  • why u drive ur truck with the over drive off?

  • I wish my explorer sport was working last month my chains went. The truck left me stranded at Checker Auto with a full tank of gas

  • i can't wait until you spit out your timing chain ....sohc engine suck ...yeah they might have the extra hp but once your timing set goes your better off changing your engine

  • @josecastillonyc well thanks for that buddy. i was going to install new chains, cassettes and bullshit cuz i was gonna pull the motor to do it but the trans went and i rebuilt the trans and drove it round and then the chains jumped teeth valves hit pistons and motor is blown to smitherines. so thanks for you two cents.

  • @Nitrousoxidefast so your explorer is dead now?

  • @josecastillonyc That is exactly what happened to me :(

  • @josecastillonyc must be a kid say this shit

  • @kokaneeassault I don't get your comment ,, did you mean to say "must be a kid to say this shit" and if that's what you were trying to say YOU MUST BE VERY SMART.......

  • @josecastillonyc no very kidish good job boy

  • @kokaneeassault let me guess, you took my comment to the heart because you are one of the few that thinks ford is the best thing out there.....i've owned a few fords in my life and i would never ever buy one again ... i've had from mustang 5.slow to the biggest garbage of them all ..the explorer ..so i know what i'm talking about . if i'm going to stick with a american made truck i would rather go with a chevy or dodge truck ....

  • @josecastillonyc ok stick with steet trucks good for weekends

  • @kokaneeassault yeah that's what i'm working on right now ...my weekend toy to play in the mud

  • @josecastillonyc what is a sohc engine? I have a dohc engine in my 4x4 and a sohv in my sport but I have yet to see a sohc.

  • @josecastillonyc

They only suck to arrogent people such as yourself that dont understand them

  • @RAJSTA81 ok i'm arrogent so what .......ford still suck balls just like your comment ...btw merry xmas

  • @josecastillonyc

Where did you mention anything about Ford n you original comment???

Maybe you need be a little more specific ya Dumbshit..Happy New Year.

  • Shit, I'll put an intake on the Explorer I'm getting from my aunt just for that sound. haha

  • what do you have for modifications on the truck? is it just the intake?

  • I'm trying to get one for mine, lol! Maybe we can all share ideas and places we can get parts for Explorers and Mountaineers, alike!

  • Check out bamachips dot you know what!

Call them ask for Doug Studdard, and he will set you up with a custom tuner and it makes a huge improvement on acceleration gas mileage when your not on it hard, and shift timing. It woke mine right up.

Also i got this exact same intake and i like the "turbo whistle" it makes when your climbing a hill at about 40-50km/h, it turns heads sometimes haha

Get a single-out 2-1/2" highflow exhaust to keep the right amount of backpressure

  • filthy! i have a 2001 explorer sport, do you think the same intake you have would fit mine? 4.0L SOHC 210hp 240torque. i think its all the same specs?

  • of course dude. its the same exact engine and engine components. lol. the 95-01 explorers have the same body styles and engines. the 4.0L OHV, 4.0LSOHC, and the 5.0LSOHC. our explorers are known as the "2nd gen" explorers.

  • the 5.0 was ohv, but all good.

  • What do you do for fuel economy? ive got a lifted 2000 sport with the OHV. Its got 4.10s so ive got a good amount of torque but id like it to have a bit more acceleration and gas mileage...The only thing is that this engine has been bulletproof for me thats why im hesitant to swap it out.

  • to tell you the truth, i dont keep track of my gas mileage at all and the only reason i bought the intake was for the sound. right now im gettin terrible gas mileage on it but i have no clue why.

  • @Nitrousoxidefast i dont think the cold air intake helps out with gas mileage as much as every one seems to think k&n neglect to tell you that gas mileage varies on the type of car and you gain more power and torque more than any improvement on fuel economy in my ranger i got a tornando and an amsoil filter combo done to my stock intake manifold for a fraction of the price you probably would spend on a k&n kit(around 90$ installed) i gain about 11HPnot sure on the torque & my gas has improved

  • @ikaikaboy88 Bring your vehicle to a dyno and put it to stock and then put your amsoil shit on it and see what happens, not much!

Its about having an unrestricted intake system, that is smooth and can flow as much cubic feet per minutes of air as Obama can

  • @mattmatt115 hey i will try to dyno it for you if you think that'll prove anything but my mileage has improved over stock and i ain't dynoing it till i get my super chip and magnaflow on and take off the delta 40 series i already have on. So just chill for a bit and i'll message you bro

  • @ikaikaboy88 Oh dont buy a superchip please!!!!!!!!!!! its a mass produced "improve all" piece of shit like a mainstream antivirus

Call Bamachips and get them to make one specific to your vehicle, dont fuck around with fix all products like liquid mechanics and "superman chips"

  • @mattmatt115 well i am looking for what would be the most COST efficient but i could use a hand is bama chips where its at nowadays?

  • @Nitrousoxidefast lol i used twice as much it seems after a put the intake on my 02 4.0 sohc b4000 "ford ranger" just mazda's

  • @Nitrousoxidefast maybe becuz i like to hear the intake grut at like 3k rpm+ lol

  • @Nitrousoxidefast It could be running rich to much air can cuse you to run rich which = bad MPG

  • @Nitrousoxidefast how about the 4.6 sohc?

  • @Nitrousoxidefast The OHV and SOHC have different CAI size. I know because I have an SOHC and accidentally placed an order for the CAI for the OHV, and the pipe is WAY bigger. Just the pipe comes out to about the side of my truck, and the elbow isn't the right angle size, and also the lines that go into the CAI aren't in the same spot.

  • Why does your battery gages showing low?

  • it was an old battery but i got a new one now.

  • sorry i keep hitting the "remove" button instead of "reply." some of the lights in the gague cluster burnt out so i had them replaced and in order to get to those lights, the needles had to be removed. my gas gague is also messed up so when i put my reverse glow gagues in i fixed them and now the battery gague is smack dab in the middle

  • Yah true that stock tube is really, really ugly...I was short on cash and it was the cheapest way, only paid $40 for the filter and $30 for the rest of the tubing that ran under the truck. I still want a k/n because of how good they look though the spectre kit actually gave me more HP than what the k/n kit promised...still ugly though...no props for style...all props for me being a cheap bastard. :)

  • If your not looking to spend $260 spectre makes kits in pieces so you dont have to replace the factory tubes runing to the throttle body. may not look as good but you dont have to mess with all of the tubing runing into the factory tube..as mine has like 4 hoses runing into it it was easier just to reuse the factory tube..plus the filter allows you to install tubing onto it so you can run tubing below the front bumper alowing you to pull up even cooler denser air..

  • i was looking in to that but i just thought the stock tube was really ugly and the k/n was a clean look. but its really personal preference and how much you are willing to spend. :)

  • I originally had the k&n set up on my 4.0 sohc, while replacing my timing chain tensioner at work I lowered the rack on my k&n intake tube (cracking it) i heard a lot of good things about volant so i decided to give them a try. i was amazed at the difference. volant completely covers the conical filter with a poly urethane box that connects to your factory air duct allowing nothing but cool air to enter filter (awesome design) only downfall is less agressive sound due to covered filter

  • does the intake suck up any water at all?

I want to put one on my 4.0 05 Mountaineer.

  • nah man not at all. the heat shield makes a seal so it sucks up air from the ground. the only way that you could possibly suck up air is to drive through a river or squirt a hose onto the engine.

  • sounds good..how much did this cost you?

  • it costed $250 at my local auto store. its the entire intake tube and filter up to the throttle body. makes it sound like a turbo and it opens up the sound of the engine. truly a great investment not only because of the power but better mileage as well.

  • NICE
