This is very interesting. I would never have even thougth of someone doing much of Hendrix's songs. The Allman Brothers Band do an excellent version. Thanks. When Jimi Hendrix left this world; i was looking for a new sounding band. My friend played me The Allman Brothers Band and now hooked! lol

Dangerous to play Hendrix straight out. Interpret it, sure, but don't do a "cover." Stevie Ray never nailed it, but he had the right spirit -- three-man band! This is heavy junk. But, as an after-hours cool down for a country band, it's cool. More power to 'em.

Aaaa... I really hate it that the Allman Brothers have turned into a jam band. Something about the syncopation of this song is off, but that's their style, and that makes it good music. It's pretty cool to see a classic group take on a classic song done by another artist.

@joebrassmonkey I was born in 1947 and been a huge Allman Brothers fan since 1970. The original lineup was by far the best. This lineup, as good as the musicians are, doesn't come close. They don't swing and mesh together like the original. Listen to Live At Fillmore East or the live stuff from Eat A Peach. And the extended live Eat A Peach. This version of the band just doesn't swing like a big band as did the original lineup on songs like Trouble No More and Statesboro Blues.

Have you listened to "Live At the Fillmore East", the live tracks from "Eat a Peach", the additional live tracks on the new version of Eat a Peach or the July 4th concerts at the Atlanta Speedway in 1970? There is no way you can listen to the ORIGINAL Allman Brothers and say the current lineup is better!! And where are the new songs that equal Blue Sky, Jessica,Dreams, Whipping Post, Elizabeth Reed, Mellisa, Ain't Waisting Time No More etc????
