For all of those wondering: THIS IS OUTDATED. It's impossible to do this rotation in Cataclysm. Don't ask questions about this unless you're going to be a good troll. New rotation: 939, not 969. 3 = Crusader Strike. 9 = 3xHoPo Shield of the Righteous is better than (i.b.t.) Avenger's Shield i.b.t. Judgement i.b.t Consecration i.b.t. Holy Wrath. Mana issues = skip consecrate. Unlike the old rotation, you can't just bang your head on your keyboard and /win in Cata.

Imagine in ICC heroic. Those trinket's are needed and can't just be burned off at the beginning.

Theres no "rotation" for a protection paladin. It's depending on which boss and what you think is the best.

This rotation may be used regardless of what trinkets you are using. And many ICC heroic pally tanks are using the 969 rotation. At this late in WotLK this rotation is basically universally accepted.

Any rotation besides this one will cause either < 100% Holy Shield uptime or Judgements of the Just (melee attack speed slow) to fall off the target.

There are greater TPS rotations (but nothing that produces 24k TPS as you say) but this rotation keeps up both of your important defensive tools while maximizing TPS.

judgement and seal are 2 different things. Judgement of light (does dmg and places a magic effect that gives hp to the attackers of the mob/boss applied), judgement of wisdom (does dmg, places mana back - magic effect - to the attackers).

Now... Seals just give the abilities, for example, light gives more hp back, wisdom gives mana, Veng does a percentage of ur MH's dmg, and SoC does holy dmg based to ur sp.

You should be using Divine Plea (which will be up continually through the Guarded by the Light talent, Blessing of Sanctuary and at least 1/2 talent points in Spiritual Attunement.

If you're still going oom you need to pull larger groups of trash. If you're going oom on boss encounters (even with DP and BoSanc up) then you simply outgear the content and should be tanking w/o your pants.

SoC is even better if you use 3/5 Reckoning for trash. I would put it into your single-target boss tanking spec but on large trash packs it's really really nice.

Hence, I run two prot specs. One for single target boss tanking (with AS glyph) w/o SoC and Reckoning and one with 3/5 Reckoning and SoC (also with the Glyph of HotR) for trash and aoe packs / heroics.

No. AS is whenever you need it. Put on all of your pre-fight abilities/buffs, especially Divine Plea, run in, fire off AS, or HoR if you're pulling just one, drop your Consecration, enter your rotation and watch for baddies moving towards your healers/DPS.

Also, make sure you have the Power Auras addon and configure it to remind you when any of your abilities/buffs have fallen off. It's a MAJOR help so you never forget about Divine Plea or if you have Crusader Aura up.

That would be Power Auras again. There is very little you can't do with abilities, buffs and debuffs in PA.

If you Google it, you'll see many people make rainbow-like auras around their toon, each color meaning a different ability is ready, buff is on, etc.

I personally like to create icons for each ability (simlar to #showtooltip in macros) and set those icons to "orbit" around my toon. Ex: Forget to turn on RF after a wipe? Get a flying RF icon on your screen until you turn it on. :P

You can also chain PA alerts so that one alert only happens when another is on.  A "Divine Intervention reminder" (#2) only comes on if your "health is < 10%" (#1), something like that.

I also have trinket cooldowns as static reminders below my toon for easy viewing.

Why macroed? For me, two things: Ease of use (only two fingers, less to concentrate on) and bar space. I do have Consecrate both in my macro and out on the bar for special use but that's it. Two buttons hold five abilities.

If you haven't been using the 6969 rotation that is demonstrated in this video, you are not maximizing your dps/tps 6969 rotation is proven mathematically as the best dps/tps rotation for a prot paladin because you never waste a global cooldown, you always have an ability to use and are never waiting for cooldowns to finish and have spare seconds in which you do nothing. Try your rotation on a target dummy then try this you will see.

the reason is called a 6969 rotation is because of the 1 second globle coold down you get when ever you cast a spell and as for the judgements, tallented which it should be your judgements will also be on an 8 second CD

Holy shield lasts 10 seconds, on an 8 second cooldown. The 11% downtime on Consc doesn't affect TPS that much. it's 969 for simplicity's sake

Not sure if anyone has responded to you yet, but the reason it's 9 instead of 8 is because the global cooldown is 1.5 seconds. During the global cooldown, you cannot cast anything except your taunts or divine protection as a prot pally. Due to that, it goes 0-1.5-3.0-4.5-6.0-7.5-9.0. Notice how you never hit eight? Because 1.5 doesn't divide into 8 as a whole number.

also depending on the pull you might have to switch your rotation up..being.. if you are aoe tanking you want to prioritize the moves that hit more than just one target being your conser and hammer. while if single target you use judge and shield. learning what is best for each situation will greatly increase your tps but you skill as a tank as well
