I use AVC to convert videos to this device and have found that Xvid codec is the one that actually works. Mobile MPEG 4 with the Xvid codec and 320x240 seems to work best. Its not the best screen to watch videos on but sometimes I just like watching random videos and this device makes it kinda easy once you get the hang of it and convert them right. I don't like the software that comes with it.
I don't like that it won't just repeat one artist or folder. Well at least I cant get it to... Every time I turn off the device it doesn't save my EQ settings! File transfers are SLOW! I would maybe recommend formatting the built memory and setting a higher allocation size or "CACHE". I had to do that on the micro SD that I put into the device and seems too work better. I actually like the slide out USB I wanted and have had no problems with it, though I think it could slide out easier.

@cerahl What, ebooks well I always get PDF they are easiest to work with you just need to use. because the Ematic can only read Txt or text files. use Foxit 5.1 reader and then you should if they are unprotected just go to file save as and save as txt but for other formats Epub and lit use Calibre you can download it from calibre-ebookdotcom / download no spaces
@cerahl oh yeah when installing Calibre it will ask where you want the books in libary saved make sure you select somewhere easy to remember like Documents create a new folder name it Calibre books and then when you select Convert make sure you select out put file to TXT and it should make a txt copy in the folder you selected when setting calibre up.. hope it works for you..
@cerahl you probably better off getting Calibre from Cnet dot com just put into the search box Calibre and download version. 8.38 after clicking where it is on Cnet where it has Price it should read Free.

We can not charge this on our computer. It charged on a friends laptop, but when we plug it in to ours absolutely nothing happens. Nothing. And yes, the USB ports used are in working order. Just don't understand.
@susansnapp well first you have to turn on the mp3 player plug it in and the screen with a computer and usb looking cord will pop up & wait 15 seconds.then push the middle button 1 time and then a battery will pop up. the mp3 player will say charging..thats how you charge it but if nothing happens,,try to reset by sticking something in the reset hole at the top of the mp3 player..And if nothing happens then i would probably return it and say you having problems charging it!!

@tripleogcain what exactly is it doing? Mine wouldn't at first, but remember that when it is plugged into the computer, it will first go to the usb mode. push the turn on/off button to get it off of that, then it should bring up the charging screen. hope I helped.

@Johnniethesportsguy Relax. First, your video needs to be 320 pixels WIDE or less. It also cannot be 240 pixels high (up and down). I have encoded to native FLV (flash video) with Virtual Dub for my children and now they have done it repeatedly with their players. They REALLY like these things! And they love capturing Netflix movies and then re-encoding to FLV so they can watch them later on their Ematics. Funny...

turning on the unit using the on/off switch at the top
plug in the unit, and wait the 15 sec before turning it off using the on button (#7) found on the front of the unit.
it should then charge

The USB is actually tough, and you have to push a little harder on the little handle. DO NOT try to press in the usb itself.
