Royal Oak Michigan 1979 Pat and the group came and it was exquisite. There were so many encores they played long past the time they were suppose to and of course the police showed but whenever he came to Metro Detroit area I was there. The man's music is timeless.
@babyboo1940 Yes timeless indeed! I'm from Michigan and I saw him several times at Pine Knob and Meadowbrook. Lawn seats with a basket of food and beer/wine, (back when it was allowed) Mellow memories!
@funnymom7 I bought this when it first came out....still have the LP but also have it on cassette and CD....one of the best albums....just titled 'Pat Metheny Group'....I refer it to as 'The 2nd White Album'....
The song that got me interested in their music. It still holds the magic with me that it did back in 1978 when the song came out.
Just a side note: this is the slowest tempo for this song that I've heard. They pick up the tempo later in the song, but then return to an agonizingly slow pace. Feels like Pat and Lyle fell asleep!

this is just HEAVEN!!!! i love pmg but this Rodby guy just dosnt fit in! but gottlieb was a fucking little jaco for me!!!! god bless who upload this!!
I've seen Pat many times and for years he opened the show with Phase Dance/San Lorenzo just like the group self-titled album. It was a magical start to the show each and every time.I love It!!!!!
hbsunsun this is the swan song if you will, of Pat Metheny Group, as well their first. I first heard this masterpiece driving home from an Angels baseball game on a station named KSBR was playing this. I was absolutely captivated and hypnotized when I heard this song. Just an absolutely perfect piece of music.
djembelife couldnt agree more my favourite as fall wichita so witchta falls? Goodbye is also beautiful listen to Nana voice at the very end of the track its just discernable with the last note thank you barlofink!
This song made a perfect soundtrack for a drive down California Route 1 on a sunny day --83 degrees--from Monterey toward Big Sur with my newly-wed first wife and one of my best friends in 1982. I couldn't think of a track that echoed the mood better.
Bought the double cassette years ago and played it on my own travels. I don't think I've ever owned any other tape that got so much wear. I played it to death. 5*
Another masterpiece by a master.

I live in England now, but it reminds me of my time at College in the US and an old and long lost love affair!

Also loved this since 1977 (LP), but one of the few artist that always brought a lonelyness to me when I heard them play. Go figure.
Sorry we lost Gerry Rafferty this month.
