I've looked at your yoism website. The problem that I have with it is that it is obsessively focused on Christianity, and yet it conspicuously leaves out Judaism. I've been reading a lot of history on Judaism and quite frankly, it's an abusive religion, and it begins with the worst sexual assault imaginable--circumcision.  Let's see you attack that religion just like you attack other religions.

i never knew if he was just agnostic or atheist but i just read quotes from him that support him being atheist. i love this man. he was a citizen of the world and a great humanist. he really knew what it was that all humans needed. his movies prove that. classic, tragic, funny, and moving. this man was brilliant and one of my biggest inspirations today.

Actually he says NATIONAL BARRIERS. Many coutries including the USA get ivolved in other places in the world only when their own interest is on the line. For example we did not stop the genocied in Ruwanda, there was no oil among other things. But when there are no barriers or bounderies, then we care about all humans in the world. Like a family that help its members to be happy, healthy and prosperous. "It is not his to boast who loveth his country, but it is his who loveth the world."

Chaplain was one of the first in the entertainment industry to scream out in opposition to Hitler's Germany. But not even Chaplain could have imagined the horrors that Nazism would unleash upon the world not long after this movie came out.

It is KNOWN that Jesse Owens, the black athlete who defeated all Aryan athletes in the 1933 olympics - caused Hitler to leave early, so as not to have to shake Owens' hand. I KNOW this was a major blow to Hitler's confidence,thank God!

Who knows how WORSE it could have been otherwise.

Owens was deeply religious - he KNEW what he was running for. God bless him!

That's untrue about Owens, also untrue that Hitler snubbed him. Hitler only wanted to greet German winners but was told he would have to greet all or none, so he chose none. In fact, when Owens went back to America, he was snubbed and told the press that Hitler didn't snub him, but America, where segregation was still common, did.

I saw the documentary about Owens.

I saw Hitler's face when he saw Owens defeating the blond "Aryan" athletes.

It said it all.

As to Owens returning to segregated America, yes - U.S. segregation was shameful. But it was far better than Nazi death camps. And Owens knew full well what Hitler planned for black people as well...

How naive are you. You saw the documentary and saw his face. Ever heard of editing? Do you think with technology the way it was in 1936, there would have been a constant camera on Hitler to film his reaction. What an idiot! Documentaries are put together from any bit of film available. There was no live TV coverage. The film of him "reacting" is just as likely to be him reacting to news of his dinner menu as to Owens winning.

just to educate you a little bit, this film was made while Chaplin was forced into exile by the American government, because of trumped up "statutory rape" charges and the McCarthy era, investigation into "Un-American Activities". The making of this film is just as much a condemnation of the Committee on Un-American Activities as it was of the Third Reich...BTW..Chaplin never took American citizenship...he was born British and died British...so NOT AMERICAN PROPAGANDA

The speech is actually called "Look up Hannah" and the end is so vital to the optimism and message, imo. Most youtube clips of this speech leave it out. "The soul of man has been given wings, and at last he is begining to fly"
