  • Ehahaha He was reading on his hands 00:47 xD

  • hes just trolling

  • 0:51 guy smirks haha

  • greatest ending.....ever. period.

  • Hey, that huge ass echo would mess anyone up!

  • I actually thought he was pretty good. Might have helped if he had studied the lines a little better though.

  • At first I was like yay then boo then yay again

  • Now back to the good part! This is the tale...

  • that has to be one of the most unique and impressive endings of this song that has ever been done. When He sings "And the home, of the...Brave" On brave, he's actually hitting a high D, which is a whole 2 octaves above middle C. You don't need the lyrics if you can sing like that.

  • From a vocal standpoint ONLY, it was an excellent rendition. No one's perfect...he forgot one little line. The sound effects aren't his fault. Try ignoring the echo and only listen to the louder part that's coming over the speakers. It was a great performance.

  • HE ROCKED T BESIDES THE SHITTY EFFECT and obviously no one no one knows alll the words

  • If you overlook the forgetting of the lyrics, that was actually a hell of a performance.

  • Wonderfull!

  • Fuck the National Anthem. Jack Sparrow rapes that song up it's ass.

  • So what he took a pause, its more like "michael bolton rocks the american anthem"

  • A lot of americans seem to do this

  • The Soldier smiled when Michael Bolton looked at the note :D

  • woah this guy sucks

  • Your all idiots

  • i thought it was funny that he looked on his finger goes to show that were not all perfect

  • lol at :51, the color gaurd guy behind him couldnt keep a straight face

  • it wasn't as bad as most National anthem butchering; he only had to pause a bit to remember a line, where most forget and leave out a whole line or two.

  • Looks like he was joking, anyhow he won the crowd back over - man, what a voice!

  • lolol its bad that he forgot the words, but its even worse that his fellow countrymen BOO'D HIM. thats more disrespect than forgetting....booing when honoring the country.

  • even though he's a huge retard for forgetting our national anthem, he did pull it off well, and NEVER sounded bad.

  • @Jafeya Really? Incase you didn't know, there are speakers all over the stadium that are different distances from the camera that is filming. The sound will reach the camera at different times creating the echo effect. Also the camera isn't that close to one of said speakers so, since the speed of sound is much slower then the speed of light there is a delay of what you are seeing and what you are hearing. So there is no fiendish design by a sound engineer but I imagine it would still be hard t

  • Looks like it might have been a joke.

  • to my ear it sounds like a weird delay effect was put on his mic by a sound engineer of the stadium, any performer would sound the same with delay effects.

  • Who cares if he made a mistake, It's just an anthem - Get over it.

He still owns all of you wannabe singers.

  • Sick!! And he's paid millions of dollars...........next time call Whitney Houston!

  • But not Jack Sparrow

  • i was like, finger gun at the mic? and then it hit me...

  • Get off his jock. Even famous singers get nervous at times

  • What a voice. Amazing!!!

  • Best part, he looks at his hand for the next line, smiles, and continues on. There's a performer for yah ladies and gents.

  • Oh no, this must be the end of the world. Someone did a mistake. Oh my lord we are all doomed. Or not. Get real, this is no big deal.

    JACK SPARROW!

  • At least he didnt leave like that woman who sang during a hokey game

  • the marine behind him tried not to laugh

  • It is an islut to start on the national anthem and not finish it. He did the right thing, Too bad there was echo trouble - he is a great singer.

  • haha... the star spangled banner doesn't deserve to be sung by the great michael bolton anyways haha

  • My god, seriously, he couldn't ever heard himself normally... Did ya heard the echo? I would I have so much problem at is place

  • He was too busy watching Pirates of the Caribbean.

  • Comment removed

  • MICHAEL BOLTON WE'RE REALLY GONNA NEED YOU TO FOCUS UP

  • Chill USA. Why do that audiene have to be so goddamn over-the-top patriotic?

  • Rofl...not even bad. Who gives a fuck....christ people are bored. All the kids in their mom's basement need something to mock to feel better.

  • he recovered well

  • @teecoop2455 it's Michael Bolton you gotta love his songs except Jack Sparrow because he wanted his fame back which i think personally his older stuff is better

  • o'er the ramparts ....sexual chocolate!!!

  • lol

  • see the guy in the back smile when he screws up haha!

  • It wasn't even that bad

    jeez people haha

  • Well at least it was only a little pause.. He still did well.. Some people forget the hole thing lol

  • 00:53 xD Solider in back cracks a smile

  • there's nothing I could say except amazing!

  • Michael Bolton comes from a time when someone had to be able to sing, in order to become a singer...

  • idk i thought he did prety good even though he forgot 1 lil part fk ik id never be able to do what he did xD

  • who cares ive seen worse at least he got the words right unlike someone else

  • If you are on e of the critiques here, why don't you go sing in front of thousands of people - with a 1-second delay on your microphone and 4 armed guards behind you... and don't screw it up.

  • Other then that pause, the anthem was sung awesomely. And some people shouldn't talk, some of you don't even know the whole anthem and/or can't even sing it as well Michael Bolton did, so you need to shut up!

  • @SweetiePie308 *sang

  • omg.. people who gave this a thumbs down are just restarted. he's a freakin human! we all make mistakes..

  • I think he did AMAZING. All you people saying he sucks? How about you go out onto a stadium and do the national anthem and see if you can hit every single note without your voice cracking. I'm a singer myself. We all make mistakes. So if you can do it better? Keep running your mouth

  • i liked how he had his mistake written on his hand XD

  • @quicklistream hahahahhahahahahaa i know!!!!!! :D

  • Hes a legendary professional. He should have known every word. Oh well. :)

  • I see no fail, only winning..

  • He may have went a bit blank one little verse (I'm sure his nerves got to him. Who knows.) but he still sang the HELL out of that song. I think he totally redeemed himself. Don't think that was a "fail" at all. He f*&king killed it!

  • He made up for his small mistake by doing Jack Sparrow with the lonely island

  • The guard.. THE GUARD! HAHAHAHAHA

  • thumbs up if tosh o brought you here.

  • hahaha wow sad

  • Wouldn't call it a screw up, but a great rendition. He had a pause rather than sing the wrong words, singing in front of so many. leave him alone he has the voice!

  • He is fucking amazing!

  • He knew the line he was jocking around it maid alot of people watch the vido

  • Shit...shit...shit... whats the next line........... "NOW BACK TO THE GOOD PART"

  • Well shit, that sux for him

  • God, hella fail!

  • Don`t screw up yourself, babe

  • o God

  • IDK y everyone's giving him a hard time. Jay Leno did a whole segment of Jay Walking on people who can't remember the words to the national anthem. Just cause Michael Bolton is famous doesn't mean he's got a better memory than everyone else.

  • omg, i just watched this video to see michael bolton check his hand and then watch the soldier make the 'yes he just did that' face. xDDD OMG MICHAEL BOLTON, you're awesome.

  • Color guard broke bearing.

  • I don't understand what everyone gets so upset for. He is an amazing singer, and under that kind of pressure its easy to get caught up and forget something. It happens all the time. Hell, I don't know the stupid anthem, and I don't really care for it.

  • Have you ever been expected to sing in front of millions people? I think not. He is amazing. Give him a little credit and grow up.

  • BIggest fail of all is the Navy guy's inability to maintain his bearing at attention. What if he was in the heat of battle? Smiling gets America killed.

  • ...that was kind of weird, but we're back in the club

  • @gatoradesux1 Comment's been used already, find another. ;]

  • i added this video to my favorites, not cause he screwd up the anthem and i could watch it later and giggle about it, but because he just murdered the last note of the anthem!!!

    And that was GEREAT

  • He is only human!!! We all mess up :)

  • Poor guy

  • His voice equals out the part he messed up so it's all good

  • Bad sound system for sure, when you hear you 1 sec later, that's hard to concentrate...

  • accept d fact that we're all human.......

  • lol he messes up then tries really hard after so nobody would hate him

  • Michael Bolton we're really gonna need you to focus up

  • @Ressdude94 roger that let me try it with another song ;)

  • @victor1az IM ON A BOAT. TAKE A GOOD LONG LOOK AT THE MOTHER FUCKING BOAT!

  • That mistake was pretty embarrassing but he made a fantastic recovery and won the crowd back.

watch?v=Ga_reU5lasQ Young Bolton singing hard rock, check it out!

  • *cringe*

  • thats because they need him to focus up because he is busy thinking about movies, Michael bolton is a major ciniphile

  • Whoops!!!

  • that has to be very embarrassing

  • His eyes show a very tired man... give the guy a break...I dare anyone to sing in front of so many!

  • I think they were booing at first when they saw him forget and cheat... It was a decent recovery however...

  • hahahahahah love itt

  • Still played it off only he can do that....lol seen the guy behind him grin

  • Dude he's got some of the best pipes! Legend!

  • that echo would put me off too

  • Lol!!!!!! *sings ... Forgets..... Looks at the card in his hand.. Starts singing again.. The dude behind him laugh's ...the crowd goes wild.... Lol I love him!!!

  • Give him a break...Is he even American. If so, can we make trade? Him and Kenny G for Wayne Gretzky? Think it over Canada...Oh Canada

  • that guy behind him with the flag wants to laugh so badly haha

  • what do you mean he screwed up? he forgot the lyrics and quickly came back and won the audience with awesomeness.

  • @Periculo8910 Damn! this just shows you how people will cheer over damn near anything! Michael Bolton is awful.

  • @kurtdublin Shame he is fantastic.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos To your ears, not mine. Michael Bolton is not my idea of a good singer, or for that matter, not even a fair singer, but if he's you cup of tea, drink up.

  • @kurtdublin Yes, subjectively. Technically, Bolton is an excellent vocalist. You can dislike him as much as you want to but you can't deny his technical abilities. I also love his singing in general really much but that is subjective.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Well if thats your taste, i cannot nor will i argue your taste. to me he is far from a great singer. what abilities? i never knew he had those qualities.

  • @kurtdublin Do you know what technical ability means? For example, one may dislike Chris Impelliterri's guitar playing for being too obnoxious. That is a subjective opinion. Saying that he has no skills though is an ENTIRELY different thing: Impelliterri obviously is technically skilled and opinions won't change this fact. Same is with Bolton: you don't have to like his voice but technically his voice is fantastic. He always stays on pitch, has extremely powerful and resonant voice and CAN sing.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos I have 2 functioning ears, that is all that is needed to clearly understand that M.Bolton, have no skills when it comes to singing. He is bad no matter how you color or arrange him. No, nothing will change the fact that in todays world, practically anything is passed off as TALENT. M.Bolton is just a recipient of this sad trend. Personally, i can't blame him for cashing in on this lark. W.Nelson,O,Redding have voices not suited for singing, but they can sing, Bolton cannot.

  • @kurtdublin HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH... AHAHAH... HA...

-Owait, you were actually serious! Oh god, you silly little douchebag.

Do you get sexual excitement for trolling Bolton's videos? He is technically an incredible singer and one random chap from Youtube with no uploaded videos won't change that fact. You don't even seem to know anything about vocals. I'm not saying he is a master when it comes to songwriting but vocally he is excellent.

  • @kurtdublin Vocals =/= Songs

If you don't like his songs, that is okay, you don't have to like his voice either. Knowing that he is technically skilled is completely different thing though and plausible enough. Bolton has extremely good vocal talent, and he'd do justice in a proper rock band with better songwriting. He has almost perfect live pitch, power, resonance and all needed to be a good singer. You have no idea about these things, I can notice that.

  • @kurtdublin Your arguements are solely based on Bolton's music itself, not vocals. You can't prove why he can't sing, simply because you don't know what is required to be actually a good singer. W. Nelson and O. Redding were great singers too, in more unique way, whereas Bolton is technically an incredible singer, like him or not. With these arguements you won't prove me wrong, you just showcase your own ignorance when it comes to vocals. Again, musical content =/= Vocals

  • @GoodGuitarSolos My argument is based on the fact that Bolton cannot sing. Nor can he use his tone deaf yelling in a talented manner. Redding and Nelson are good singer, but because they have the skills to use their otherwise unsuitable voices in a very commanding manner, they have become masters in their chosen fields of music. Michael Bolton is a rip-off artist. But, in todays market, mediocrity is hailed as greatness, Anit ole michael lucky to be born in this era.

  • Comment removed

  • @kurtdublin Also, your "functioning ears" wouldn't notice talent even if it was brought up to you. Isn't it funny how Bolton sounds exactly like Springsteen and Joe Cocker in certain songs, yet you say that Springsteen can sing and Bolton can't. You are yet another random Youtube weirdo who has nothing better to do than diss artists who have actually got far with their vocal/instrumental skills, even if by ripping off other artists. Get a dayjob.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos I will have you know, I have seen some of the greatest singers of the last century! From all that Motown had to offer right through Dick Clark's calvacade of stars! I find it very strange that someone like Michael Bolton, could go so far with so little. Its like driving a car from New York to California and back, on a single tank of gas. As bad as Rappers lift from real artist, Michael Bolton is even worst.

  • @kurtdublin Oh, now I get it, you are another nostalgic chap stuck in the past.

"Today's market bla bla bla" - What many don't get that today's music is pretty good. Mainstream music is generally more mediocre than it used to be but there are TONS of amazing artists playing different styles of music. This generation is great.

Yes, all great names, though I'd call most of your names 'incredible', not just 'great'. Bolton is a great vocalist for his damn amazing vocal skills, not for his music.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Yes i am from the past, but i'm not stuck there. You must admit that much of todays music (if you can call it that) leaves much to be desired. I don't know what it is about Michael Bolton, but you really are in his corner, MY LORD! hehehe...What has happened now days, mediocrity has been elevated to greatness. But please tell me who are these TONS of amazing artist playing different styles of music?

  • @kurtdublin I'm not a fan of Bolton's songs but rather his vocals. Without his voice I probably wouldn't even like his music but his voice is just that good to my ears.

Like I said, mainstream music is more mediocre nowadays but there are lots of great bands out there to be found. I don't know if you like metal or not but there are tons of great metal bands ranging from Porcupine Tree and Opeth to Protest the Hero and all that.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos No i'm not into heavy metal, i find it too angry, much like Rap.

  • @kurtdublin Each to their own.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Yes it reAlly comes down to personal taste. I do find Duffy and Adele to be throwbacks to the days of Dusty Springfield and Leslie Gore.

  • @kurtdublin There are great pop artists to be found, Cee-Lo Green being one great example. Really popular bands like Muse are making great music too.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos MUSE! LMAO! do you know that Muse is also a medication for erectile dysfunction. I'll have to listen to some of those names you bandied about. I wasn't a hardcore fan of Ella Fitzgerald or Sinatra, but their voices are just incredible. Carmen McRae, Nina Simone are more on my level. Of course, everyone loves Aretha Franklin. I certainly do.

  • @kurtdublin Muse used to be fantastic, especially around Absolution, really unique band. Whatever though, I'm not up to argue about them for another two pages.

I personally love Adele and Duffy but they indeed show lots of influence from those older vocalists.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos I'm not arguing either, truthfully, I've never heard of a Band called Muse. I just found it funny to have a named after E/D medication. I'm really not into bands. I think Duffy sings a song called "alone" or something like that, and she really gives a heartfelt performance singing that song. Amy winegartrn or whatever her name was, u know the 1 that died recently, she was good. But i despise Beyonce & Mary J.Blige, both are fake singers.

  • @kurtdublin Amy Winehouse, yes, she was great. Same with Duffy, really good voice and music.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Thanks alot! for turning me on to Cee Lo Green, he is damn Good! I have got to get theat "I Want You" he's kinda Mptownish, but more updated. Muse, seems to be a fusion of Peter Frampton,Kiss,Journey,,,,and they surely borrowed alot from the Legendary Alice Cooper. But overall, i could listen to them. You see, i'm not trapped in a time bubble after all. So turn me on to some more good sounds, but please NO! Michael Bolton. :>)

  • @kurtdublin Heh, as much as I love Bolton, it is better to keep his music separated from you, haha!

Nice to hear you digging Cee Lo, that man has definitely a Motown-like wibe in his voice and music. And yes, Muse are kind of a hybrid of different groups, really unique style.

Do you know the legendary singer Jackie Wilson? I usually dislike American Idol and The X Factor REALLY much but a singer called Marcus Collins made a fantastic cover of "Reet Petite" a short time ago.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Believe it or not, Jackie Wilson was a personal friend of mine, as was the great Sam Cooke. But, i will say, that Bolton does have a very powerful voice, maybe thats what have you mesmerized with him. Have u ever listen to an artist Named Taj Mahal? he does some good cover versions of the Fabulous Otis Redding.but now let me listen to Marcus Collins

  • @kurtdublin

Yes, Bolton's power is definitely one of the factors that made me like him a lot. I personally preferred him as a blues-singer (from the early days) and as a rock singer too, his soul stuff wasn't that interesting musically to me.

Is that actually true? Wilson was one of the most incredible voices of all time. Sam Cooke was really amazing too! What were they like?

I'll check out more by Taj Mahal immeaditely, this cover is damn good!

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Jackie was very nice, and very approachable, i would see him mainly in New York at the Apollo Theatre during the 50's & 60's. He was always so welled groomed. Now, Sam, that was my boy. We got down good and dirty with that party boy! he was really a blast. Marcus Collins has talent, but you have to be careful when taking on singers Like Jackie Wilson. Remember Jackie was a soaring tenor, that could have easily triumphed singing OPERA! Marcus is not on that level.

  • @kurtdublin Interesting to hear that, it must be really interesting to know that you've been in touch with two legends of singing. Both of them sound like such nice guys.

I agree about Collins, talented chap. Wilson's songs are really tricky vocally (especially "Nobody but You" and "Danny Boy"), not the easiest choices to sing.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Aloe Blacc, is very much like the late Arthur Conley. Bruno Mars, is very entertaining, i like him alot, You are spot on about Danny Boy, that is a very difficult song to sing, its ranks right up there with "you"ll Never Walk Alone" the soaring parts of those songs require a very gifted vocalist.

  • @kurtdublin Nice to hear that! I'm always happy to see people find new artists they like.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos And to think it all started over the talent (or lack of) of all people, Michael Bolton. I grew up in a family of DJs from the 50s and 60s, so we were always meeting and getting to hang out with the big names of that ERA. At one time or another, practically every big name in R&B or Gospel ate my mothers table or just sit and had a few drinks.....Man, it was really a good time back then. But thanks for up dating me on some of the younger blokes that are really good.

  • @kurtdublin No worries, peace!

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Are you from the states or The UK?

  • @kurtdublin Actually from Finland, haha!

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Wow! thats a place i always wanted to visit. I can't thank you enough, i got my first Cee Lo Green cd this week end, i've been having a blast ever since, Cee Lo is very very good. If you know of any other artist like him, please trun me on.

  • @kurtdublin Awesome to hear that, I'm glad to see Cee Lo got a new fan!

  • John Legend, IMO, is more of a stylist than singer. he kinda grows on you. He reminds me of a Male Nina Simone.

  • @kurtdublin Then there is the huge popular music name called Bruno Mars but I don't know what you'd think about him. He has a really good voice, really similar to Michael Jackson in the vocal department, but his songs are kind of sugary and all that. He definitely has performing skills though, lots of charistma.

If you want Motown-like modern singers, check out Aloe Blacc and John Legend.

  • @kurtdublin You still don't understand my point. You are solely basing ALL your arguements on the single damn factor: "Michael being a rip-off" - What you don't seem to realize that we are NOT talking about his music but about his vocal talent. I don't know where you are getting this "tone deaf yelling", his vocals are extremely controlled, powerful and technically excellent in every sense. He can sing. He can. He can. Okay? You are just making yourself look like a fool here.

  • @kurtdublin Once again, I DO acknowledge that many of his most popular tracks are covers. So? Elvis did tons of covers and also sang songs that weren't written by himself, was he a rip-off too? Hell no. He was certainly more influental but the point still stands. Even Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple ripped off music by other artists, just pretending to have created those tracks by themselves.

Also, Bolton is lightyears ahead of Pat Boone in singing, just to inform you.

  • @kurtdublin Bolton is an incredible singer, case closed. What a voice, don't you agree, man?

So, let's discuss other singers: what do you think about Edwin Starr? How about Rance Allen? Great singers.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Edwin Starr,,,hmmmmm. he's okay, but i really don't find him that memorable. Rance Allen, not my style or taste at all. Rance Allen i believe is a new style gospel singer? or sort. hmmmm....not really into that either...Tell me what do U think about Ella Fitzgerald or Sinatra.

  • @kurtdublin Allen used to be a soul singer but yes, he turned into a gospel singer (not fond of his newer music).

Ella Fitzgerald was amazing, such an influental singer with an unique voice. She had really great instrument in his voice.

Sinatra was more of an inventor and an influental figure (not my personal favourite singer), but he was still pretty talented. He crafted some great vocal performances and knew how to use his voice really well.

  • @kurtdublin What I'm trying to say is that you don't have to like Bolton, you just need to understand that he is really skilled, no matter how much you may dislike him. Same would be with Adam Lambert: even the most avid dislikers know that the guy knows how to sing extremely well with incredible performances, no matter how much they dislike his voice.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos I hate the way he butchered R&B classics from the 60s. I dont hate or like him, its his poor attempts and how he exploited everything from Heavy Metal to Southern Rock looking for a NE$T. The Isley Bros. sucessfully sued him for ripping off their work. I like a true artist, not a fake. Bruce Springteen, has a gravel growl, but he can sing, Bolton, is not the heir apparent to anything but Todays Pat Boone.

  • @kurtdublin Southern rock? He has never attempted southern rock, you geezer. He has attempted standard rock music with Blackjack but his music is far from "southern rock". L2 recognize subgenres if you want to note them in your comments.

What the fuck does gravel growl have to do with singing? Springsteen and Bolton have really similar voices, dissing one is just dissing another, you hayhead.

Stop hating, assholes and lonely queers waste their time on hating music and artists.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos I am neither lonely or queer, but a few have called me an asshole. Well you can't win them all. I hate to inform you, but, your idol MB, did try his hand at southern rock and even heavy metal. I know this to be true, because i am in the Music Business. And yes he was a total failure, until he found his way by stealing and butchering R&B classics. The Boss, is the real deal, and Michael Bolton, is todays Pat Boone. The hate is your hatred for the TRUE. In fact U can't handle it.

  • @kurtdublin Well, that is a good thing. I don't know what you are like in real life but here you give an extremely elitistic and assholish impression of yourself, to be honest.

Nope, he never tried southern rock. He did attempt heavy metal but that was a really brief stint during his career.

What the fuck does being in a music business affect your comments? Even if you were the biggest boss in the music business wouldn't make your silly comments any more readable. Stop pretending to be a god.

  • @kurtdublin Springsteen is amazing (song-wise much better than Bolton), so is Bolton when it comes to singing. I don't care much for Bolton's tunes but him and Springsteen have technically almost exactly the same voices, Bolton is just more skilled with it, I hate to inform you.

I can agree that he is today's Pat Boone, his voice still rocks, no matter what you say.

Hatred is still for idiotic assholes like you. Stop with the elitism and go listen to your favourite artists, hating is idiotic.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos allow me to school you, Frank Sinatra, a great vocalist, Aretha Franklin, A great vocalist, Mahalia Jackson, A great vocalist, Ella Fitzgerald, A great vocalist.Judy Garland, A great Vocalist. Why anyone would catagorize M.Bolton as a great vocalist, will forever remain a mystery to me. Why is it, that when anyone see's M.Bolton for the rip-off he is, we are attacked as being hateful or elitist?

  • to me that microphone kinda sounded really fucked up, not him,

  • it was the echo of microphone that made his voice bad but he's voice stil superb.

  • he was just not in good mood at that moment....

  • I love that when he had to look at his notes the crowd began to turn on him but he won them back by singing like a fucking boss.

  • Now this is the Tale Of Captain Jack Sparrow

  • I think he sounded good enough to overlook his slip-up.

  • Aww come awwn ive seen much worst....he could have just been...you know...taking a breather
