@a75429 Not fake, worked. There is a big difference. I also love how people comment on these videos and say 'fake' like it's a big revelation. There isn't a promotion or combat sports organization that hasn't seen at least one or two worked fights. Even the UFC has seen a couple (perhaps the most glaring coming at UFC VI when Anthony Macias threw a fight against Oleg Taktarov in order to give Taktarov an easy road to the finals.)
The fight was owesome, but Gerard was way better, and I can't understand why couldn't he finish this guy, he had so much opportunities... but I know that in the ring things look a lot different.
That's because this is fake. The early days of shooto was all pro wrestling. It wasn't until the UFC showed up that shooto finally went legit with full mma rules.
No. Shooto is Satoru Sayamas promotion and was always a shoot. This is Maedas RINGS promotion, which was worked shoot at first, and then became "real" MMA.
Fake..2 punch combos, no follwup, weak arm bars. Look when Maeda gets kicked in the face 8:15, he reacts like a 'pro' wrestler. Why the big gloves? it only benefits your opponent..hand wraps and light gloves will protect your hands and inflict hurt on your opponent.
Wtf is wrong with Gordeau? He got a punch and kick power of a little girl! He landed 300 kicks and punches until Maeda felt it! Hahahaha what a looser!
Was a total work. Gordeau can hit so hard and Maeda could have broke his arm at will...especially with those big gloves. Don't for a minute think it was real.
A real fighter, great spirit! Complete and a real fighter!! He was and is one of the first complete fighters on international level! All of you who know how hard it is to get a bit of close to this level knwo that Gordeau is no show, it is real!
I think I saw this guy Maeda on the martial art TV series "rallarsving", he talked about how he lost some of his vision many years ago, in this fight perhaps?
For a fake fight them strikes by Gordeau sure looked real? Had me fooled for quite awhile. But the back and forth momentum change everytime one guy was in control got pretty obvious after awhile.
Please note that this was a worked pro-wrestling match that took place in a promotion called UWF, that never had any real shoots, and instead had worked shoots.
I think mr gordeau IS a great fighter, why did he wear boxing gloves here??? we see so many fixed fights and anabol guys just for show , what gordeau does is real karate and like him or not real karate is a hard sport!as a sports fan i would place him on the same level as jerome le banner or higher!greetings from holland frits
8:07-8:20 Looks fixed, like a PW match haha, just the was the japanese guy reacts to the knees, then to the kick to the face, then he stunned and Gerrard goes for the pin, lol
WTF? This Japanese guy needs to work on his wrestling skills. He couldnt hold Gerrard down. And Gerrard stuffed many take downs woth absolutley no wrestling skills
gerard gordeau is also a member of dutch kyokushin team fighting for 1987 world championship.the 1987 team probably the best dutch kyokushin team ever.
Gordeau is also famous for winning the first ever UFC fight (in about thirty seconds) and being one of the first UFC tournament finalist, and being beat by Royce Gracie.
Agreed, he is fucking low-life. I can't imagine a person who would eye gouge anyone just to win a sports match. He definately has some perversion for eyes (i.e. damaging that sumowrestlers eye in UFC).

I feel bad for Gordeau. He had to take all those shin kicks bare vs. Maeda's pads and boots.

Was this a work? Looked pretty theatrical for a real fight, and Gordeau wasn't throwing with full power.

Should have quit the high kicks at the end, far to easy to read something that is overused.

Gordeau is from The Haghue (holland)
I trained in dojo kamakura.
I saw that the brothers Gordeau are realy kyokushin fanatics.
The school is for many problem-youth a very good place to be.
If you know the area of the school you can imagine the the hardness of the school
I agree gerard is the hardest of the brothers, but I know him personaly, he can only talk about the sport. He is a real kyokushinkai
