After watching a bunch of the jazz bands, marching bands, high school bands...etc doing this piece, and then watching this original live version, there's just no comparison at all. The original is so much more dynamic, alive, exciting, and the players are all just of much higher caliber.

The Seatbelts are the main reason why Cowboy Bebop was so popular! Their music in the series gives the action a real depth to how the scene plays out. The opening theme is no exception. I think they also did the music to another one of my favorite animes, Gunsmith Cats.

@TheB4t5 that's not a straight sax solo, there's some type of dubbing or autotuning in there. you can hear it best at 3:33 when there's feedback, or when he builds up to the solo at 3:23. I play an alto sax, and i can tell you that not all of the music coming at you is from that one guy.

@davidhluther that is called delay, which could either be an effect (hell he is using a microphone, so I'm sure it is on a soundboard with effects). I'm also a sax player, and have done quite a few solos (jazz, rock and classical) that use guitar effects :) delay is rather easy to achieve.

Delay is still all him, guitarist use it all the time, and I don't think anyone would say 'that's not a straight guitar solo'. Delay isn't dubbing or autotuning, and I agree that would constitute some form of fakery, delay on the other hand, is legit, as it probably existed when performed live.
