Yeah.. So.. I'm not sure why everyone says this is too long.. It's only taken her like 20 minutes, and a lot of that was explaining... So quit whining. Just don't do it if it's too much for you to handle. :P
damn girl you are cute as fuck i'll take you out in sweat pants and a hoodie with no make-up and on your worst hair day because you are that damn sexy!! ;)
Thanks!! :) Ok, so If you're twisting your hair, you really do need to take the time to dry it, otherwise it'll stick to your head and be very flat. I actually don't usually twist it now, but have a different technique I use-- I'll do a vid of it soon... It would allow for more "air drying".. but also dries faster with the blowdryer than the twisted wet-set.
Parting? Well, I don't like to have a defined part, so I'll usually alternate pieces on each side. good luck! lemme know how it goes!
The whole point of the diffuser is to diffuse the blast of air so that it doesn't disturb the curl pattern and cause frizz. Handling the hair the way you do cancels that out, making you need to use a lot more product to bind the hair strands together to prevent frizz.
Just rake in the mousse, no brushing or manhandling lol, scrunch and diffuse WITHOUT moving the blowdryer while it's on. Don't touch your hair untl it's dry, other than to scrunch.
lol!! Ok, so I haven't actually done THIS technique in over a year now, just haven't uploaded new vids of the way I do it now (no twisting, and I comb in the shower-- not touching after other than my gel). But the other day I was almost out of gel, so tried what you were saying, (not moving till dry), and it worked great. So great tip-- I'm adding it to my repertoire! :D
it's just however you like it better. Some people look great with their hair parted in the middle. I can't usually pull it off, so I need to part to the side. If you like your hair in the middle, go for it. :) Good luck with it. Let me know how it goes!
Nice video ;) but I don't think the brushing helps very much..... But thnx and I will try this tomorrow. I got wavey hair and sometimes its very curly and sometimes very straight...so I hope this will help :)
my hair is like shoulder length and VERY curly and tends to be frizzy. but i also really dont like to use alot of product because i dont like that like, allday wt look. i find my diffuser just makes my curls frizzier.
thanks for doing this though its interesting to see how other people styler their hair!
Hey the videos you did was awsome but it seemed like you really got tired of speaking but heres a better way to like make easier and faster video i think its called windows movie maker its really cool and helps a lot and saves more time well thanks for uploading !!!
in my openion i dont think u have to do all that, but i have naturaly very cury hair so i end up just putting gel through my hair and some anit frizz serum and go to bed, lol. but i guess some ppl need to do more, it look very nice though!
I agree-- but it depends on texture of the curl too. Since having a baby, the texture is different, and I don't always have to do the wetset.. haven't for a while now.. but in high school, gel and anti-frizz didn't do a thing to hold my hair.. it was too "tight" or "strong" of a curl.
yeah, thats why i kept my hair long, it pulled down the curls, b/c my hairs so thick, i recentlly made the mistake of getting it chemicly strigthend, and now its so damaged, i had to cut itand its all damaged, i hate it, wish i had my hair back, lol
so, when you go to sleep, do you tie up your hair or do you just leave it alone and sleep on it? i find that when i sleep on my hair it fuzzes up.. any tips?
Excellent video! Thank you SO much for sharing your expertise! I tried the wet set, and let my hair air dry. The twisting DID hide much of my frizz. I never would have thought of doing that. My hair looked so much better than it usually does. I ordered a diffuser on-line today for my blow dryer. I can't wait to get it, so I can try your technique all the way. Thanks again!!!
At the beginning, when it's still really wet, I have it on the hottest setting, but as it starts to get a little dryer, and lighter-weight, I'll switch between medium and hot for a while, and then towards the end, I actually alternate between cold-shots of air and then going back to either medium or hot. I don't worry about too hot, since after 5 minutes the moisture comes back out, and then I "finish up" on medium.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that whoever told you this was just messing with you. There is risk of shock when water touches a blowdryer, but seeing how the diffuser keeps any moist hair about 3 inches and a solid layer or two of plastic from the blowdryer, there's not a huge risk there. I'll have to look into this-- never heard this-- never been shocked after 11 years of doing my hair this way.
Hi...Um...I loved this video, I think I'm going to try it. But I have a big problem that I have alot of hair, and I don't know how to control it...I tried mousse but it doesn't work for me. I always use a pony tail but I don't like it anymore, I want to change my style...What should I do...?
I would definitely try this. I was only every putting my hair in ponytails before I started doing this. It works great for me when nothing else does-- no other gel, mousse or anything else has worked quite like this-- not even other liquid gels. And the twisting technique gives you a very controlled look
Hi, I have ALOT OF HAIR, and I MEAN A LOT but what i do is put conditioner in the shower, and then, while washing the conditioner off i comb it, then let it get wet after it is detangled, then, i use sunsilk antipuff cream in all my hair with the size of like 3 almonds, lol, then i use a handfull of suave mousse for healthy curls, and crunch it with a towel, then do the same with other 2 handfulls of the mousse, and then just let it airdry, and it looks really cool, hope this helps
Thank you so much for making this video. I'm in love with my new 'do, although I'm still slow at doing it. I modified the hairstyle by straightening chunks in the front and at the edges underneath. Then I finger scrunch the curls to make them less crunchy. Thank you!!
so anyway. i have wavy-ish, frizzy, && flyaway hair =/
its not exactly curly but still wavy & frizzy.
this versa styler thing really does seem great =]]
does it prevent heat damage [like for the blow dryer & other heat products]?
its just that i've tried S0o many products && they look great at first but when i go out in the humid weather or after a while, they start wearing out so im kinda desperate =[
Oh, Versastyler is great in humidity. I actually like it better in humidity. I used to live in a place that averaged about 80% humidity daily, and my hair was so much better than this. And it does actually protect your hair pretty well--the diffuser helps with that too since it's not so much blowing heat directly on your hair.
I've been using NuSkin's Epoch(c) Ava Puhi Moni shampoo and conditioner. It's a great conditioner for curly hair if you want a little more body because it's ultra lightweight, but if you need deeper conditioning, you might not like it. Ran out recently, and I've just been using Herbal Essences.. don't remember which. volumizing maybe?
i would try this, but i dunno if it'll work since my hair is kinda nappy. i mean when i get out the shower its curly and nice but once it dries, its just uhh. so you think this could actually help me?
Definitely.. That sounds like exactly what mine does. Maybe before I post the next video, I'll have to let my hair just air-dry untouched once to show the difference of the "before" vs. "after" of actually styling this way.
I've seen Versastyler at Target, but it's getting more and more difficult to find, so I would suggest trying the "upgraded" version of the product, also from Nexxus. It's call "Omnistyler", and is pretty much guaranteed to be found at any JC Penny salon.
The length of hte hair should only affect how long you need to blow-dry to get the look you want. Mousse, I tend to stay away from because it's difficult to use enough to get proper hold without causing flaking which is a pain. My hair is slightly layered around the face, and barely so in the back. I need a haircut though. I love this style because it hides the "imperfections" of a haircut. :)
When I do my hair like this, showering, doing my hair, make-up, and getting dressed will generally take me about 1 hour (if I'm moving pretty quickly) to 1 and a half hours (if I'm running slowly that day)
Why Don't You Just Save All This Time And Do What My Friends And I Do? Just Put A Whole Load Of Mousse In Your Palms And Then Scrunch It (Using The Same Scrunch Technique She Does?) Then HairSpray It And Scrunch It Again Put Pull Your Hands Up And Out Each Time.
Hope This Helped, I've Had Previously Straightened Hair, Done This And It Looks Like Hers.
I've actually done scrunching with just gel before (heavier) as well as mousse (much lighter), and the problem for me (and probably those with similar texture to my hair), is that it doesn't capture the flyaways, doesn't last as long (I can leave my hair for up to 3 days when I do it like this), and generally gets flaky if I put enough in to actually hold my curls together.
It will depend on your hair texture and how long you blow-dry. IF you stop blow-drying before your hair is pretty dry, the weight of hte moisture will pull it pretty flat, so it'll only look wavy. BUT also, if your hair isn't very curly/wavy, this takes out some of the natural body--it's a bit more "controlling" for those with really curly hair.
Also, I'll be posting another vid soon with the "just scrunching" technique which is more body "enhancing" than controlling, which is better for those whose hair isn't AS curly. I've already shot the vid, but need to edit. Stay tuned. :)
It's a conair, I can't remember the "style", but I think I bought it at Target or Walmart.. it was only about $20.. maybe $25 after tax or somewhere around there.
The diffuser I bought separately.. I think I got it at "Robyn Todd" .. a styling product store. And it was about $15. But I've found similar ones for as low as $5. I don't like the ones with a flat face--- so if you're looking for one, I think the best are the ones that are an actual cup, wiht the little spikes coming up out of it.
thanks for the video.. i have REALLY long thick wavy hair and takes forever to do it but it's worth it.. it doesn't get as frizzy and the curls look tamer.. ya know what I mean? I guess what I wanted to say was thanks :)
Great video. Glad I was able to catch it! I have really long hair so it would take well over an hour for me to do that, but once I cut it I will certainly try thins method! Take care, Leslie
If your hair is really straight, you won't have as much curl in it as I do in the video. You will likely have a little bit of wave, but only as much as is natural. For me, doing the wet-set is a way of "taming" the curl/frizz. I'm doing another video soon non-"wet-set", that works better when your hair is not AS curly. It does a better job of capturing the natural volume/body rather than taming. So hopefully you'll have better luck with that one.
The diffuser doesn't make straight hair curly. All it does is lift the hair as it dries so that the moisture doesn't weigh it down and cause it to dry flat. Part of a "wet-set" is that your hair will stay (once dry) the way it was as it dried, which is why the lift is important. Also, it allows the air to circulate around/through the curls, rather than blowing straight on a single surface.
You could try, but my experience is that mousse isn't strong enough to hold for more than an hour or so. For good hold, you'd at least need some sort of liquid gel (also to avoid flakes). And without a diffuser is poss. if you just scrunch w/ hands while blow-drying, but it won't have as much volume.
How long it lasts depends on how "flexible" you are about the actual state of your hair. ;) I generally go every three days unless I'm feeling particularly picky one of my non-wash days. day 1, wet-set & crisp-ish, day 2, wet-set & soft/looser, day 3: ponytail or pulled back. :) Sometimes I can go longer if each day of day 2+ I spritz it with water all over and scrunch.
okk i tried it, i just slept on the curls & they got flat & looked really bad but i just spritz-ed with water & scrunched like u said & it looks better than it did yesterday!! =D thanks soooo much
Glad the spritzing/scrunching worked. :) It's my life-saver, and the reason I can go 3 days without doing my hair, which I love. I was going to say though, that if you want to do your hair at night, you should definitely give yourself time to finish at least an hour before you lay down. Otherwise, your hair won't be fully dry (even with a second blow-drying), and you'll get the flattened curls.
What setting did you use on your hairdryer? I mean like really hot or? :)

i have realli straight and thick hair
can u tell me how to do thateasily plz
i try vut it dnt get as curly as that

If your hair is really straight, you won't have as much curl in it as I do in the video. You will likely have a little bit of wave, but only as much as is natural. For me, doing the wet-set is a way of "taming" the curl/frizz. I'm doing another video soon non-"wet-set", that works better when your hair is not AS curly. It does a better job of capturing the natural volume/body rather than taming. So hopefully you'll have better luck with that one.

Wow, that hairstyle looks very good on you. I love girls with dark/brown curly hair with the wet-like effect

will the diffuser make your hair curly if you have straight hair?
summerloveee 4 years ago
The diffuser doesn't make straight hair curly. All it does is lift the hair as it dries so that the moisture doesn't weigh it down and cause it to dry flat. Part of a "wet-set" is that your hair will stay (once dry) the way it was as it dried, which is why the lift is important. Also, it allows the air to circulate around/through the curls, rather than blowing straight on a single surface.

Hey, Is it possible to do this hairstyle with moose??
And without a diffuser?
kaanla1 4 years ago
You could try, but my experience is that mousse isn't strong enough to hold for more than an hour or so. For good hold, you'd at least need some sort of liquid gel (also to avoid flakes). And without a diffuser is poss. if you just scrunch w/ hands while blow-drying, but it won't have as much volume.

how often do u have to wetset? do u have to do it every day, or do u have a tip on how to make it last for a few days? thx! =DDD
cdm0014 4 years ago

Does your hair feel crispy because I hate that feeling when i use certain products? What setting did you have your blow dryer on?

If you get some layers - they would help the curls get into shape too!
