@SandboxDemocracy I totally disagree, man. They made two albums with the sound of Hybrid Theory and it got old. Not because there's anything wrong with HT, but because it starts to become really apparent when you're RECYCLING music just because the fans like it. Nickelback anyone? Linkin Park had the balls to expand, make new kinds of music, and also had the brains to make it contemporary. That isn't 'mainstream'. They sound less mainstream now than they did in 2000.

@taicleis .... Mainstream.... They were different than anything out back then if anything they were the blue print for how these now mainstream bands made their music since then. They found that balance between Rock/hiphop rhymes. They were and are still the best at it. If anything they went more mainstream than ever before. Their just living off their past reputation with fans supporting them hoping that one day that the old LP will return.

Linkin Park didn't change just for mainstream attention. They already HAD mainstream attention, and their wallets weren't shrinking. they got bored (and rightfully so) of rehashing Hybrid Theory over and over again. Apparently, doing anything other than the same stuff over and over again is "selling out".

@Wooozzy I was one of the biggest fans ever back in the day IMO, anyways i agree w/u 1000% about them changin. The only new song that i like by them is Given Up but then too i still gotta be in the mood to really listen to that song. I just chill out with my old LP albums.

@Lyriks64 Don't be in denial, you know it's the truth. any real LP fan from 2k-2k3 would know their style has evolved to... well, shit in my opinion. I do like Wretches and Kings off the new album but hell, they didn't even play that at the last show I went to in March. LAME. The show contained none of the energy and excitement that they used to put out into their shows back then. They're just getting older, that's all, times change, people change. The true LP is done. RIP.

@Wooozzy I was one of the biggest fans ever back in the day IMO, anyways i agree w/u 1000% about them changin. The only new song that i like by them is Given Up but then too i still gotta be in the mood to really listen to that song. I just chill out with my old LP albums.

@FantuckinabulouS I agree though consider this as well... Look,we all want the old LP back myself included but at least respect them for having the balls to write whatever they want and to evolve as a band,and not have 4 albums that all sound exactly the same. I love LP new and old,even back when they were Xero and Hybrid Theory,but I also respect their choice to evolve. They don't care whether what they write is "mainstream" or not,they write what they want to write.

If they lost millions on fans how are they making more money? They're making the music they want to, at least give them that. And if they sold out, oh well -Shrugs- I'll always be a Linkin Park fan, no matter what they decide to do, as long as Mike and Chester stick together I'll be there.

@Freedomdoor well they lost millions but gained millions more who prefer more "radio-friendly/elevator" style of music. they're new stuff is "easier listening"...it's mainstream. that said, i like your comment. although they disappointed me with Minutes to Midnight..i will also always be a fan as long as it's always Mike and Chester, UNLESS, one of their next albums sounds like some sort of lady gaga-ish/techno/jazz/hiphop kind of shit ha..then i will only be a fan of their old ALBUMS.
