  • I saw them on this tour,Cardiff Workers club, NSW.They were excellent,Tucker is one of the best drummers i've seen.

  • Fantastic band. I wish they had been able to sort it out. They were a complete rock group and would have been one of the biggest bands in history if they had I think.

  • awesome band,awesome songs.

  • absolutly great band!

Mick Tucker is very great drummer on the world.

    and good man,R.I.P.

  • the dog who attacked brian -the sweets nucleus if i can use the word nucleus like another poster mentioned earlier, was a low life ,who should have his vocal cords clawed out of his throat. not only had it damaged brians voice but his soul ie the drugs.im gonna stop right now. there will never be another sweet.never .eva:-((((((

  • God they were wonderful.

  • Mick is gorgeous, i am so sad that he is gone. I was reading info about him tonight, and didn't know that he had passed in 2002 as i don't watch news much. Such a talented drummer too. R.I.P Mick, your fan always xxx

  • i love my uncle Mick Tucker <3<3

  • @GeorginaW309 Hi Georgina. Its true to say that your uncle was a brilliant musician and is still loved by many people all over the world. I saw him play live three times and he was fantastic.

  • Re: Brian ( R I P) - Whenever your name is mentioned in the same sentence as Keith Moon's, it's never a good thing!

  • Well, I love Brian but I do like Cut Above the Rest, Dorian Grey, Falling in Love from Water's Edge (Sweet VI here), Identity Crisis. It's sad, Brian was the best singer and best looking guy in rock.

  • simply one of the best rock bands to ever exist...

I am just finding this out

I am extremely happy to know there are at least 30 songs Ive never heard....

seeing that music is extinct I consider this pure 24karat gold

  • the singer is the focal point of the band - they never replaced Brian with anybody anywhere near him. Can't knock 'em for keeping on going though, respect for that.

  • still not in hall of fame? madonna ahead of these guys? awesome band forever

  • "It was nothing personal" *lying face*

  • Rock's most underrated band - they influenced so many, in particular, Queen, and later The Darkness. If you can get a hold of the first lineup Live - amazing! All virtuoso players. Different members now but still fantastic. Mick Tucker RIP

  • i heart mick tucker

  • I heart Mick Tucker too. :)

  • No offence taken, look i wasn't saying that they were better without Brian because they weren't, but people shouldnt just dismiss those albums without him, they are all good, even Identity Crisis is good, it's pure rock, back to the old style.

  • I dont want to blame Andy or anything but yeah :\

I think if Brian didn't drink it would have been ok. The whole band have said they loved Brian but he was showing up drink and stuff at the studio :\ But you can't have Sweet without Brian.

    Such a shame, what a waste :\

Brian Connolly, what a man, what a legend.

I love all of them they're such amasing guys and all the stuff they did for the band fitted in really good.

    Amasing Band.

  • Whos says you cant have Sweet without Brian? you ass, have you heard the albums they did without him? especially Waters Edge? very good albums

  • Colemann, no offence but you are not the generation of the 70's when we - the real Sweet fans get into their music with Brian and did follow them from beginning to the very end. You were not even born. So, no wonder that your taste is that sound of the 80's. I have all albums and the best ones are those with Brian, as he was the nucleus of the band with his remarkable rock voice. When he's gone they had to change the sound as they could not sing the way Brian did!

  • Anyway sorry, i take that back, youre not an ass at all, i love your taste in music though

  • So true. If Brian had kept his head and health together they would have probably maintained the same lineup up until Mick died.

Sadly, it was not to be.

The reality was Brian just wasn't up to it anymore (although they don't say so here). When he was younger and in good health there was no singer/frontman who could touch him.

  • @6PBP6 Brian was attacked by thugs in 1974 ( when the band were recording the Sweet Fanny Adams LP ) and they kicked and damaged permanently his voicebox . From then on his voice was on a downward spiral which is why he turned to drink and pills . His failing voice was to him like a guitarist losing an arm. Sadly he died of liver cancer in 1992 .

  • @leonaofficial

Yes I know about the attack although he still had a good singing voice until around 1978/1979 when he left the band. I think ultimately, the drink and drugs was what brought him down. It was February 1997 when he died, maybe the 1992 was a typo or you were thinking of Mick (2002) ? Whatever his decline was very sad and at his best, there was no one who could touch him.

  • @leonaofficial Correction: Brian died in 1997. But it was tragic as to his slow downfall. As Neil Young once sang: Better to burn out than to fade away.

  • @leonaofficial Was it liver failure or liver cancer? If it was liver cancer was he treated for it? I could never understand the dramatic weight loss...

  • This interviewer didn't have it together...i heard him mention both tunes...doh!

  • My God this takes me back. Donny Sutherland on Sounds - great Saturday morning TV

  • I know Andy forced Brians departure, the band setting up an album out of Brians range was a disgrace, sheer sabotage.

  • i have seen Sweet at the Pinokios Club in Perth W.A.

They were briliant !!Mick on drums was so fast.

    Great band.

  • Its so easy to look behind the scene. Brian left the band because Andy forced it.Not personal ? Laughable.Sure Brian was a hard time drunk, everybody knows that. But why ?

Mabe he couldn´t stand the permanent pressure. The Sweet were off since Brian left.Hehad given the Band spirit.

    Sorry Andy,take it.

R.I.P. Brian, you sad and tragic hero of Rock´n´Roll...

  • Exactly! I just never understood Mick's attitude in all this. Brian and Mick were the best friends since ever. They were together in Wainwright Gentlemen's and did form The Sweet later on, struggling too long for the success. And both of them passed away too early. R.I.P. Brian & Mick.

  • WOW-how did I miss this? hakkman you never fail to please. Excellent rare interview, and thanks sooooo much! Mick looks wonderful here! Merry Christmas me!!! :)

  • Thanks for this!

More disclosure about Brian's departure in 1979! Donnie didn't ask if Brian left the band cause of personal reasons but they both confirmed in the answers - denying it, quite noticeably!

Oh, Andy (your tongh is fighting with your mind) - record companies are not responsible for sunk of The Sweet trio but the missing link and the nucleus of the band - Brian!
