this scene reminds me of my freshman year of high school football.i was lettering with the varsity squad, and we had just won the first round of the state playoffs. a student from the other team had committed suicide the week before. we had a silent prayer for him and his family and even though we won, the night was full of tears. there really is no way to describe that night it full detail, but it will be one of the most memorable nights i will have ever witnessed

Does anybody know the name of the song that plays just prior to this sequence? When Saracen comes on and the last few minutes are played, intercut with Street in surgery. It's definitely not "Remember Me As a Time of Day", which comes on as soon as the game ends. Though it does sound very Explosions in the Sky still. It's driving me crazy! Thanks.

@jedidiggler I think it is one of the songs made by W.G. "Snuffy" Walden for this show. It does indeed sound a lot like Explosions in the Sky. There are a couple of other songs in the show which were made by him but I don't know where to find them, quite a shame really.

Friday Night Lights will only have two seasons for me. The rest of the seasons lost it's original touch.

Season 1 is beautifully captured and so perfectly written and performed.

@Meloman0001 Well I finished the first two seasons. The first was OK - I enjoyed it. The second season was awful. It fell away from its roots. The show wasn't about football at all anymore! I'm not even close to a football nut, but with this decision they took the heart and soul out of the show. They decided to focus so much on each characters increasingly unrealistic high school lives. So much for that.

It's a bit predictable, but the characters are what make the show such a success. It's not a bunch of wealthy bachelors in NYC like other shows.

The writers use football to bring you into the life of really normal (? maybe less than normal) people. The later seasons suffer from a "1 liner" problem where they try to end too many scenes with witticisms.
