  • @turnermom1 It's called a Celboard. I love it!

  • hehe looks like playdoh :D

  • Hi Edna. I love your tutorial videos as they are so helpful. Can you tell me how you would store these if you make them in advance? Also, if you're using all fondant how much tylose would you add. I know it would depend on how much fondant you use but do you have a ratio? You refer to glue in your video on attaching the pearl border to the cake. How would you attache the border to a buttercream iced cake?

    Thank you.

  • @sorrelli4me I dont make these in advance, I make them as I am doing the cake. For the tylose i go by feel. I pour a little bit and when it feels a good xonsistency I stop. If it gets too hard I add more fondant. Usually you get comfortable with it the more you play with it.I would use gum glue to attach to buttercream too.

    Edna :)

  • Hi Edna, Can I use my Luster Dust with Alcohol and/or Lemon Extract in my airbrush?

  • I use a bigger brush.

    Edna :)

  • Hi Edna, where can I buy the mold? michaels?? do they come in diff. sizes?

  • Only over the internet. Check first Impressions Mold Website.

    Edna :)

  • Thank you!!! so much, I still practicing but I don't seem to get it.

  • Dont get frustrated...is like writing..takes time to learn..

    Edna :)

  • Oh by the way, pls let me know when you are going to start selling stuff online. Thanks : )

  • I will

    Edna :)

  • Hi Edna, I just bought a 12mm mold from D&G ocassion and it looks alot different than yours. The brand is CK. It is not as open like the mold you use, is actually very narrow and hard to open. Do you have any techniques on how to use that kind of molding? I just dont seem to find the one that you have. Thank you : )

  • Yes, I have that one too..that one makes round pearls instead of flat ones. A bit more difficult to move but really pretty..Let me see what I can do about that, my list keeps growing..lol

    Edna :)

  • Hi Edna, Thank you for your tutorials. It has been a great help to me since i am self-teaching myself on Cake decorating. I was wondering how do i color my pearls after i make them? what do you recommend

  • You can pre color the fonadant

    Edna :)

  • wow thanks for the tutorial ..very nicely done..i just have one question........how the heck can you work with those nails! i would not be able to function without causing permanent bodily damage to myself let alone playing with fondant and gumpaste without destroying it! lol!

  • lol..I have a long base on my nail, they are not that long I am more used to work with gloves too at work, but for the video they are distracting. I guess I am used to them

    Edna

  • Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, Edna. I really thought the borders were made by rolling individual balls of fondant or gumpaste and it would take forever lol. This is a great tool.

  • You can do it like that too, is more whimsical. But is fun!

    Edna :)

  • Edna, is the Glue you used the gum past and water glue?

  • Yes..is gumpaste dissolved in water.

    Edna :)

  • HI Edna, I was just showing you how I use the patchwork cutters. Also I wanted you to see the Cala Lilly to comment on them, I did them after I looked at your meno.

  • HI edna, I have gotten very useful tips on your demos. I was wandering whether you can do a demo on Patchwork and fundant moulds!!

  • What kind of patchwork?

    Edna :)

  • Thankful that you responded, I am happy, I have the butter fly and some roses, and quilt. Its just that I have not been any demo on them And I have the sugar mould that I was told I can use fondant in them. but the edges on the scrolls are not pleasent when I am finish. There is also an alphabet mould I cannot seem to get them smooth and nice out of the moulds. I am Jackie from the Craibbean Island of Saint Lucia.

  • Can you send me a link for the ones you are talking about? There are so many out there and I want to make sure I can explain you correctly how to use them..

    Edna :)

  • edna ur awesome!!!

  • I'm totally enjoying learning from you. would love to know your favorite gumpaste and fondant recipes. :D !! thanks...your cakes are amazing!

  • I have a few recipes on my website.. The only one I haven added is the fondant cause I usually buy it pre-made. We work with too many cakes a week to do the fondant. We used too, but it was crazy!

    Edna :)

  • Hello Edna, just a quick question about your guide you have. What exactly is it & where did you buy it? Thanks so much for your videos & willingness to share your talent. God Bless, Ciao!

  • I bought it from first impressions mold. Is a silicone mold.

    Edna :)

  • Hi Edna

great video...what size mold is that your using in the video

  • 10, 8 and 6mm

    Edna :)

  • Edna,

Great video. If you wanted to make the pearls shiny like a pearl how would you do that? How far in advance can you make the pearls? Can you store them for a big cake? So you don't have so much last minute stuff to do?

  • I would not do them ahead of time, the joints would be more difficult to hide.

You can use super pearl luster dust to make them shiny.

    Edna :)

  • Edna! awesome video as usual! Where can i purchase this mold? what is it called and what glue is that you used? is it store bought or home made?

  • Hi Edna! How do you get the look of the string of pearls?.....like at the beginning of your video.

  • They are all done with the same mold at the begining of the video. But there is another mold from CK company that makes round pearls.

    Edna :)

  • vous avez trop de chance d avoir des moules de toutes forme pour les décores ! en france c est trop la misère pour faire de l originale !

  • You are so awesome Edna! That pencil and pearl technique is really great! Gracias!!! ^.^

  • wow, I love your makeup. What eyeshadows are you using?

  • me gusta mucho tu tutorias estan muy bien explicadas. Geacias que existe gente como tu, porque yo no tengo dinero para tomar clases y contigo he aprendido mucho. gracias

  • Thanks for showing this video, i thought the pearl was individually rolled out and molded into balls. I am delighted to know that there is a tool that can assist one for creating this effect. Thanks for enlightening me. God bless you.

  • Edna, I was just on the First Impression website looking for that silicone mold you used in this video to make the pearl border. Can you tell me what are the dimensions of the pearls? Is it the 10,8, & 6mm or the 5, 4, & 3 mm impression. Lo quiero comprar. :) Hay cuando tengas tiempo me dices ok? Gracias! Tu amiga, Laura

  • Is the 10, 8, 6

    Edna :)

  • Gracias Edna!

  • I loved the way you showed that pencil....

    oooooooooooooo....

  • lol..thanks!

  • damn ur fine....

  • edna. thanks for sherrin!! the pencil tip is great!!!!!!!!!!!!

    thanks again!!!

    take care

  • How long is that mold? around 12 inches?

  • Yes, I would say it is between 10 to 12 inches..

    Edna :)

  • Thanks for that pencil tip! :)

How do you make a dummy cake?

  • Just like a cake but with styrofoam

    Edna :)

  • I had no idea there was a mold that made a flat sided strand of pearls! I have the type that makes two sided strands and I find myself not wanting to get it out! Also, your mold is much longer than mine! Thank you for educating me. :-)

  • Edna,

What glue do you use for the pearl to stick to the fondant of the cake. Do you use just plain water? Thanks

  • I use gumpaste diluted in water. Or you can use extracts. You can use water, but be careful.Toomuch of it is not good. With any glue.

    Edna

  • Can you keep this in a jar so it is readily available when you work? I really do not like working with water because sometimes the fondant flower just falls off, not very sturdy. thanks for your very quick reply.

  • I save mine in the fridge..

    Edna

  • Thanks, you are great!

  • thank you... :) love your videos!

  • Thanks!...

  • do you have to grease the mold?

  • No you dont grease the mold. Usually I use gumpaste or fondant with tylose without having to add anything. But if you need something, cornstarch would be my choice.

    Edna :)

  • Thank you for responding so quickly!

  • Anytime!..;)

  • Hi Edna,

Thanks for the video! What size is your pearl mold? I can't wait to order one!

    Rae

  • For those who asked me the size of the pearls, They are 10, 8 and 6mm .

    Edna :)

  • Hi Edna!! I LOVE your videos and your work is amazing!! I have a question for you. If I stick fondant onto a buttercream cake, will the gum paste glue hold it on there? Is it true that the fondant will start to eat away at the buttercream after a while? I appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks in advance!! :)

  • I always cover my cakes in buttercream and then if they have fondant I added to the cake. Not everybody likes fondant, so having the buttercream under is a choice so you can still have icing and get rid of the fondant.

It wont eat your fondant away. I never had that problem. Now if you are using stand up figures and they are not totally dry it might break the piece cause it will melt. They need to be fully dried..

    Edna

  • Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Edna!! I really appreciate all of your help!! You're awesome!! :)

  • Nice job. I love that mold. It looks much easier than the one I own.

  • For those who asked me the size of the pearls, They are 10, 8 and 6mm .

    Edna :)

  • The tip of using the tool (or pencil) is great. I've heard so many negative things about pearl molds that I never got one, now after seeing this, I WANT ONE! ;-) Thanks, Edna!

  • I had another one from another company, and the pearls kept breaking, it was too short, so many things went wrong with it.I had given up on them too. This one has been the best product not only for pearls but their molds are awesome! I just bought lots of them at ICES convention..:)

  • Yes, great tip with the pencil; I've had such a difficult time rolling "snakes". I love your pronunciation. Thanks for all of your help.

  • Very very nice ^_^ you have done a great job again sweetie keep it up.You go girl

  • Edna that was FANTASTIC!I always wondered how they were done !Great pencil tip to ,that will come in handy for lots of things !Thnks!!

  • Thanks for this video!

  • thanks for that trick with the pencil. you are so gorgeous edna!

    -cupcakeshoppe

  • Thanks!..;)
