was a huge song for me when I was a teen.

I have a feeling I'm gonna watch this clip like ten more times in a row, lol.

  • This is so cool ! where did you get this? i know the song from Muscle but this is a special video.

  • You can get it in trading circles, mine was from my friend billiondollarbabies73 (YouTube account).

  • cool man, just simply,,,,,,,,CooL !

  • This is awesome. Never seen this before. I wish there were a bunch more from the Muscle of love era. I like that album, but it was so underrated.

  • Ok I know you're entitled to your own opinion but in no way did you say why you disliked the video. The video showcases the bands humor, it wasn't meant to be a well thought out video with genius editing skills and an artistic view of the song. The song was actually one of Alice's greatest hits so ya it did deserve to be on that LP. Also the band breakup had absolutely nothing to do with the money. The only reasons for the breakup were: Mike's solo album, the band wanted to drop theatrics...

  • not seen this in over 30 years, thanks for posting,

  • thanx 4 the post fn awesome

  • I've read that the reason for the breakup was that the rest of the band wanted to concentrate on the musical side and Alice wanted the theatrics...

  • Actually it was multiple reasons. Solo albums which lead to the band actually firing Alice, the band never said they broke up they just never formed to do another album, the band didn't like spending immense amounts of money on theatrics but Alice knew that without theatrics the fans would be disappointed so they went separate ways. It was really just a long vacation that led to separation.

  • The reason that the band broke up was that Glenn Buxton was so far gone that he couldn't play anymore.

  • Actually it wasn't one reason as the band each said. The band claims many reasons one reason was Glen's health, another were the solo albums, another was that the band thought Alice had the spotlight, and disagreements of whether or not to keep the theatrics. Glen's health was just one factor. Sadly the closest we'll get to seeing the full band together is at a rare, maybe once a year reunion.

  • Agreed, the reasons were many, but the original "break" that preceeded the "break up" was in order for Glenn to get back on his feet, then the reunion of the founding members never happened. Excellent video, by the way, haven't seen this one since the 70's.

  • Thanks, btw let's call a peace about our debate. Obviously you have good taste and I respect that. I don't think this vid aired too often so you're lucky to have seen it.

  • Truce. There were great independant cable programs in Canada in the 70's and 80's that shared a lot of material, so I was lucky enough to see live performances and promo material that mainstay television didn't air.

  • An Alice Cooper reunion would be awesome with Slash taking Glenns place. They would still have that heavy garage sound that the early AC albums had.Just a thought.

  • AAARRGH !! Slash taking Glen Buxton's place ? NOOO !!!!! Jeff Beck would be awesome and Alice would love it, Jack White maybe, there are guitarists out there that would be cool to see in the band, but Slash ?? Please, not that kind of 80's Heavy Metal guiitar player !!! Why not Kane Roberts to make it even more nightmarish and awful ??

  • Slash is rock and roll not metal. The sound of GNR may have been slightly metal but Slash is a rock and roll guitarist. Also Alice has worked himself into being part metal. Kane Roberts was an awesome member too. Jack White is in no way Alice's style, or Jeff Beck. Glen was a metal guitar player, he inspired Steve Vai and Randy Rhoads. Anyways Slash fits with Alice in my opinion cus they have the same taste in music and attitude about rock and roll.

  • Scuzi, I just replied privatly to your email; I should have had posted it here. Another choice idea ; why not a guitar player from the Special Forces era, real sharp and non-metallic for a change ?

  • Alice wasn't even in the right state of mind during that mid-80s time period. Alice set the stages for metal why would he drop that?

  • I wish he had stayed with that "state of mind"....

  • By the way, did you get the message I sent you privately ?

  • Jeff Beck???? No way!!!! Slash? Hell yeah!!!! I would even love to see Kane Roberts come back.

  • Ok guys, obviously we do not like the same Alice at all, the ones I like being studio records from the ACG and the 80-83 records. Wit the the exception of "Dirty Diamonds", which I love, I can't stand what he's been doing since. Different Alices for different people I guess.

  • I like every year of Alice. No I didn't get it.

  • I think you were one of the few people who liked the 80 to 83 records. I did like Clones though.

  • One of my favorite songs from that early 80s era is "Zorros Accent" the riff in that song is awesome and the solo.

  • I'm sorry, but I'm really glad we happen now to agree on something at last - LOL Cheers

  • Really? I also love that song. It's so underrated. I could listen to that one all day. I love how the riff, the lyrics, and everything else fit so perfect and make you feel like you're there.

  • Oh no I'm not . Whenever I make a "blindtest listening experience" to people (I love doing that, not only when it comes to Alice) they enjoy this stuff, and are happily surprised when they discover who it is. It just happened not to have had the exposure it deserved. Something I always take the opportunity to do with those records when curious people come my way. Especially works well with people who don't like Heavy Metal and the post WB Alice. That game is so funny for me.

  • Those records although not great, did have some interesting moments. I love America, I Am The Future, Grim Facts.

  • i never knew this existed! thanks man, for the awesomeness!

  • Brilliant, never seen this shown in the UK ever, what a shame it wasn't used.

  • Wow!Thanks!

I love this song and I've never seen this video!

  • Great! never seen this before. Does anybody know where this was filmed? Looks like NYC.

  • Never seen that before! Excellent! And this was in '74? Looonnnng before video killed the radio star! Creative genius!

  • Actually, the song was released in November 1973 (on the album "Muscle Of Love")
