I think Cheese Steak is definitely not the worst action "hero" I've seen on MST. It just takes way too long before he actually does anything, other than run around and shout "this way!"
When he gets into the action, he's not terrible. Bad, but at least you can tell that they put some effort in, and that kind of over-the-top manliness is the sort of thing you just don't see nowadays outside of video games.
Does Adam Chance count? Neil Connery? Zap Rowsdower? Admittedly, go too far down the list, and they stop being "action heroes" as such, but this guy just makes it over that hurtle.
"But you must realize that my life is nothing but danger and adventure." I'm always saying that, but it's a hard sell when you're a computer programmer who drives an Accord.
@tripoli911 Damn, that sounds like a sexy adventure! "Quick, my love, let us rescue the cheese poofs at the local 76 station, for my fuel-efficient sedan must also be sated!"
Seriously, though, this movie was shockingly watchable. Some films not even MST3K can save.
I think the only difference they made between Maciste and the various Hercules is that Maciste carried a sword most of the movie. Although he only successfully uses it once.
Does anyone else question the wisdom of having a door with a lock which only a superhuman can manipulate? Seems a superhuman wouldn't really need to lock his door.
You know...I've often wondered if it felt weird to Mike (and Joel before that) to be standing up there with the puppeteers crouching down below. Especially when Mike is standing so close to one of the bots.
@ChaoticYak I believe I read that on the set where they had that podium there was actually a really big pit on the other side of the desk thing where the puppeteers sat. When I was little I used to think they were just sitting scrunched up underneath a hollow back in the desk or something. So I don't think having the puppeteers down there would be distracting, but rather the giant hole right in front of where you are standing.
3:05 - Am I the only one who thinks at first that the boring speech guy is actually suddenly saying "Blah blah blah" in the movie? KM really dubbed it in good that time!
Well, at least Maciste was damn fine to look at. That's a lot more than you can say for episodes like Puma Man or Deathstalker, other crummy "hero" movies.
Uh... Where is Maciste *going*? He'd rather take his new gal on a journey of "danger" and stupidity than stay with her in the land where she's queen of a recently emancipated people??
...What a dickweed. Maciste: Not a hero, but an incredible simulation.

So where does one get Cheese Steak from? Does it come from Beef Cake or vice versa?

Oh, Cheesecake _was_ Colossus. Took me the whole damn movie to get that.

The level of apathy I have towards this movie is at such a level that I doubt anything, even a Micheal Bay movie, can surpass it.
