It's the only way to get all the rules of MMA more properly organized. There are fighters that use powders and chemicals to make them slippery in fights. And when it comes to an MMA fight with grappling, wrestling, jui jitsu etc. - it makes a HUGE difference.

GSP may have dominated BJ on the feet, but there were many grappling moments where BJ was going for some moves and he slipped off, and that makes a big difference.

Even in the last fight against BJ Penn you can see Penns legs keep slipping off with ease. At some point, all this cannot be dismissed and the probability of intentional cheating goes up considerably.

Absolutely it is not legal. That is not in dispute (least it should not be). What many are contesting is whether or not this made a difference in a fight where GSP clearly dominated. My thoughts are that to a fighter like BJ Penn - who guard is critical to his fighting style - the application of vaseline renders it ineffective. I think we all knew that GSP was bigger, stronger, but that BJ could have a chance IF he got GSP in a hold etc - the vaseline greatly diminished the chance of this.
