@blood117 because the engine stalled. theres a safty feature on automatic transmissions that when the car is in gear and it is forced to roll backward the engine will cut off. thats why u never see criminals throw it in reverse because the engine died.
I see now why this isn't used so much in Europe. The people there are smart enough to change gear themselves, so pit maneuver does not cut engine as all they must do is press clutch in.
@Daniels1999 Because there are 6 guns aimed at his head. There's a helicopter following him. His volvo probably stalled. He was fucked and he knew it.
When you "Pit" a car with an automatic transmission it kills the motor because the wheels all of the sudden are spinning backwards. I'm sure he could have put it in park and restarted but im sure the guns in his face were a priority.
Trust me it will. I've tried it but not on purpose. Hit Snow and got spun around. you actually have to put the car in park and restart it. The torque converter spins backwards and kills the motor. It was kinda fun though!
@akshona Why the hell don't they chuck it in neutral, even automatics have that. I would hope that if they feel comfortable enough to speed at the speeds they do, they can feel the car starting to slide; chucking it in neutral while it's still starting to spin around would be the smart thing to do. [If you don't notice a cop coming up to P.I.T to you and get ready to react for that, your a damn fool in any case].
do you americans have bullet proof doors then?

Shake the camera some more, and see if you can muffle the audio a bit; just to give that extra bit of absolutely SHIT quality.

To my understanding there should be a reverse gear standard in all vehicles.

I'm not so sure if it'll kill your engine, but of course i don't drive automatic and when I used to, I wouldnt try to get pitted purposely lol.

It's really refreshing to hear the media say "Great job and LAPD" all in the same sentence. The LAPD ia awesome. Always has been. Always will be.
