  • thanks for the tips. I chickened out and made my White's water resistant instead. Thanks again for your inspirational video. I tested it out in 1 foot of water, on both white and black sand. No luck. Head was too bouyant and I guess I couldn't ground balance w/ a PI detector, even after adjusting knobs. Live and learn. Now, it's a all weather land detector. Thanks!

  • When converting, go with at least a 4' earphone cord, also you will need some sort of strap around the cuff, because the control housing has a very slight bouyancy.

  • Got a White's Classic SL from a pawnshop last Christmas. I just started metal detecting here in Hawaii. I was disappointed in myself for not doing alot of research, because I think most of the juicy finds are in the water. Just yesterday, I was thinking of upgrading to a Garrett Sea Hunter MKII ($600+)-PI type. I really want, but can't afford the Minelab Excalibur II ($1,400), with it's 17 very low frequencies. Ur vid really got me thinking. Now I have another option. Thanks. Gr8

    Vid.

There are alot more finds in the water, but if you want maximum finds on land at the beach, set the discrimination on your Whites's Classic SL to 9;00 oclock (two notches below ring setting), and you'll find gold chains and smaller gold pieces, the Classics are quite good detectors for out of the water.

  • Best instructions I have ever seen on youtube.I would never have guessed how to make waterproof earphones. Thanks so much for sharing.
