Argh.. Religions just make me feel humans have no hope. Thank goodness for shows like these, we have to end these embarrassing superstitions before they end us.
@BillHicks420 Nope. After 18 days they have a heartbeat AND they can feel pain. Calling a baby in the early stages of life a fetus is dehumanizing and is accepted by medical authorities everywhere as a valid excuse. It's NOT!!!
@PeanutButterGtr Factually wrong. Fetuses can not feel pain after 18 days. And why is it not? Because YOU say so? Fortunately, science disagree with you, because it refuses to be childishly (no pun intended) mislead by appeal to emotion. Whether you think it is dehumanizing or not is irrelevant. A fetus is not a person, and should not have rights as such. Logic and science will prevail over religious inspired hogwash.
@BillHicks420 Actually Hicks, It's scientifically proven by the same emotionless doctors and scholars you side with that a BABY has feeling, a heartbeat and brain activity on 3 weeks after conception. How dare you sit on your hypocritical, emotionless, high horse and say and fetus is not a person and doesn't deserve rights. You tell that to any cop who has arrested and heartless scum bag (backed by the law) for stomping a mother in the stomach during pregnancy and killing the baby.
@PeanutButterGtr Fetuses do not have cognition, emotions, conscience, and self-awareness. Therefore, the rights of the mother should supersede that of the fetus. Abortions will happen with or without legalizing it, however when making it illegal the woman and child suffer more, it is less clean less unsafe etc. Legalizing it, therefore, is the only rational thing to do.
@BillHicks420 Your way of thinking is cold, robotic and unamerican even without the SLIGHTEST appeal to religion, let alone Christianity. You are the reason America is failing as a country right now. You and the others using 'science' to back up killing an unborn child as birth control disgust to no end. Don't you ever say dehumanizing is irrelevant you stuff shirt, thick-headed, bigot. Go join al-queda. This argument is over. Don't even speak to me anymore. I won't grace you with an answer...
@PeanutButterGtr Who are you to say what is, and what is not American? IN fact, my way of thinking have been affirmed by many yeas of supreme court ruling. Please do elaborate on how help America "failing". Quite contrary, when abortion is stigmatized and illegal, crime in turn increase.... Aaaaand back to blind name calling and appeal to emotion again. It's very true what Ray pointed out. It is fact that we all do operate under presuppositions. If this were not true, there would be nothing to debate.
wow. that was a worthless "discussion" as much as i love the atheist experience i had a hard time watching this. ray comfort was, as expected, ignorant, hypocritical, and downright retarded.
@RubixWizz199109 DUDE he believes the Earth is 6000 y/o, and he doesn't believe in Evolution...........I totally respect your FAITH in God... but don't try to prove it scientifically because you will fail EVERY TIME....beside why do you people need scientific proof if you have FAITH?
HAHAHAHAHA, i am a third-year MD candidate with a pet interest in linguistics (i speak 5 languages), and i just ROFLed at the life=soul bit. i'm glad he gives us respect as doctors, and i would treat him with the same respect i would give any other patient, but it's sad how little credence he gives my hard work and training.
You know, I think I actually like Ray Comfort. I mean, obviously he's full of shit, he's kinda dishonest, but I don't know that he realizes it. Above all he's fucking hilarious.
@JuryDutySummons oh that could be... in the other vids I heard someone sparking a lighter and just assumed it was someone chain-smoking, but yeah now that I think about it...
I am an agnostic-atheist and, if there's anything I agree with Ray on, it's the disagreement with abortion, of course I understand people wanting to give women the choice to be or not be pregnant and I'm not trying to force abstinence or anything like that, I just dont like the whole baby/fetus slaughtering thing. Still, to the religiously pro-life, i say at least I dont venerate a "holy" book that schizophrenically condones and contradicts my beliefs on this issue at the same time. Ps. 137:9.
@RandomBS88 No, but what you are saying that an unfinished mind, a pre-born baby who is not aware of the universe, life, death, nor act or consequence should have the right to dictate over a woman's right to choose for herself if she would want to go through with a pregnancy. That is to more detestable than to abort this fetus. The hardship and responsibility that comes with a pregnancy and having a child far outweighs the loss of a life that wasn't ever truly living.
@SixtySeventh what about this whole thing about the fetus having a heart-beat at like 6 to 9 weeks or whatever it is. Also, i dont think babies are as conscious as we are even after they come out of the womb, but we wouldnt slay them. Furthermore, its not that I dont understand the whole situation of a woman wanting or not wanting to be pregnant, this predeveloped human life could be someone that ends up proving useful to humanity, why not terminate the pregnancy WITHOUT killing the fetus?
@SixtySeventh still, i can get some of the jist of what you're saying. I mean, this economy is an asshole and, if God exists, he's a cocksucker for punishing women with labor pains during child-birth for something eve did. Idk, i could still be psychologically effected by pics of bloody fetuses and i would understand it if a health reason was involved. Then again, hell, its said abortion places are getting federal fundings, maybe put the money to help raise the unplanned kids or whatever, idk
@RandomBS88 A question that you have to ask yourself though is: Who gains anything from illegalizing abortion? Whom does this it serve? Whom does it help?
I mean are you really saying that you are ready to force women to go through with pregnancies? To me, at least; the fetuses right to live does not outweigh the rights of the living. We can't control the future. But what we should be able to control is when we choose to breed the next fucking generation.
@SixtySeventh Well, it helps the unborn for one. Also, there are claims from the pro-life people that those in the abortion industry aren't exactly model citizens; allegations of child-sex cover-up, racism, unfriendliness towards those who change their minds, women who go thru with it get vaginal area damaged or die; thats just a few things i have heard, not 100% sure they're true, but not sure Planned Parenthood and all them would admit it if it was. My suggestion will be in my next comment.
@SixtySeventh If it were up to me, I'd illegalize to some extent, but allow it for up to the first 4 to 5 weeks if the woman is not ready for the child, and if the fetus cant possibly be kept alive, give it a more proper burial, dont just throw it in the trash. Or, there might not be any harm in using it for research. For really extreme health reasons where nothing can be done except to abort, that'd be fair game. And developing a better birth control would help too.
@RandomBS88 I'm afraid that's unrealistic expectation since most women don't realize that they are pregnant before the 8th or 10th week or so. Why can't we just keep the abortion laws as they are now? What's wrong with them?
@SixtySeventh What about how the fetus at like 6 weeks or later resembles a human and has a heart-beat by then, by week 8 or 10. If i remember right, my sister who was pregnant checked for the baby's heart-rate in July or August, the baby came out earlier this month, March. What, can we not come up with a better technology to detect pregnancy much sooner? Is religion still halting the advances of science? Ok, if u must abort, do as soon as u know, if thats what u really want, but...
@SixtySeventh ...dont toss it in the trash, give it a proper burial or use it in research. I mean, yeah im fairly pro-life, but, common, i dont wanna force abstinence on people who are in love. On the other hand, they ought to see it as a positive experience, not a hindrance, i mean, shit, the results of love-making created such a beautiful creature. Hell, if they be mature enough for sex, then caring for a baby should be no problem. Overall, i blame this economy for making shit complicated.
@RandomBS88 If everyone viewed life like that, do you have any idea how fast the western world would over populate? And if that is they way you view sex, well then you're not living in 2011, you're living in 12th century. Let people fuck if they want to. And if they want to abort, let them. Why do you care?
I mean, for, these are the kinds of things the Government should not have the right to interfiere with. The bond between a fetus and a mother is too personal.
@RandomBS88 And again: A baby should come out of love, not some fucking obligation. A baby is a life, not a consequense of immaturure behaviour when it comes to sex. I can't even begin to comprehend how fucked up Pro-Lifers view on life is. It's like, the baby has to live. "Then, how it turns out, I don't give a shit about."
Do you honestly think, a world where abortion was illegal would work considering how much longer humans live now adays thanks to medicine? If you do, you're an idiot. Sorry.
@SixtySeventh Okay, b4 i address what i was talking about, im not sayin i dont give a shit bout how they turn out, and, yes, a baby is a life, not a consequence, im not tryin or meaning to deny that. Hell, if it were me and i knocked a woman up, i'd damn well care for the child and my woman. Besides, would not more people mean more help making the world a better place. ANyways, going back to what i was going to say, soem pro-life christians assert that their god does not punish people...
@SixtySeventh ...for the sins of their fathers. BULL-FUCKING-SHIT! If the biblical god dont punish people for the sins of their fathers, which IS wrong, then why do we live in a "fallen creation"? There's also that thing about visiting iniquity on 3rd and 4th generations or whatever. Heck, if people are gonna be religious and pro-life, then find another god aside from the god of the bible, cuz he aint quite prolife himself; floods, raining fire and brimstone, ethnic-cleansing genocides, etc.
@SixtySeventh If i have not yet said it, i will give u this one, the issue is NOT as simple as people make it seem. so thank u for pointing out that shit's more complicated than pro-lifers see or claim it to be. But damn it all, cant science get off their asses and make another planet inhabitable already?
@RandomBS88 Haha, yeah, maybe sometime in the future. Don't worry, I have nothing against people who don't want to have an abortion. I tactually think that's great. What is important though, is that people understand that this is a moral grey-zone. It's not a matter of right or wrong. It's a matter of life - it's complicated as hell.
@SixtySeventh You too, thanks for showing hospitality. Still, maybe im still gonna be psychologically effected by pics of aborted fetuses cuz they just look too gruesome and sad, idk. I do know if i knocked a woman up, id be happy to be a dad, just hope she be happy to be a mom, and id work hard to give the kid a good life. Personally, if God exists and the bible is real, god damn God for letting the fall happen, and god damn Adam and Eve for being so stupid. All-loving God, (pfft) my ass.
@SixtySeventh I will agree that this issue of abortion is not completely as simple as pro-life groups make it seem. I mean, what if the woman cant care for the child and she cant find anyone she trusts to adopt it? Then there's rape, okay, yeah punish the rapist, but still, what if the scenario i mentioned in the previosu question. Side-note, there is an assertion that bible-advocating pro-life groups make that they are wrong about. SIgh, gonna need yet another comment.
Everything Comfort says is based upon 'The Bible says blar blar blar / Jesus says blar blar blar / God says blar blar blar.' That's it. End of argument! A classic case of a circular argument!
5:55 , man I wish Matt would have allowed Ray to demonstrate the additional assertion Ray has made about death... :) that would have been interesting...
@MrEmeraldfusion I determine right and wrong with my sense of morals, when asked where these morals come from I usually say I don't care, but when pressed further I then explain that it's a mixture of game theory and evolution, thanks for asking.
@MrEmeraldfusion I said I have morals and told you where they come from you're asking if killing is okay seems to ignore the fact that I just said I have a sense of morals
@electorg -"...pressed further I then explain that it's a mixture of game theory and evolution, thanks for asking."[Okay so do you believe murder is fine in your book than sense your an animal?] What is the answer?
Okay so do you believe murder is fine in your book than sense your an animal?
First; we're all animals - look up the definition.
Second; the question isn't specific enough. As you well know - murder is sometimes perfectly acceptable; sometimes it isn't. It all depends on context.
Contrary to what you imagine - there is no objective morality you can appeal to. At all times humans just do their best; its why what is "good" changes over time.
@MrEmeraldfusion The bible says "God will always stay the same never change" Meaning old testament counts meaning Leviticus 20:13 "If a man sleeps with a man like one would sleep with a woman then he shall be put to death" That means this must be obeyed But again "Thou shall not kill" Must be obeyed Meaning no True Christians exist.
Biggest win - was that analogy between evolving language and biological evolution. No - you can not point to the "transitional language source" any more than you can point to the transitional biological source between two species. Yet we know for a fact that Italian and Spanish both evolved from Latin.
I love that looking at a woman on a Billboard is so heinous a crime in God's eyes that you could be punished with 800 billion years times infinity in hell for it, yet all you have to do is say "I'm sorry" to get your sentence commuted to eternity in paradise. What a system!
@MoveOrder Lust is in no way wrong under the proper conditions.
The conditions being a monogamously pure marriage. When these conditions are met, lust can play a role in a small child. Lust outside of that though is like adultery to God. This is due to God's holiness.
The very second preaching religion ceases to be a viable way to make money, clowns like Ray Comfort will shed their "belief" and move on to the next thing they can make money off of with bullshit and without having to provide a tangible product.

@MrEmeraldfusion

@yuo252- Never change meaning he will always be GOD...Not that nothing he ever said would be amended of modified in due time. Sorry.

How can Ray say that that is wrong with lust?.
I'm not talking about adultery or rape.
Lust is the basic operation of why we all are here.
MoveOrder 11 months ago 21
@MoveOrder He can say that because he's a moron and dishonest. There is nothing more to it. Really, nothing.

@MoveOrder People always argue about acting on lust, not lust itself.
chiffmonkey 11 months ago
@chiffmonkey Acting on lust is how you got here. And yes the bible does say that lusting in your heart is just as bad as acting on it.
TheAnubisDrake 11 months ago
@MoveOrder Lust is in no way wrong under the proper conditions.
The conditions being a monogamously pure marriage. When these conditions are met, lust can play a role in a small child. Lust outside of that though is like adultery to God. This is due to God's holiness.
RubixWizz199109 11 months ago
@RubixWizz199109
Yet another person with his own interpretation of the Bible, how original.
Explain pure marriage.
I was talking about humans and other animals to 100,000 years ago or earlier.
Without lust, without sex, there will be no offspring
Do you understand?
