I hope these protests continue until pride is FREE ir at least more affordable - as it was always meant to be. Pride is about freedom, freedom to be who you want to be where you want to be with who you want to be. I don't mind paying to go in a club or to a concert but simply to walk around the street or sit in the park with my friends in the summer its not right and sounds like it needs serious investigation.
in my opinion i think that manchester pride is amazing. although maybe all the money doesnt go to the right causes, remember that people who go there feel welcome and at home. it was my first pride this year and its the most welcome ive ever felt. However people shouldnt need to go to these kinds of places to be proud of who you are, you should already feel that. Manchester pride has done that for me, and now i am proud of my sexuality and i can take that away with me. well worth the money!
Some gay equality campaigners have been saying for years Pride has lost sight of its roots
In Cornwall a gay youth, Peter Midwood, was NOT WELCOME at Cornwall pride event because of his experiences (and other gay peoples) of HOMOPHOBIC police in Cornwall!
Search 'Homophobia gay youth' on youtube and watch his videos or search 'homosexuallover', it's Peters own video channel.
Think all the protesters live, work and study in Manchester, so it's their P/pride also... It would be great to see a real show of solidarity with community-run pride events in Poland, Belgrade, Iraq and Moscow, but it appears that the rich & powerful elite behind MP are happy to censor free speech, political debate and curb civil liberties to ensure they all profit to the tune of £22 million pink pounds... And the "T" tacked on the end is for Transgender, another missing feature of Mcr P/pride!
We would love an event in Manchester that supports the original aims of Pride and which is inclusive of all queers, however they identify. The current Manchester Pride doesn't do that.
Why should anyone have to go elsewhere (or pay) to celebrate who they are?
hepcat1989 how come you have a blank page on YouTube? No videos, no favourites, no friends. Almost as if it was created just to post critical comments?
Great video.
